Because Matt (and don't quote me) we are eligble through the SFA/SPL and they have signed up to one of the tougher levels of UEFA participation/groups. i.e seats have to be quilted and warmed to 20 C. Food must inlcude beluga caviar and forest truffles. Whereas Pana and Steaua did not because there associations are not tied into a similar committment/level. I am sure there is good reason for this. For me I cannot see it - as these countries get the same number of clubs if not more so than we do here in the UK/Scotland. Perhaps it is expected of us.. As for our chances in the Europa. With the team we finished the season with - I would have been confident of giving anyone a game and some teams confident of getting through (lower seeded sides like Estoril). But with an entirely new team - who knows. Not so confident at all. Remember folks at 37+ co-efficient points Celtic would be ranked 3rd or 4th top seeds in the 3rd qualifying round....did we not just beat them twice in a row

Judging by the following it suggests Henrik will not be a Motherwell player come the Europa League ties: Ojamaa's agent, Jonne Lindblom, told BBC Scotland that Poznan will continue their pursuit of his client. "Lech Poznan are still really keen on Henrik and they are likely to come back with an improved offer," he said. "Ojamaa is attracting interest from all around Europe and even from MLS but at the moment Lech Poznan is the only concrete offer. "Henrik is happy at Motherwell but if a right club comes with a right offer he is ready to take the next step in his career."

Not sure I was ever that impressed with Lee Miller. Seemed to blow hot and cold when in Scotland. Still Strachan parted with £600k to take him to Middlesborough and he scored 23 goals in 50+ games for Carlisle and was I believe latterly their Captain ?
-
I did notice that a former European foe - Nancy - finished 3rd bottom of French Ligue 1 this past season. Means they are relegated.

I would take any from brackets 2 & 3 and Israel from your top and worst bracket. How easy is it to get into Israel? My personal choice would be Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal and Cyprus in that order. Although Udinese would be a good draw also.

£175k + add ons for Ojamma - no thanks. £300k + add ons maybe. I guess it depends how realistic the add ons are in terms of coming to fruition. I would want to keep Henrik for the Europa cup. At this rate it will be a brand new team for next season They are supposedly about to get £2m from Celtic for a winger who I am quite sure will not be 5 or 6 times the player Henrik is............

According to wiki he is now 29 and has had an injury plagued 2 seasons at Oxford United and was released in the summer. Bit of a gamble much like Porter and Ramsden. Some of his wiki record is/was promising. In 2010/11 he was voted league 1 player of the year with MK Dons.

There are some roasters on this site posting so much shite it is unreal.... The same old culprits mind.

We are all Motherwell through and through and we are ALL worried about what may happen if McCall goes and none of the out of contract players sign on for next season. That would mean we are looking for 1 Manager and up to 10 1st team players. If that happens and we are still a success next season then we will be truly blessed...... Still it would make for an exciting summer :-)
-
Calm down to a panic itb. You have made valid points, but I stick by my viewpoint that if McCall leaves and probably even if he stays, we are unlikely to achieve anywhere near the success he has brought to the club. Plenty of Managers have inherited good squads and still made a mess of things. It is telling that all players from our 1st team squad respect and trust McCall and that allows us to get to get the best out of them. As I said I hope he stays and re-builds the squad for next season.
-
You can argue the toss about what McCall should and should not have done. That is all conjecture. What is fact is he has taken a Motherwell team on an average budget to a cup final and 2 best of the rest finishes in 2.5 seasons. In my eyes that is a fantastic achievement and he should be lauded for what he has achieved. Some fans on here cannot bring themselves to admit that just because he could be leaving. If he goes - good luck to him. If he stays I will be delighted.

Never did seem to be the brightest bean on the block. I mean falling for fat sally's tears. That probably had more to do with fat sally being told he had to shed 2 stone..... I would be more upset at Humphrey going over to the dark side.
-
Not for me Pressley. Although his wife would add a bit of glamour
-
Actually at the top clubs they do. Sir Alex was reportedly on £10m per annum. Mancini on a similar amount. Mourinho if he comes back will be paid as well at the top Chelsea players.
-
Scotsman reporting we would be interested in Hartley if McCall leaves. Methinks a case of unsubstantiated speculation on the part of that paper/website.

Saw that also and not surprised. Apparently the SPL is a piss poor league and someone had to finish runners up to Celtic.... I watched Sheff United in the play offs and if they had our front line of Ojamma, Higdon, Humphrey and Faddy, they would be heading up to the Championship next season. They reckon Murphy was touted as the scottish messi. If anyone cared to enquire they would have noted that he blew hot and cold with us and hit a purple patch just before he left. I liked Murphy, but he was by no means our best player or even in the top 5 from our team last season. I reckon McCall would be a decent appointment for them, but hope they go for the guy that led MK Dons to a lower league finish than they themselves managed - Go figure
-
Absolutely no for me on McGhee. Were he to do well again - it would be a matter of weeks before he was tarting himself to Celtic et al.... I hope McCall stays, but we do need it sorted out as soon as. Derek Adams would be a good shout. We could offer some of the compo we get for McCall. In saying that I still feel he is a bit on the young side. All this re-building - gets tiring after a while.....
-
Probably till the deadline to register to play in the Europa League. I suspect we won't have to wait long for 2 reasons. Firstly because another club will come in and make him a better offer....or because another club will not come in and make him an offer he is happy with. Either way that is likely to happen in the next few weeks.
-
For me a team from another country to tick off the list. One that was glamorous and accessible would be even better. So Italy, Portugal or Belgium for example The best away days are where we have taken a decent away support. So Finland + Reykyavik were enjoyable, but not as good as Athens, Nancy or Odense.

Some of the seeded teams we could face in the 3rd qualifying round: Would take Swansea, Brugge, Udinese, Stuttgart or Vitesse. Not Dnipro CC: 42.829 Club Brugge CC: 36.880 Beşiktaş CC: 34.900 Saint-Étienne CC: 26.800 Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk CC: 23.951 Swansea City CC: 16.592 Eintracht Frankfurt or StuttgartNote GER Estoril or Vitória de GuimarãesNote POR Vitesse CC: 9.945

According to Sky Sports a host of clubs from all over the world are chasing the Big Higgy. I now wish he had a mediocre season until we tied him down for another 2 years. Then again we would not have finished back in Europe!
-
I hope I am wrong, but i suspect Higdon , Faddy and Hateley will be off ski. So the 4 from the under 20`s + Law, Randolph, Saunders, Humphrey means up to 11 players will be leaving this summer. Probably the biggest rebuilding required since the days of Admin. Would be happy with Lawson, but he seems to be more like Las than Jennings or Law. I would hope we would bring in similar numbers although unlikely to be similar quality. Hopefully unearth a few gems. Of course a lot depends on whether the Manager is also here next season. If he leaves then we face a hard task to get another Manager in and replace all the players leaving in time for Europe. Get it right and we will be top 6 again. Get it wrong and we could be bottom 6 for the 1st time in a wee while.......

What a Muppet that boy is. I take it they let in the 6000 St J fans for free when they played the Turkish side? It is maybe not as lucrative as we would all like, but we had a combined 15000+ from the 2 ties. For the flights, they were also sold to fans which would have kept the costs down. I am quite sure the club made a minimum £250k from our participation last season. Plus there is an outside chance like Hearts you draw a glamour team. If spurs or Liverpool had come to First Park it would have been a sell out.
-
I would like to see Hateley stay with the Well. I think he has had a good season, with a wee blip in the middle. He has performed well in the last dozen or so games. However........... He was brought up at Ibrox and his dad and agent are blue noses, so if I was a betting man I reckon he may just end up at Castle Greyskull next season. I mean let's be honest were Rangers still in the SPL amd solvent then there is no way Hateley would get in their 1st team. So if anything this debacle may see him fulfil a childhood dream. That and he would at least double his wages

Sounds to me that Sheils has let slip that Samson's agent has been on the dog and bone to Killie. Just doing his job I guess touting his player around for the best offer. That said if I was McCall I would say here is the offer you have 1 week to make a decision and then we move on. I guess we have been spoilt with Randolph and Ruddy and Samson is probably as good a standard as we can get in out price range so to speak, but I would not p1ss about as if it were Faddy we were waiting on.
