9 in 9 v bottom half. Remarkable record continues. Just as well because ICT, Aberdeen and DDee U keep winning every week. Probably the most obvious top 5/6 - bottom 5/6 since the top 6 was introduced. A good away win in very difficult conditions.
-
2-0 7 shots - is that not more than we have had last 2-3 games :-) :-) :-)
-
Bollox. What is does show is that he believes the loan keeper to be more solid and likely to help us secure a point or 3. That is all. Edit to add - MB makes same point above.

^^THIS^^ It was a good idea and was I believe marketed very well. I have done my bit and continue to do so, but.... I never ever thought raising £1.5m was ever likely to happen for 2 reasons: 1. Launched in the midst of a recession and that would affect both individual and corporate membership 2. The club were not is a similar state to the likes of Rangers and Hearts I hope many fans continue to join up and those who have joined pay their annual subs but to expect £1.5m was being optimistic. I think we only have 1 member who has paid for the £25k package when the club originally hoped for up to 20!! I don't know what was said last night and note with interest Brazilian comments about how critical things are or could become. Whilst we are not awash with money and the cup exits will have a large impact I would have thought we are struggling to break even and need to adjust budget to respond to cup exit. Problem is there is never any guarantee we get more than 1 round in each cup competition so why (I am surmising) should we budget for so. I fully accept this impacts quality on the pitch - but we should budget for 10th place and out of cups early on.. I know there are other factors to consider, ground improvements and maintanence, corporate hospitality, lack of SPFL sponsor etc...but average home crowds are marginally up from this time last season. We also got a home Euro game and the money for finishing 2nd in the SPL which as stated is a hell of a lot more than St Mirren and the likes...
-
So no different from Old Firm fans then Lap up the good times, but when we go through a rough patch - abandon the club like you would a sinking ship. Not you Siebs barmy army but a few fans need to take a good look at themselves. You either support Motherwell or you don't. There have been worse periods than this in our history and there will be again. If fans are wetting their pants right now - god help us

Surprised to see the crowd at over 9000. As empty as I have seen the east stand and cooper for a league game. In some ways I can understand it. After all it turned out to be 5-0. But still a shame fans are so ready to turn their backs when the going gets tough!
-
They are vermin. Spent full time and half time arguing with stewards because I reacted to the scum in the main stand. We need the money, but why put our regular fans through that time and again? Get them the fuck out of there. Credit belongs to the Well Bois. Turned up in numbers - sang throughout and stayed till the bitter end. The only bright spot in a dismal week. Lack of funds catching up with us.
-
I get the anger and the bitterness. Looking back at the Albion goal, the players were jogging about. Anier stopped chasing back for the defence to take care. They never did. And when all is said and done Neilsen could have made a better effort at saving what turned out to be the goal.. They let us, themselves and the club down BIG time. I don't go to as many away games as I used to. BUT I am a season ticket holder and will travel through tomorrow for the game from Edinburgh. Never crossed my mind not to. Fair enough if I was living in Aberdeen or coming from that far away and it is a night game. But living in and around Motherwell. I don't get it... Each to their own.
-
I don't think we will win or even get a point, but I hope we do for all those stay at home fans that cannae be arsed. If I was to stop going to games on the back of bad Motherwell results - and yes admittedly Saturday almost tops the lot, then I would have stopped going 25+ years ago - around about the time I started to go to most home games.

I would not say the quality of the puma tops has been that good at all. I have the anniversary top and that is good quality as alluded to in a post above. The other tops material has been low grade and nothing like what you would get buying a Arsenal or Chelsea top. Now I know they sell in their 10's of thousands - but our Puma tops definitely have an inferior quality v Bukta and Canterbury tops. If it is to be Macron then bring it on
-
As long as the quality of tops is better I will be quite happy. And the design of course. The problem going with a Puma is we get material that is as soft as sandpaper for £45! Bukta and even Canterbury were better quality.

I agree with the majority of your post especially the 4 points above. But I still do not get quite what we as fans expect Lasley or any other team members to say. "Quite how we are sitting 3rd having won 8 games and are 5 points better off than the same stage last season". I mean we all know we are sh1t this season. In fact our midfield is god awful and my good pal Faddy is on a slippery slope to oblivion". To be fair most players have acknowledged that we are not playing as well as we probably could or should so far this season. I have no problem with this. My problem is that there are no immediate signs that they are about to click or improve. Personally I would have liked an apology and I am somewhat surprised that McCall did not fire off an email to do just that. Happy enough to send them when we are doing well. 2600 Well fans was more than the crowds at ICT, ST J, QOS v St Mirren and almost as many as attended the Thistle v Dons game. It was a very decent crowd (and smoke bombs apart) created a great atmosphere. Still they could not raise their game or play at all well. That grates with me more than almost anything else. Almost as if they are taking the Well Bois and fans for granted Rant over..

Leanne gave McCall a rollicking after the match as it leaves a gaping hole in our budget. It now seems more than likely several players will be sold to make up the shortfall with no new additions

Yesterday was a bummer for sure. And I have the fear for Friday. But as a season ticket holder I will be there. Don't get season ticket holders living near Mother well that stay away just because it is on telly or because of the shambles yesterday. A handful of Albion Rovers fans stayed away because they feared a pumping and they believe their club sold them out in moving the tie. Not so sure they feel so clever now...a lesson to be learned. Hope Celtic are not as good or as fluent as they were today. If so we will be lucky to keep the score below 4 or 5. The players owe us a performance but even if they deliver one I am struggling to see how we can pick up any points. A bummer given we have beaten them twice in a row at Fir Park.
-
That probably is not difficult because apart from Ainsworth at Tannadice I am not sure any of the others have scored a goal....
-
I am quietly confident........ We only lose by 4,.....
-
No need to give McCall the boot. Whether the football is shyte or not we ARE sitting 3rd top not 3rd bottom and somehow we have won 8 games. In saying that my goodwill for McCall is running low. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and the team he put out should have been good enough to see off Albion. But I am thinking that Erwin and/or Moore would have been better options than McHugh. It was a chance to mix it up and give others a chance to make an impression other than the obvious choices who have shown time and again they have not got it in them. As for the summer signings I don't think anyone complained when we signed Vigurs and Lawson and certainly not when McFadden re-signed. It has not worked out. My main concern is that McCall is seemingly unable to fine alternative systems and the players playing appear out of position.
-
Outplayed by Albion Rovers. They deserved to win my arse! They defended in depth and defended stoutly. They threw themselves into the tackle and definitely looked as if they were more interested than our players. But to say they deserved to win is bollocks. A draw was a fair result. The fact it never came about was not surprising. I said to my mates with 20 mins to go I could sense a sucker punch coming. Sadly it did. It was depressing and how we are 3rd in the league is one of life's mysteries. Defence is OK and attack is also OK. Where we are struggling BIG time is in midfield. Where do I start - Faddy is showing week by week he is less likely to turn back into the footballer we hoped he was. carswell is solid if uninspiring. Lawson and Angol oh dear. We are bereft of creativity and pace and it shows every week and boy did it show today. lasely injected a sense of urgency but a little to late. One silver lining is the final is at Pork head. Not that we would have got close but going their to watch us play Celtic would be far from enjoyable experience. Gutted but worse things in life by some distance.

To be fair we are in the market just like every other SPFL club. Credit to United and Hibs (in the past) getting top dollar for their players while we sell for a 100,000 here and there. The truth is that our talent as good as it has been in our eyes, is and has not been the real deal since Faddy. Clarkson and Murphy have struggled down in England. Don't even know if Murphy is in the squad at Sheffield United? Take Ojamma and Hutchy - on their day 2 of the best players in the SPFL, but far too inconsistent. I like Hutchy a lot and he is a very decent central defender, but every now and then he f#cks up in spectacular style whether getting sent off or selling a goal. These are the times that scouts are probably watching. Probably worth £500k, but we will be lucky to see half that in the January transfer window, if anyone even comes in for him. I mean is he a better talent or prospect that Randolph, yet he left with no-one making a bid. Shame to hear but not surprising. If he has been here for 6 years he deserves to move on. Would rather he did not, but such is life...
-
Good 3points and a clean sheet. 8 wins from 8 v bottom 6. Quite a statistic. We are yet to click. So we all say but are still 3rd and ahead of Aberdeen and United who the media are having a wankfest over. 2 assists from Iain. Shame he did not score as i have spunked £50 on him scoring in 90 mins. I mean 9 goals last season v zilch this season. Still rate him and think he will go on to be a star for us, Faddy yet again fails to deliver. U need to start worrying if he ever will.
-
And a certain Mr H Ojamma never made the team for the game. He was an unused sub. Maybe being rested, although not sure whether he is getting game time at Legia Warsaw?
-
So has it really come as a surprise. Some of our performances including yesterdays? Not to me it hasn't. We lost 7-8 key players from our 1st team which in itself is a tad unfortunate. For all the players who spoke highly of their time at Motherwell each and every one of them did a runner. McCall has struggled to replace these players and that also is not surprising. Our wage bill will have been cut back by a 6 figure sum. Whatever you say or believe both Lawson and Vigurs played well in an SPL team that finished top 6 last year. With their fans saying that they were their 2 best and standout players. Hardly a huge gamble, but one that is yet to pay off.. McManus - a solid addition and on the whole I have been happy with his performances. Neilson - never going to replace either Ruddy or Randolph, but despite some good saves is not proving as an able a goalie as we had all hoped. Sutton - No better or worse than Higdon. In a way that is a compliment - but he is not getting the service Higgy got last season so hard to compare. Anier - hit the ground running, but has struggled of late and we are now seeing why he was not geeting a game for Viking. His pace and runs can cause trouble, but cannot hold the ball up and is inept when required to defend from up front! Faddy - delighted when we signed him for this season and on the basis of last season - not surprising. Has not come close to alst seasons form. It is easier to come into a team that are winning and have pace and flair players such as OJamma, Humphrey and Law. When the onus is on him he has struggled. Does not appear fit. Ainsworth - shows flashes of a decent player. but fades away when the going gets tough, which it is at the moment. ZFA - Attacking wise he can perform well and has a few very good games. But is young and VERY inconsistent. He was isolated yesterday, but that was an appalling performance summarised by the second goal. Dribbling back the way from half way line only to lose the ball when the easier option (and one I don't doubt Hammell would have taken) was to simply pass the ball out the par for a throw in. For the most part we are/will be a solid if uninspiring side this season. Aberdeen, Dundee United have strengthened whilst we have been weakened. St Johnstone and ICT have mostly the same 1st team from last season with a few decent additions. I think we are better than the bottom 6, but not as good as the other teams in the top 6. Certainly not Aberdeen and Dundee United. So Europe is probably out of the equation but still think we will make Top 6. Unless Butcher can inspire the Hibees. Yesterday was a sore one and shows we cannot cope with losing 3 of the 1st team back 4. United would still have won, but I doubt it would have been so comfortable. Hopefully we can get a favourable draw in the Cup if we get through v Albion. take our minds of the league

Seriously Wellfan 2K7...... We don't move games from Fir Park because we have rarely if ever sold the ground out...... The demand from this game will exceed 1300, but whether it would get say 3000 to make it financially viable for either club is another matter.
-
Very good draw. Happy with that and all other SPL sides and SevCo have some tough ties. Hope they move the tie. Done know how many Albion fans there are, but would it be worth moving for an extra 1000 or so fans. We would take 1500 Max usually away for a Cup tie.

To be fair we are all guilty of those comments and probably sounds like a result of frustration. Probably should have muttered them rather than shouted. The truth is that last 20 minutes it was one way traffic. Simply because we could not hold the ball up front for longer than a nano second.... We have been lucky that Killie, Thistle and to an extent Hibs do not have clinical strikers or 3 home wins could easily have been defeats and draws. As stated on an earlier post, play like that against United and they will not be so profligate.. When all is said and done we have just won 5 home games on the bounce, sit joint 2nd and have more points this season than last season with a team that everybody thinks was better and stronger. GO FIGURE.... Me - I am quite happy with our League from this year and hope we get a favourable draw in the Sc Cup tomorrow. MON THE WELL
