I think we are being dicked about a little here. Only my opinion, but a contract offer has been made and it was supposed to have been signed on Monday. Now I am assuming (perhaps wrongly) that he verbally agreed to what was offered, then why has it not happened? If the club has moved the goalposts then it is not ideal, but if it is Faddy or his agent then this could well end up badly for both parties. I am not having sleepless nights + we KNOW he would be a great addition and one after the evidence of last night we badly need. But there comes a point where the club has to move on. I hope it does not come to this, but something is amiss..... I mean it hardly makes the Manager look clever if every day he comes out and advises that he as been told or believes it will be signed only for it not to happen!

All in all a decent work out. After being 2-0 down early doors I feared an onslaught, so 4-2 was almost respectable. Newcastle were for the most part streets ahead in terms of fitness, skill and strength. Hardly surprising given they are paid 10 times what our players are on. A few too many mistakes and Hutch and Hollis were responsible for the 1st 3 goals. Basic errors passing to the opposition just outside our own box. That will be punished against EPL team and was. The squad on paper is very thin again. I count 14 with 1st team experience inc the summer signings. McManus and Faddy make it 16. But god forbid we get any injuries. Thought Hammell was the bext performer tonight in claret and amber. 2nd half we played better and Faddy and ZFA made a difference. Had to laught at the comment earlier in this thread. ZFA put in 2-3 crosses and they were all excellent. He could be pushing for a 1st team slot. Hard to judge lawson. Vigurs had an OK game. Great goal and some terrific skill, but again he was careless in possession and gave the ball away cheaply. When all is said and done it was pre-season and the players are still gelling. I think our 1st 11 will be fairly strong. Good entertainment, no bad crowd and decent away support.

He would have got the offer in writing yesterday one would assume. Then probably a few wee bits and pieces to sort out, but yes it does begger the Q why it is taking so long.

No its not just you Hopefully Faddy signs + 1 or 2 others and all the doom and gloom of players departing will seem a distant memory. Still this high only is complete with Faddy....hope nobody kiboshes the deal. A tad worrying the deal was not done today. Sounds like a last minute hitch. Maybe the lawyers office was closed. Fairly obvious but hope it works. Faddy will get 1st team game time with us. Only 2 caps left to get into Hall of Fame , which IMHO he deserves. Stat that stuck out for me was that we have sold 4400 season tickets with a couple weeks to go b4 season starts. Sure that will include free kids offer etc, but still 4400..... If Faddy signs we may get over the 4500 mark.

Yes - I would assume because he has not signed a contract yet, he cannot actually play for us - simples. Let's hope it goes through early next week and he can play against the magpies.

Matter of opinion. Mines is that the home top is a decent effort and the best puma has produced for us.

I would assume that means we obviously we could not meet his wage demands/expectations. Would rather that than run at a loss again next season. Either that or McCall saw him train for a week and thought better of it. Probably the former. Also read that Middlesborough are trying to offload Scott MacDonald as he is still on £30k a week !!!! WTF..... We still need a few players in as the squad was supposedly thin last year. So far it is 6 or 7 players down after the sumer so far. I believe we have a good midfield and reasonable defence, but still missing that creativity and possibly another striker, depending on whether Faddy comes back or not.

I unearthed an old box of programmes at the weekend. The home game v Nancy we had John Sutton and Gunnar Neilsen on the bench. Just saying likes......... I think you can discount the years he spent at Man City as he was never getting in their 1st team. Saw a video clip of him in a game for the Faroes v Germany. Looked impressive. They still got beat 3 or 4-0, but big Gunnar stopped it from being 10+ nil. He looks tall and gangly like De Gea. Could prove to be a star. Probably best we can afford...

Forget Boyd and Wilson - unlikely to happen. can see Hutchy going the same was as Law and Randolph. Both very good players, but left for nowt. He has a year left on his contract and will probably see it out. Plus the fact he is/was injury prone may put off potential suitors. I would be happy to see Hutchy and McManus in central defence.

Perhaps. Then again I am chomping at the bit too see my team in action. Seen the new players we have signed. And it gives us a better opportunity to get a result against a Premiership team. I will still be there and really looking forward to it..

That would be good if true. I have NO issues with him leaving to join Hearts if as was reported he doubled his wages. We are all Well fans, so it was disappointing at the time. But who on here would not move for double their wages - HELLO! All I remember is how I was hoping he would stay and his goal v St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi final - what a belter that was. Welcome back John. Hope he can pick up where he left off.

If we do a forensic analysis of the finances or even if we have a damn good guess.... Fact is we need to cut our wage bill and by a fair whack if we are to stay in the black. McCall will not have the same wage budget to work with and my guess is he needs to cut it by as much as £2-300,000. That explains why we are looking to replace 11 players with 6 or 7. I may not like it but I sure as hell accept it. We need to start living within our means. If we get the right players in, we can confidently look to finish top 6.

Still that would be 11 players released or gone and 9 from 1st team squad, replaced by 7 players all of whom would need to step straight into the 1st team. Lawson and Vigurs will do just that, but the 5 other signings will also have to. A sign of the times. 11 players out and 7 in. I am inc Faddy in the leavers for the time being. No doubt he will tell us a minute before KO for the Europa Cup game if he is staying. Fine by me He obviously has offers, but are they that lucrative and will he be playing every week, which is probably more important to him than a £1000 here or there? Staying with us probably gives him the best chance of getting back into the Scotland line up and into the hall of fame. McManus Sutton Neilson McFadden ? ? ? I think we would still need another striker and winger. Definitely need to replace the creativit lost with Law and Ojamma gone. I hope the Gaffer unearths a few gems.

Latest are that we are in talks with Stephen McManus. And that John Sutton is poised to return, with Gunnar Neilson also set to sign. Whether that all happens - we need to wait and see. But I would be happy if that trio were to sign..

At this rate NOT ONE (apart from Ramsden) of the out of contract players we have offered contracts to will have stayed. I thought most would leave, but for all of them to leave does make it a bit harder to take. If Faddy signs for Celtic that would just top it of. Were he to stay then it would be one glimmer of hope.... Huge rebuilding task ahead for Mr McCall. Vigurs and Lawson appear to be good signings, but plenty of work ahead to put together a team that will come close to matching the exploits of last season. Probably the wake up call we were all expecting

Not at all.....consider this: We are probably saving up to £10k a week at the moment on wages. We can also save on the flights out to Portugal - less players and all that Of course when we get there I assume we will be playing a 5 aside tourney If Hateley and Higdon are offski, then that would take us to over 10 players left - inc 6 first teamers. No panicking here........no sireeeeeeee

Probably. The fantastic thing about finishing 2nd is Europe and the extra income from the SPL. Almost £1m more than St Mirren. The downside is a lot of that money will be eaten up by win bonuses and other related bonuses (assuming they exist) for finishing in a Euro slot.

Tbh I thought £3500 a week was excessive. But that may also take into account win and performance bonuses. One thing is for sure we had a smallish squad but still had the highest wage bill outside the City clubs. So yes a handful of players would have been on £2000 a week plus.

He was reportedly on £3500 a week at Motherwell. Top paid player. £4500 grand at Barnsley suggests then that he was on less than £3500 grand at Motherwell, where the average basic wage is £75k. Would he really move for an extra £1000 a week? Oh well the exodus continues and our adding to the squad proceeds slowly and very quietly. This will prove to be a good thing or not. On the plus side think of all the wages we are saving on at the moment.

If Higdon is offski, which i still think is likely....on account of the fact if he wanted to re-sign, he probably would have done so by now. I don't know how old Sutton is, but I was sorry to see him go in the 1st instance, so if he is 1 of 2 strikers we sign I would be OK with that. Who knows he may have scored near Higdon's tally with Humphrey, OJamma and Faddy laying the chances on for him.

TBH that post had PANTY WETTER written all over it In saying that I am a little bemused how we have Higdon, Hateley and Faddy all to make up their minds and we seem no nearer to hearing what the **** is going on. We have lost a sh1t load of players and are likely to lose more. 2 albeit decent additions does not quite whet the appetite.
