  1. Be surprised if he came to us what with big Higgy. Think as discussed we are hopefully looking for a like for like replacement for Murphy. That said I was a big fan of Ports when he was last at FirPark
  2. LINK? I have been on a SUFC message board or two. Usual p1sh about the SPL being a poor standard. Other than that they think Jamie is the messiah. Some of the posts if I did not know it was Jamie - I would have thought they were signing Messi. Hope they are not too disappointed. He is a great talent, but as we know can be somewhat inconsistent. I fear that if he does not score a hat trick every week - he will get a hard time. Be interested to see if they play him v Oxford in the FA Cup this weekend.
  3. Also agree with this..... It is a sad state of affairs when we sell one of our best players for peanuts. I know we had little choice and with our income/crowds every penny is a prisoner. Also he has the opportunity to play for a bigger club with a much bigger fanbase. He has to try to take this opportunity. Although he undoubtedly has the skill and talent I still feel he may be a little lightweight for League 1/Championship. It will be a new experience and will test out how far he can go in the game. If it does not work out - he is more than welcome back at Fir Park. I think we are going to miss him big time...... Best of Luck Jamie
  4. What do you actually know about Sheffield United? They are by some distance the biggest club in League 1 and regularly get crowds circa 20,000. Regular premiership side - probably not, but they are certainly a Championship size club and are probably as big as the likes of Stoke, Fulham, Wigan etc. They are second top of League 1 and have as good a chance as any of making into the championship next season. Hopefully Jamie can help them make it.....
  5. Sad fact is that Sheffield United are one of the oldest teams in England - if not the oldest. Week in week out they get crowds of near enough 20,000 Law failed there before and probably has a point to prove. An exodus was bound too happen sooner rather than later.
  6. My boss is a Sheffield United fan. He texted me to say Murphy is heading to Huddersfield and not Sheffield Utd.
  7. Also the last game for near 3 weeks for those not going to Parkhead, which will be the vast majority. Every reason to attend: - 5 years ago to the day - McCall says only 1 player will go. I wish.....it ALL depends on what offers come in. For sure it will be the last home game for one possibly more players who we will miss big time. - The performance from Boxing day Every reason for there to be 5000+ home supporters, Reality = 4000 if we are lucky...... GET DOWN TO FIR PARK.
  8. On the contrary I think we have won a watch with ZFA. Not sure what his best position is and he is suspect defending, however is that such a surprise for one so young. His wing wizadry set up 2 of the 1st half goals. What more do you want from someone who is normally on the bench. I also felt he played well when he came on against St Mirren last Friday. As for the game and result. Enjoyed that result more than any other this season.
  9. Because I want us to win this game soooo much I too have the fear. We don't look capable of keeping a clean sheet. It all depends who scores first. If they do then like the cup game, they will sit even deeper and hit us on the break. We need the ball to bounce our way which I do not think it has v Dons in the cup or against St Mirren last Friday. 2-2 is my prediction, but I would settle for 5-1 :-)

I wish Higdon would kick your arse Steelboy
  11. Not just Hateley. If all our players were Messi and the Manager was Mourinho they would be told to get too f#ck for not winning the champions league every year. We ARE a small club with a small support, but quite a few fans in hear cannot wait to dish out abuse at the first opportunity. My Xmas wish is that they get tae France and the players stay. sadly no chance of that happening!
  12. Overpaid prima donnas But very now and then they do some good.
  13. Sitting in BA lounge at Heathrow. Flight delayed till 23:30!! Trying to access Steelmen Online on their computers. It is a prohibited website as on comes under Category - adult material!! Maybe they know MJC is loitering! Looking forward to the game tomorrow. Would live to think it would be straightforward. But no such thing with MFC. Hope McGowan is not playing. One final request - not to allow anyone especially McLean to shoot from 25+ yards.
  14. We are being dismantled for peanuts. If any of these players played for Dundee United or Hibs they would get 2-3 times as much is being quoted for in the papers etc. We must need the cash big time as otherwise these offers are laughable or sad whichever you look at it.
  15. Reading between the lines I suspect they believe a big turnout will materialise from the Dons fans. I will be itching to get away from the in laws in Perthshire down to Fir Park. Plus many fans from down south and overseas come home at Xmas time. If no trains are running that may be different.
  16. This thread has shown that out of 50+ posters only a select few would even consider getting rid of McCall. This is a NON thread and started by the most negative poster to inhabit this website. Says it all really.
  17. Let's be brutally honest it is NOT even a debate worth entering into. Anyone who thinks McCall has done a poor job in the last year and a half with the resources he has - needs their head examined and locked away for the safety of the general public.
  18. I guess the reality is that we have to piss with the pr1ck we have. What I mean is that we probably have a better squad than we can afford, but that is still woefully short of quality, outside of say 12-14 players, which in turn means there can be NO plan B that everyone goes on about. Our squad is weaker in numbers and depth than all the city clubs inc St Johnstone. So whilst last night was depressing is it really unexpected? And finishing 3rd last year and sitting 3rd this year means to me that S McCall and the team have by and large been doing a very good job, which some posters on here simply fail to accept. Each to there own. As KMCalpin (Dave) mentioned above, yes our cup form has been poorof late. At least we are losing to Aberdeen, Celtic, Rangers, Levante etc. It was not that long ago we were losing to Ayr, Partick Thistle & Forfar!!!
  19. Serious Question Why is anyone bothering to respond to this post/thread? It is a waste of your time and just feeds the image of MJC being the biggest moaner known to Steelmen Online, If you ignore hopefully he will stop posting or at least take a more measured view of Motherwell and Stuart McCall - unlikely but you never know....
  20. We were the better team in my opinion in the 1st half. Looked comfortable on the ball. Yet another defensive lapse, this time by Cummings cost us the goal and it was all downhill from there. We just look like we will concede in every game at the moment. Still we are 3rd in the SPL, so some comments about the team, players and Manager are a wee bit OTT as expected.
  21. The team is fine as it is...in terms of what is at our disposal at any rate. The way I see it from a midfield 4 we have 3 forward thinking playesr in Murphy, Humphrey and Law. This is why we have been exposed time and again in midfield. This would happen less if Carswell came in for Law, but then we would not score a second goal like yesterday. As stated in a previous post it does mean that we will be under the cosh for some games and just have to hope we can score more than them....
  22. By whom. The media? I have been talking constantly about the fact we allow teams to roam freely in that key area. Worse still is our inability to stop crosses from coming into our box ably demonstrated last weekend v Aberdeen in the cup. A simple defensive duty and we would not have to turn up to Fir Park this coming Tuesday. We are sitting one point of second place - so cannot moan to much, but I knew the second Ross county goal was coming and by the sound if things so did most in the home ends. With all due respect Ross county are not Barcelona...we should be in a position to not allow them 3-4 attempts at goal until they score. I think this is the way it will be till end of the season. Depends who leaves at Xmas. But we have more flair players in our team, which in summary means they create better than defend. There will not be manyn 0-0 games involving the Well this season that much is for sure.
  23. It has been covered millions of times before but....................thank Christ we are not in the bottom 3 or what would our crowds be? Sitting top half and home crowds of 3000+. I know it is Xmas and I know there is a perilous economy, but I was taken by some comments early in the thread about fans having to get themselves up for even attending - WTF Home results have not been great, but the performances themselves have not been that bad. I drive through (or more accurately get driven through) from Edinburgh. I was looking forward to the game today..... This is not a post about who suppoprts the team more or is a better supporter. I just wish more would get up for the home games and I hope we get a decent turn out for Tuesday night given the prices and the importance of the game...
  24. I would sum it up by saying we were brilliant and shite in equal measure. Our attacking play at times was a joy. Our defending at times was abysmal. We were playing well in the 1st half and should have been ahead. Then we get the 2nd goal in the 2nd minute of the 2nd half and after that instead of taking confidence we play gash. Ross Counties 2nd goal was coming as we seem to give teams acres of space on the edge of our box to shoot at will. Higdon had a very good game as is the norm these days, but once he was subbed we were forced to play the ball on the deck and hey presto we were a revelation and probably deserved the 3 points. Average season if you believe the pundits, but one point behind ICT and ahead of Hibs and Aberdeen who have been getting MOST of the plaudits. Ross County were an extremely hard working team and no-one will win easy against them...that is for sure.
  25. If that actually comes to pass. Remember we had a team full of flu before we dished out a 5-1 thrashing to ICT. I still suspect Rae, Fraser and Hayes will be in their line up tomorrow. If they are not then we should be favourites. Looking forward to heading up tomorrow. The cup is always special and a good atmosphere. Hope we take a decent crowd to support the boys after their recent good away performances
