Kirky said yesterday (in the Centenary) that we were hoping for a Celtic cup win...........but are we? The players hope so, but as a fan I would like Hibs to win as we would then go into the 2nd qualifying round and probably be seeded. No guarantee we would win, but gives us a much better chance of at least 2 home games/rounds in Europe.

Was Samson not involved in the Scotland squad? Not that that is any great relevance these days, but suggests he is/was doing enough to impress. Agree with Diggle. Expectations to maintain current standing??? What you mean 2nd or 3rd. Some fans are in for Almighty shock. Our budget is being reduced as we made a loss last financial year. Our support has remained static, but away support has fallen through the floor. Still today is about celebrating what has been a great season, not about worrying for the future...so I will shut up :-)
-
Not to be pedantic Big man. I only count 5 teams below us with bigger budgets :-) Heck of an achievement by the Manager, Players and Board. Still the fans played their part. I think in almost all teams the away support has dwindled, yet with Mother well I think it has stayed fairly steady if not grown down to the young lads. Looking forward to tomorrow - few beers to celebrate what has been a fantastic season. Would be nice to have warm sunshine in May. But this is Scotland and that is asking a LOT....
-
Certainly makes it more interesting. Both Ross County and St Johnston need wins against us, which means the games will be exciting. May play into our hands as draws are no use and they should be open games.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^ Always is the problem - always will be the problem. The only way Motherwell players do not leave the club is if they are coming to the end of their careers or are Sh1te. We cannot compete with the wages of 60-70% of professional clubs in Scotland and England. I would rather we have players like Ruddy, Randolph, Law, and Higdon and they play to their strengths and leave with our good wishes. Of course I would much rather we got a hefty transfer fee and it puzzles me we never got an offer for Randolph. McCall is quoted as saying plenty of players want to come to Motherwell. No bloody wonder, we have proved to be a real boost to most players careers and increasing their earning power. You could reel of the names of players who have benefitted from a season or two at Motherwell. Hopefully that continues to act as a magnet. Law, Randolph, Higdon, Humphrey and Faddy I would say are defo off and possibly even Hateley. I would also not rule out bids for Hutch and Ojamma. Daley will also be offksi. Just hope the manager stays. Still we will rebuild and it will be exciting to see what players we bring in, because at this rate we may be looking at 7 or more............
-
Would you take a punt on Gary Harkins? On his day one of the best midfielders in the SPL. Sadly there are too few days. If he could up his commitment levels and his consistency levels he would be a decent replacement for Law IMHO
-
Q is - will the club offer reduced entry for our last home game of the season? I know it annoys a few season ticket holders, but as one I would rather we try to ensure a large vociferous home support. Said it last year, but more so for this season, this team have performed well above any bodies expectations. And we know for certain that Randolph, Law, Humphreys and probably Faddy, Higgy will depart. I would go as far as making it a £5 or £10 at most. Would love the supporters to turn out en masse. Most who do not turn up cite cost as the primary reason. £5 would help make that argument less relevant. As for the game. I hope we get the point we need. Losing last year to Dundee Utd did not detract from a great season, but did put a wee damper on celebrations.

Sadly all this extra attention is not such good news in our attempts to keep him. Anyhoo - well played BIG man. Fully deserved. A few boo boys feeling like plonkers now. That said I think most if not ALL Well fans are behind him now.
-
He is indeed a legend and a fantastic footballer also. I am SO glad we are getting the chance to watch him in a Well shirt again. That said those 1st 30 or so minutes he put in an almost Daley like performance a la Hearts away. Were that Daley then he would have abuse screamed at him. I think that may stop him getting another big time move. On his day he is still several levels above MFC and to be fair he has contributed massively since he has come back. Add to the fact that generally all the players were having a mare in the 1st 30. As for the game. 1st time in a long time I have seen us lose at the Tulloch stadium. OJamma sending off was the turning point. Had he stayed on the worst we would have got was a point, possibly all 3. Still it was good value, especially for the old codgers that got in for a £1!! Not much damage to the GD and hopefully we get at least a pointy at home next week to help celebrate another marvellous season.
-
Everyone of them was fanf*ckintastic today. Ojamma was at his busy best. Guys is on Duracell batteries and I do worry about a bid coming in for him before next season.... I also thought Hateley had one of his best games of this season today. But I gave it to Captain Keith. From the 1st minute he just seemed to be all over the pitch and gave every ounce of effort and at times he added some brilliant skill none more than his set up for Henrik's goal. All in all it was a GREAT TEAM effort and to scud Celtic twice in a row just makes this season keep getting better and better
-
A bit busy as others have stated, but I will buy it, simply for the reason I have bought away tops for the past few seasons and the petrol blue euro/3rd strip. Time to get back to a home top and as busy as it is - at least it is nit boring and I am sure will grow on some naysayers

Another one off to a respectable sized club? http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/jamaican-international-is-first-name-on-mcdermott-s-leeds-hitlist-1-5614128 Was hoping it was our other Jamaican International...... Begs the Q why we never get/got any transfer offers for Humphrey, Randolph, Law etc. WHIT = "Humphrey came close to a move to Parkhead in August of last year after Celtic manager Neil Lennon explored the possibility of signing him in the latter stages of the transfer window. The sides did not agree a fee, however, and Humphrey was left to see out his deal at Fir Park". Cannot remember hearing this....
-
He may well be off and if he can earn a few bob more than by staying with us, then good luck to him. Unless of course he ends up at Hubs, Hearts or Aberdeen, Either way that article is not saying something different or new nor is Higgy. I suspect he will get offers we will not be able to match. Then it is up to him if he takes them.
-
Yes - but he is also a wee shoplifting ned and they may well count against him + he is on lone from Wolves + Hearts players would have a hard time voting for a Hibs player. I would say Higdon is a fair bet.

-
All depends if Sheffield Utd get through the play offs and into the Championship. If that happens they will probably give the gig to Morgan (caretaker Manager). If they do not - then I think it would be odds on they come after McCall. Probably to manage both Law and Murphy next year. Also he would come after a couple of others Higdon and Faddy ?? Hope he stays, but he has done an excellent job at Motherwell and at least we would be due some compo for him.
-
I am not sure there are many boo boys left. I mean cm on to f@ck. Surpassing Willie Pettigrew post war goal scoring record. Any boo boys left should be burnt at the stake
-
Always the same. We love players just as they leave us. Big Higgy is a hero. I never ever thought he would surpass Pettigrew I hope the fans turn up for the home games left. This team deserve it BIG time....

To The Board At Motherwell Football Club
Welldaft Mk1 replied to nethertonwellfan's topic in Club Chat
Agree to some extent with Diggle and Matt. We have become reliant on the TV cash, but the upshot of that is that the product on the pitch at Fir Park the past 5-6 years has been for the most part exciting to watch. Yet crowds rarely move from the averages of the past. So if I was running the club would I put my faith in the fans coming back in droves because we ditch Sky TV and increase the size if the league. NO I would not. I am not sold on the proposed league structure but I feel other planned changes are and will be beneficial for football in this country, not least the move to one governing body and merge the SFL and the SPL. Get rid of some overpaid wasters. When all is said and done it will all be irrelevant if as is being reported St mirren and Ross County vote against the changes. -
No surprise there. Just disapointed we never got a decent transfer fee for either but more especially Randolph. Wish them both well in their careers. Would expect Law to rejoin Sheffield United if they got promotion to the Championship. Hopefully none of our players end up at SevCo, although I believe fat Sally was at the game yesterday.... Hopefully Higdon and Humphrey also stay, but expect interest in them also. Shame - as I always feel the side that (hopefully) gets us into Europe could do a decent job, but is invariably dismantled.
-
This 4 goals and 16 shots at goal from Motherwell. It was frustrating at times as we were wasteful in front of goal, but despite that it was far from end of season fare.
-
Buzzing for the game. Hope the Well fans turn out in good numbers as we have been playing good football of late. Want the 3 points to continue our push for second, but also to delay any party in the East end of Glasgow.
-
We got diddled out of a home game v the Old firm a season or two back. LD has made it clear to the SPL that if anyone is disadvantaged by one less home game it should be Ross C or ICT, none of whom would have been placed in the top half at the start of the season. So if the top 6 comes to pass as is, then I would expect Ross C (H), Killie (h), ICT (away), St J (away) and wait for it Celtic (h). What if we play Celtic at home in the 1st game post split and it is the game they could win the title. Higgy Saturday anyone???? I wonder of the club would ask us to give over the Cooper......
-
^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^ If we can beat St Mirren this weekend, something we have struggled to do not just this season, but almost every bloody season, then I would be confident of a Euro place. We are still in the driving seat, but with 18 points to play for we could also mess it up. Were we to qualify then again we would have had no competitive fixtures before we KO our Euro campaign. Would want to avoid the scandanavian teams for that reason.
-
Rancid they may be, but they have started to battle at every game under Brown. I would rather play a Hibs, ICT type team who go out to play/attack than a team that try to stifle the game. Those are the teams we have struggled against of late and Dundee will be no different. Hopefully we will have a little more skill when required, but I would be pleasantly surprised if it was a comfortable win...
