  1. For once I agree with MJC. At that time I thought United looked a better bet than either ourselves or Aberdeen finishing 2nd in the SPFL. They are a young team and as a result inconsistent, but on their day they are a better attacking side outside of Celtic. They did rip us to shreds that night. It was 4-0 going on 8...... That is why I would gladly take a point right now if offered. United know they probably need to beat us to stay in with an outside chance of Europe through league placings. Hope Lasley makes it and Ramsden or Kerr. That plus Vigurs and Ainsworth offering more defensive cover than they have of late - which is almost b#gger all!!!!
  2. Was not there last night and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how it went. I read some info on Fir Park Corner and noted that the club budget for finishing 6th in the league which answers an often asked Q. Also expects some transfer income and a run in one or both cup competitions. That being the case surely our finishing position in the league has helped make up for shortfalls in other areas. Still a loss of £180k is worrying given we finished 3rd and 2nd in the last 2 seasons. Anything else of note which came out of the meeting??
  3. Think that had something to do with McNamara thinking he was Jose Mourinho. Starts tinkering with the side and playing reserves v St Johnstone and resting Gauld and Souttar. Wish he would do the same v us, but suspect he may well just play his strongest side. The Well are not to be messed with. Although without Lasley and a recognised right back we just might be......
  4. The problem is we are comparing the Faddy of the past to the Faddy of today. To say he was dire is typical Steel boy patter. Utter fucking garbage. He was far from dire. In the second half he showed most of the skill on show and managed to effectively kill the game after we scored the 4th.
  5. According to Pie & Bovril pitch inspection at 12:20
  6. Not much we can do about the weather and given what is happening down south we are getting off lightly. That said a bummer it has to dump 12 mm of rain on the pitch overnight and this morning. It will be dry this afternoon and most of tomorrow.... but great timing NOT..
  7. The one key issue is that we are not exactly awash with cash right now. The club need to get money into the club and 700-1000 Thistle fans will help. So the club will be doing everything they can to get the game on. No mention of pitch inspection and rain due to go off around an hour and right up and till this evening.
  8. Just watched the press conference with McCall. Nothing about big Mick having an Op. Where has that come from....
  9. What the f*ck. A three week break to help with injuries and we seem to have more than before judging by the posts on here. Have yet to see press conference , but McManus has had an Operation...... WTF
  10. I miss big Higgy - he was gallus. Apart from that beating goalscoring records deserves such adulation. That said Sutton has done no too bad and happy with his performances this season.
  11. Fkin brilliant. Booked a cottage for a week in Fort William and will now miss the rescheduled home game. Why no either of the away games FFS Last time that happened I missed the 6-6 game v Hibs. NO HAPPY
  12. At least we did not lose For me the two cup finals I have been to that we lost 5-1 Gers in the league cup and Celtic in Scottish Cup. In your head you know it is likely we will not win against the Old firm, but there is always a wee glimmer of hope, until they score the 1st goal
  13. Strange as it may seem I still believe I enjoyed the semi final replay v Celtic more than the final. To beat those bar stewards on the way to a final and the way we did still ranks as my favourite away day. Also enjoyed the semi v the Jam tarts - again for drama and outcome it was a belter Just wish we could have a few more days like those ones
  14. I saw your reply above Brazilian - was hoping you would shed some light on your earlier statement - above.... Would suggest we should be concerned about the current predicament of the club - losses aside...... EDIT TO ADD - You just have - THANKS. Will read now
  15. Interesting statement. Should we be worried Brazilian? You seem to be in the know.... I make it 2 or 3 years of losses now. The first and largest loss if I recall was affordable because we made a £600k profit the year we made the Cup Final. But how can we continue with losses especially when we can no longer account for a bank loan. We can all see the club is pushing the boat out with McManus, McFadden, Anier etc. I get the feeling we are just risking a little too much. I understand their is no Sponsor. I also understand that our cup performances have been poor, but we have been in Europe and finished top 2 or 3 which gives us almost an extra £700k per an um over the likes of St Mirren. The wage bill must be cut again next season. It may be painful, but we are currently (it would appear) living beyond our means...
  16. Sorry reading but not unexpected. You wonder what it would be if we had a catastrophic league season and no income from Euro football The figures re season tickets must be wrong surely? That would suggest we have nearly 6000 season ticket holders I would have thought around 35% of season ticket base...
  17. Maybe we are all wrong http://www.shoot.co.uk/best-xi-scots-prem/
  18. If the connection is family then in my eyes that is fine. Local is not that important as long as you/they are not glory-hunters. I would be a Partick fan if I chose or had to support my local team. My father was a Well fan and his father also.
  19. Dewell and others may be right saying it is not good enough. But the reality is that it is where we are and what we can afford. We may get another goalie in as cover for Hollis, but I would not expect him to be a world beater. We have next to no money after early cup exits.
  20. Shame we cannot get twardzik back on loan but we do not have any financial leeway. A home support of 4500 for arguably one of our most important games of the season sums up our problems. I know things are tough, but in times gone by at least 6000 home fans would have turned up for such an important game. The weather probably knocked another 500+ off from both teams. Neilsen had a couple of good saves yesterday and one in particular in the 1st half, so for some on here not to even accept that is disappointing. That said he was culpable for both goals. The 1st - someone correctly pointed out that were it not for Lawson sleeping he would not to have had to deal with any shot - but that is what goalkeepers are there for - to deal with the odd defensive lapse. As for the second - the cross was virtually on his line and he was found stuck behind a few players. When it was eventually punched into the net he was several yards away looking bemused. Not good enough. I also believe he is culpable for our cup defeat to Albion Rovers - it was a shot that was very savable and would have expected Twardzik and even Hollis to have done better. When all is said and done - we have little alternative to get behind him and help with his confidence. He will no doubt continue to make the odd mistake, but I believe the team is strong enough to help us into the top 3 regardless. Neilson was not even our 1st choice. If I recall we were going after Samson and he chose Killie over us. I expect Hollis to be released in the summer and we need to get someone else in. I would not be unhappy with Twardzik as 1st choice with Neilsen as back up. That is about as much as we can expect on our budget....
  21. A bit dramatic. Neilsen was found wanting today at the 1st and 2nd but also did make a couple of good saves. I have faith in the rest of the team to get us into the top 3. A draw was about right. If anything Aberdeen were the better side. Their midfield is a lot stronger and so on reflection 2-2 was fine.
  22. Sure will cut up. Will look like a ploughed field come full time. Now much we can do about it. At least it will have a few weeks to recover to some effect.
  23. Just seen pictures of the pitch.... There are 20 people working on it as we speak. Looks playable just now. But another 3-5 hours of rain is another matter.
  24. Pitch inspection at St Mirren park at 11:30. The weather seems to conspire against us. Heavy rain right up to KO could prove somewhat problematic. The club will be doing its utmost to get the game on. Probably need the money, especially with no game for another 3 weeks!!
  25. I was also told this but that the covers were down at the away end where we had the problems from ICT game not all over the pitch. Fingers crossed
