  1. Do not think so somehow. We are well served for strikers. Unless the club knew Murphy was offski. I am more concerned at those who could leave the club than anyone coming in. Randolph, Murphy, Humphrey, Hutchison + Law are on the at risk list. Would have liked that wee Jambo barsteward as we are needing a replacement for Jennings. Needs his head examined going back to Tynecastle. Would like to know if we were really that close to signing him ot paper/media talk. Other than that I am perfectly happy with our Squad. Last night proved we actually have a little strength in depth. Hopefully with Europe behind us we can get back to concentrating on the SPL and League cup EDIT: Computer taking on a life of its own and double posting. I see rumours that Paddy McCourt to Hibs. Would be a good signing for them.

  3. The deal is dead and McCall has said as much. In fact I read that it was possibly only a loan we were after, which could explain if he gets offered a permanent deal why he is looking elsewhere! I would have been very pleased to get him on board, but if he and his agent are playing the field and using us to engineer a better move...most Hearts fans do not want him near the club. I reckon he may well end up at Dundee Utd. I accept that is the way the system works, but I am also of a mindset, that if his perfect move fails to materialise, then we do not give him the option of a fall back!! I also accept we need to sell 1 or 2 players, but I would be delighted if we manage to keep the squad we have and add a combatative midfielder in the Jennings mould. like Ryan Stevenson dare I say....
  4. Haggis may well have a point. By all accounts he was all but signed yesterday. Now that may not have been the truth, but something went tits up. If he goes back to Hearts, then he truly is a thick cnut. After all that happened. I suppose he and the Gorgie faithful will forgive and forget, but virtually every one to a man were calling him what for when he thought he was Fir Park bound. They might have to eat some humble pie......
  5. Anything less than a drubbing is a moral victory given the team we have out! I have seen no highlights, but you can almost put your mortgage on Higdon goal being inside :-(
  6. Just got the following alert from the travel company I work with: Spain South 30 Aug Threat Level – High Severe rain warning issued in Alicante, Valencia, Girona, Barcelona and Tarragona regions A severe rain warning has been issued in Alicante, Valencia, Girona, Barcelona and Tarragona regions of Spain today. The warning is in place until midnight. There is a chance of flash flooding. Motorists should drive with caution.
  7. According to quotes they only paid £50,000 for him. He only started 12 games and scored 1 goal. Their fans have him down as another "poor Jewell signing"! If he came on board and replicated his Hearts from I would more than happy.
  8. I would be delighted if the mobile tatoo parlor joined us!! Was one Hearts best players. Of course I now fully expect Aberdeen to try and hijack this deal. Doubt it would happen. Wish this stuff can be kept out the news until it happens. SSN says so....
  9. Couple of bits actually: The fact that you needed to even mention the possibility of getting dragged into a dogfight at the bottom end of the table.. + The fact that some stars "have not kicked their own arse all season" Barring a miracle we will be out of the Europa this Friday. That will allow us to get back to concentrating on the league. Our squad is small enough for the SPL, let alone competing in Europe. Fun (kind of) while it lasts. We have played 4 games, 3 of them after tough midweek Euro games. We are unbeaten. In fact how about some on this board recognising that we have toughed it out in 2 games, games we would have probably lost in previous seasons - St J at home and St Mirren yesterday. Once the dust settles we will be competing for the top half, of that I am sure. The second point - ALL SEASON - we are 4 games into the season. Sure some have played below the standard they showed last season, but come on..... I had £25 on a draw, but would rather have lost the money. We were lucky yesterday to get a point, but St Mirren have a habit of playing well against us and rank against just about everyone else! They had plaudits for their great football last season and still finished in the bottom half. My concerns was the amount of crosses we let into our box unchallenged and eventually proved our undoing! We were well exposed on the left time and again until ZFA came on. Disappointed McCall did not address that as it was a huge surprise it took until the 93rd minute to punish us. I suspect next Sunday will be like both the St M + St J game. Players tiring in the second half. We could do with a win, but another draw may well be on the cards. The international break should allow us to regroup, hopefully add a couple to the squad and kick on..
  10. Milo out does his usual p1sh. That takes some doing
  11. The only consolation is that by not reaching the Group Stages we do not have to play another 5 or 6 ties on a Thursday night with a squad that may struggle to compete in the upper half of the SPL, let alone play Europe/SPL for the best part of 2 months. Yes we may have made a million +, but I think it would have f#cked our SPL campaign before it started. That + it would have meant another 5 or 6 Sunday fixtures. Enjoyed the trip to Athens and the game we gave Pana at home, but I am afraid tonight was as enjoyable as a kick in the haw maws. Hopefully we can perform better on Sunday and get the 3 points v St Mirren.
  12. I predicted 7000 and I don't think we will be too far off that mark. That would be a very decent crowd for a league game, so I think it is an OK turnout. Levante are not a household name. If it was Inter Milan then we would have got well over 10,000. As long as the 7000 make the noise of 9000+ we should be okay.
  13. I imagine the most we could ever consider offering would be circa £2k per week. For someone who was on 10 times that - it is a hell of a climb down. Sure he has no club at the moment, but I reckon he could get £5k+ per week down south and will wait to see if that transpires. He will turn out for us again one day, but sadly it will be when his best days are behind him PS - I hope he is paying for his "free" player meals at lunchtime after training
  14. Disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. I wonder if he will continue to train with us?? As long as he does not end up at Hearts, Hibs, Utd or Aberdeen.....that would p1ss me off. Good luck to him and hope he gets his career back on track soon.
  15. If it is Liligo.com then they look legit judging by research and their website. That said there should be NO problem for paying by credit card. I would not pay for anything bought on internet by any other payment than credit card, just for the protection it offers.
  16. I think we will do well to get over 7000. I sincerely hope we do. But tbh Levante as good a team as they will no doubt be - are not a household name. If we got Liverpool - it would have been a sell out. Still if we can get combined crowd of 16,000+ at an average of £20+ - still £300k+ in gate receipts and hospitality that we would not have got were we not in Europe. Then we have the group stage games to add in Anyone in the know whether we have got any form of TV deal with the spanish?
  17. I like most on here are sceptical this will ever come to pass. Also what is McCall doing announcing this even if there was the faintest chance, unless he is doing Faddy a favour and trying to drum up interest. However and it is a big IF..............he signs I think it only fair that MJC and all other naysayers drive a large rusty nail through their nether regions live on MFCTV. Think about it - it would be a double dose of happiness
  18. I am a little confused by the STV story and the official MFC story. The MFC one states we have knocked back bids that were significant - how can £150k and £250k be construed as significant, even with our negotiation history. I was pretty sure Hutchy would be off b4 the transfer window and I suspect that will start the bidding process. We should be looking at minimum £800k+ for Hutch. 2 years left on his contract. No hurry and hopefully he will add value. Law is slightly different if he has only 12 months left. But would still be looking for £500k Both would be big losses, but would allow us to bank near enough £1m and hopefully anything left over to bolster the squad. Faddy for Law
  19. Pretty much agree with this summary of the game. The doom merchants need to get a grip ffs MJC you get used to his constant stream of negative pish.... But in the circumstances that was a good point after playing in midweek against tough opponents in a trillion degrees heat. 1-0 down with 10 men - that is a game we would have lost in most of the seasons I have watched the Well. I felt in general the players played well. I feel Ramsden is a find. Already convinced he is a MUCH better option than Clancy and at times his attacking forays were a joy to behold. Hutch MOTM - hence why it is unlikely he will be here after the transfer window closes, Murphy was well below par even by his recent poor standards. Perhaps playing on the wrong side of the pitch but he needs ready brek by the bucket load.
  20. Would like to think the same way....but playing Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Villareal et al might just mean they are slightly better than us and that not playing in Europe will in fact not be much of an issue.....
  21. Just not the London Cabbie way.....sleeping is for poofs I think I might wait until after home game before making a final decision whether to travel. Would hate to get a doing at home and have committed to the trip with little chance of progression. Athens was different. Champions League + Acropolis + Mythos + 95 million degrees....
  22. Yes and no Dave. Would love to watch Motherwell at Anfield. For those of us who were in Athens, would welcome a less expensive trip. Plus it would without doubt be the most profitable tie for the club, assuming we will get beat by the other seeded sides. Doubt it will happen though. Even if accurate only a one in 5 chance of getting that draw....
  23. Just back at the hotel. Has anyone said how bloody hot is.... Drunk 4 litres of water/ beer since 11am local time and not needed a pee :-) Supposedly the local police have advised Motherwell fans not to use the Metro to the game tonight. hence the bus offer. But who wants to get to the ground 3 hours before kick off. Over the top in my opinion. We may get a taxi but not their bus offer....
  24. I reckon a third of that flight at least will be Well fans possibly more. Effectively the last flight into Athens and allows most to work the majority of the Tuesday. 8 from the East of Scotland branch including myself. I am sure you will find someone to share a taxi.... Edit to add: We are on the BA flight dept after 9pm arr into Athens at 02:30. Not sure going by times quoted you are on the same flight???
  25. As long as we score a goal next week for the travelling fans If we could sneak the 1st goal, then we could dream for a few minutes before they put the 4 past us.......
