  1. One less Well fan is one less Well fan too many - there are not that many of us in the first place. RIP Auld Yin.
  2. Except that cannot happen. The runners up in the Scottish Cup final will take the 4th european spot, so only 2nd and 3rd guaranteed European football.
  3. Magic indeed. As if the Big man could go up in my estimations any more - but that was the dawgs bollox. If Carlsberg did getting your revenge....... Hope he stays....
  4. I am not entirely happy with aspects of how the SPL and SFA have conducted themselves during these discussions around re-construction, nor do I agree with the plans..............but......... I find criticism of the club and Directors a little hard to take. They are damned if they don't and damned if they do. Whatever decision they make and however they do it they will and are being criticised. They are custodians of the club and whilst not perfect are entrusted with ensuring we have a secure future. At times this is at odds with the fans wishes. I do not envy them these responsibilities. I feel in the main the club have been far more open, honest and approachable than most SPL clubs, but far from getting any credit they are from some quarters continually derided. We are sitting pretty in the SPL with a budget a hell of a lot smaller than Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen etc. They have been responsible for hiring Managers that have ensured we have delivered more than we could have hoped for over the past 5 or 6 season. 10 points v Hearts, Celtic, Aberdeen and Hibs. Was not that long ago I would have seen those fixtures and thought we would be lucky to come away with 2 or 3. Yet for all this people want to threaten not to return to Fir Park. Each to their own. As for me I will buy my season ticket for the forseeable future. We really ought to savour what we are producing and achieving as it may not be that long before we are battling away in the bottom half, fighting to avoid relegation.
  5. Someone who works as hard as me - needs to take a break or else I would go roond the bend.
  6. And if I was McCall so would I. He has done a very good job for us and if a better and more lucrative opportunity comes along he does not want a prohibitive compensation clause to provide a block . All of us would be exactly the same. The fact he is not doing a McGhoo and whoring himself should demand a lot more credit from our fans, but then again some interpretations on this board on this and other stories beggars belief......
  7. Well that all depends. I have invested significantly in the Well Society and knew that my money would go to Motherwell Football Club in some form or other. Perfectly happy with that. Not quite sure what you were anticipating the Well Society to be or represent. I would say that Motherwell have been more open and sharing that virtually every other club in the SPL this season. the Well Society did not or does not mean that every aspect of the clubs business would be shared with the fans and why should it be. In saying all that I cannot believe like the rest of us that the richest club in the league and a club that has just taken in another £20m + from Champions League cannot expected to take a cut like very other SPL club. They would argue that they are the reason we still have a TV deal, but hardly the point. Quite unbelievable and unreasonable in equal measure.
  8. I was there today and the answer to the Daley conundrum was yes he truly was gash. Not one to normally slate players, but has to about the worst subs performance I have seen in the last few seasons. He must have received the ball about 5 or 6 times, a couple in acres of space, but each and every time he ran into Hearts players and each time they came away with the ball and broke for counter attacks. To be fair to McCall it is about his only signing mistake to date........ Even he had to see how woeful he was today. Apart from that another great 3 points. Another away win next week would be the dogs bollox.
  9. On such a HIGH..... Typical Motherwell. I had us down for potentially 6th or even 7th this evening. Us winning was monumental, but every other game ending in a draw was the icing on the cake. Wish I had the balls at 5-1 odds. Missed the game due to business and still expected to get reamed. Watched the game in a pub down south and when Higgy scored I think I caused 2 ladies to have a heart attack. I was swithering about Swinecastle, but even at £25 I think I will head along. The boys deserve my backing after that effort tonight. No doubt we will hand Hearts their 1st win in 6 games. There I go again
  10. Good post Brazilian and you are quite correct about teams going through a bad spell. Mosts negative posts are the result of frustration. For myself I did believe we would bouce back yesterday and felt we could sneak a win or even an away point. To lose 3-0 was hugely disappointing. Added to that fact is that we have Celtic up next. The only saving grace is that I am missing the game due to business committments / travel. When that happens we have games like skippy Sunday or the 6-6 Hibs game - the only home game I missed that season So expect the unexpected. Hopefully we will come thought this blip, but I still have fears over the defence.
  11. At 14:59 today we were on +8 GD It is not inconceivable that come 22:00 on Wed night we could be on a minus GD. Whether we should even be worried about GD at this stage is debatable, but given how close all teams are then GD could be crucial.... We may just hold onto top 6 but on this form Europe is a forlorn hope. Quite miserable right now....maybe it is coming across in my posts
  12. I forgot to mention that Ross County have the second best defensive record after Celtic, in terms of clean sheets. That and Big Pie was going along as has not seen Motherwell score in a squillion years....the jinx continues big man!! Truth is our defence is so gash it is unbelievable. We are conceding 2-3 goals in almost every game. Were it not for Higdon and Murphy we would be comfortably bottom half, which may yet happen on this evidence. Is it a coincidence that our run coincides with selling Murphy for 2 bubblies and a couple of ginger bottles...... I am supposed to be watching the Celtic game in London with my boss this week. At this rate Celtic will get into double figures. I have turned into MJC - that is how bad it is getting....
  13. Me being a miserable sh1te. That's where it comes from. Some reverse psychology also. But from what I can gather from texts we have been pretty abject. So unless we see a big turnaround.......
  14. Wheels are starting to come off big time. From BBC text it is all Ross County. How many times have we lost the 1st goal!!!!!!!! Not normally pessimistic but we needed to score 1st. Now it will be a 50 minutes of us trying to break them down and failing.........
  15. Agreed. Probably announced too close to this game to have any dramatic impact on crowd numbers. Still would hope an extra few hundred get along to Fir Park tonight. Maybe we should have an official welcome home game? Next Saturday home game whichever one that is??
  16. It does beg the question what is going on with contracts. The Manager said he would wait until after the window closed. We also have a large number of players out of contract. The problem would be that we have no idea where we will finish and what money that will bring. Plus if players knock back contracts as I suspect most will - will that have an impact on players attitudes as we finish the season. I would like McCall to stay on. Yet we have done well out of changing Managers over the past few seasons, albeit enforced by traitorous pig dogs
  17. That would be appreciated Steelboy. Still if I read your post correctly is that 3 posters including yourself were against the proposals. 3 out of say 50 attendees is 6% of the turnout. That is a fairly small % all things considered and much lower than I would have thought, even if the attendance was not that fantastic. I am quite sure a lot more than 6% of those attending were against the proposals before the meeting today.....
  18. Playing each other twice would mean a top league of 18. That is a fanciful and non sensical as any other set up. You would have crowds of 2000 at Fir Park for so many meaningless games. In a nutshell your response shows how no set up will please everyone. I am more inclined to favour whatever suits Motherwell FC well being. The board a obviously made it clear today that meant accepting the proposed changes. I am willing to wager that they have studied the implications 10 times more than the majority of posters onnhere . PS - if you choose to believe my post makes me a better supporter than you. Feel free.
  19. The bottom line is that a number of loyal and dedicated Motherwell fans went along today with an open mind and sided with the board and the proposed changes. There are so many panty wetters and doom mongers on this board it is unreal. A fair % don`t even attend games and a fair % were against the idea before actually listening to the facts and any direct implications for Motherwell FC. Me - I intend continuing to support Motherwell FC what ever league we play in and whatever the structure is. Do I think it will work long term - possible not, but I am for giving it a chance. I absolutely love the comments about playing the same teams again and again. That would be different from the current structure - how?????? Feel free to kick off........
  20. He had more years left on his contract!!
  21. I think it is a case of damned if you do damned if you don't with any reconstruction. I am far from sold on the new proposals and I am not clear exactly what they contain. I am all in favour of more excitement and any chance of winning the league (albeit slim) would be more realistic in a mini league. That said if all teams go to zero points in 3 leagues of 8 it just seems preposterous. One thing is for sure a move to a larger league be it 16 or 18 would just not work. You would have even more meaningless games and lower crowds. You are as well leaving it to a top league of 12 and introducing play offs for relegation and even euro places. Keeping everyone happy is never going to happen. As for the Well Society of which I am a member. We do not own the club - yet. The target for that to happen was circa £1.5m for over 50% of the shares. As I understand it we raised near enough 400k - which begs the question whether we will ever get near to that total in order for majority ownership to become reality. Not that I am overly bothered. It was well marketed and I felt as did many others that we could help the club with access to funds in times of cash flow problems and in the absence of a sugar daddy.
  22. Recorded ESPN to watch when I got back. At halftime they froze a shot of the St J box just before Higdon score his 1st goal. In the shot there were 5 StJ defenders ..........and 5 Motherwell players. That sums it up. We're St J to suddenly break up the park we would have been exposed. At times the gap in midfield is alarming. I sense a doing is on the way at some point when a team get their shorting boots on. That said I agree 100% with other posters that we are getting great value for money. Would much rather win games by scoring 3 or 4 goals than 0-0 draws or narrow wins or defeats. Even if it is not great for the blood pressure. In fact I am 100% certain that certain posters bemoaning the shape of the team would be the very same posters complaining we were not scoring enough goals and were boring......never happy some people....
  23. There`s a shock.....seemed such a stand up guy too...
  24. Supposedly Hibs are also sniffing around. If so they probably are in a stronger position to offer better wages a la Clancy.. It looks as if we will be looking for half a team or more come the summer. Still it does not seem to have done ICT any harm this season.
  25. Congrats Tom That said, perhaps she would have been able to give you one piece of advice........ When you take a penalty against a 6 ft + giant, the secret is to hit it it very hard and very low.
