  1. What he says..... Ojamma is a rough diamond. He will do things this season that will have us on the edge of our seats. Equally he will do things that have us on the edge of despair.... He should be more aware of those around him and he needs to learn that. He is afterall still very young. There is room for both in the team...if we can keep a hold of Murphy..
  2. Can I suggest that people stop responding to Steelboy. He is entitled to his opinion. But every post is a dig at one player or another. trust me it will save you the energy.... If he supported Barcelona, he would be on their fans forum moaning that Messi only scored 70 goals last season!!!!
  3. IMHO that is bollox. I like the look of Ramsden and think he will prove to be a better player than Clancy. Pleased with the team as a whole. Lasley and Law were immense. Their second goal was so clinical and summed up the difference in quality. That said we gave as good as we got and 2-0 was a little flattering for the Greeks I heard there were approx 10 scouts at the game. Most of whom were having a look at Big Hutchy. Not sure we will keep him until the end of transfer window......
  4. ^^^^^THIS^^^^^ There is no way he will start with Cummins or Hetherington as previous poster. Ramsden will start with Hutchy in central defence. I would OJ plays behind Higdon rather than in front. He is more mobile so can join midfield and/or get onto Higgy's knockdowns. My only Q mark is if he goes more defensive and keeps OJ on the bench and adds another midfielder....
  5. Met up with the man himself for a pint tonight in Edinburgh. He has invested in a very impressive and smart Motherwell FC / Essex flag. Hopefully it will be unveiled in the Cooper stand tomorrow night. If I was tech savvy I would be able to upload the photo, but I am not
  6. 3 possible scenarios: Win tie v Panathanaikos = CL play off and Europe Group stages = total potential income £4m from UEFA prize money, gate receipts and tv revenue Lose tie v Panathanaikos and win Europa game to get into Europa Group stages = up to £2m from gate receipts, UEFA prize money and tv revenue lose tie v Pana and lose Europa Cup tie = up to £1m from gate receipts etc I have discounted winning CL play off as that would deliver £6m + You could argue strongly that the Pana is the biggest game for the club ever in terms of potential revenue. I suspect the last option will be the reality, but the revenue of up to £1m is still very much needed and welcome this season. How much would other teams like Kilmarnock give to be in our position right now???
  7. He is booked up. Also planning to go to Ross County.... Always remember heading back into Reykjavik after the Breidlablik game. We headed off to the pubs, he headed off to an internet cafe to book flights to Aalesund...... All because of a Willie Pettigrew panini sticker.....
  8. Ah but you see Decorator we are in the UEFA top division/category, which means that we need gold leaf bog paper next Tuesday night, whereas newspaper will do in Eastern Europe etc I have been told were we to win through to the next round we would need to upgrade the changing rooms, whilst a hole in the ground would suffice for Kazakstan......
  9. THESE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE....IF YOU WANT 2 CRACKING SEATS IN THE POD STAND
  10. I have 2 spare tickets for the Centenary for this game. One is an Adult - £45. The other a concession - £35. It means wearing a shirt and tie, but you get access to the pay bar, free programme and a half time pie, cake and coffee etc. Still going to the game, but to more hallowed seats Naturally looking for face value = £80. PM me if interested. I believe the emain stand is now sold out........but now you could have 2 tickets
  11. Statistics damn statistics...... You could think Pana have a UEFA coefficient of 50+ whilst Celtic only have 32.... You could think that there are only 19 teams in this years Champions League with a higher coefficient than Pana... Then again you could look at this stage last year: OB Odense 1 : 1 Panathanaikos Panathanaikos 3 : 4 OB Odense OB Odense win 5-4 on aggregate with a team very similar to the one we played 2 years ago. I remember both games and there was not a lot in them. In fact we were the better team in the home leg... Have faith....we need to take our chances. I hope we start OJamma as he is unpredictable yet mercurial and liable to do something special. I suspect it may Higdon up front on his own.... Edit to add - I like the big man, but would rather he had support
  12. If that is the 2nd trendiest hotel in Greece (trip advisor) then 8 more staying in that hotel...
  13. 8 East of Scotland dossers on that flight. Means only 2 days off work. Hopefully no delays at Edinburgh... I would imagine there will be quite a few Well fans on that flight...
  14. Hope we can keep the tie alive for the return leg. Worse case scenario and we don't, then i will still look forward to the 1st and possibly only chance to see my team play away in the Champions League. What will also help is the fact that even if we lose we are guaranteed another draw and another game/away trip :-)
  15. I believe the club thinks the Geeks may bring around a 1000 or so fans. They will likely be in an area of the South stand. Of course we can beat them. But we will need to play our best and hope they do not and enjoy a fair element of luck, such as no dodgy refereeing decisions over in Athens!!!
  16. Yet no one has mentioned Page yet... I actually thought both Cummins and Ramsden did well yesterday. Ramsden to me looks no worse than Clancy and maybe even a bit better and more composed. I think it would be Hutchy and one other as 1st choice central defence. We have Ramsden, Cummins, Page and possibly even Saunders to choose from when fully fit. Actually nit that bad given this is/was our main area of concern. Of course this assumes we sign Ramsden...

    Everton

Probably more like later in the morning since it is 12.30.... Agree that 3500 Well fans was a little disappointing, however it is in the middle of the holiday season. I alone know of 3 fans that did not make it along today that go to most home games.... I thought the game was quite decent. As for Faddy, well he was doing it as a favour to his close friend. He is well regarded around these parts. If it helped add a few more bums on seats then good for him . Get over it

    Everton

Really enjoyed that game today. Both teams could have scored 6 goals apiece. Draw probably about fair. Thought the young lads equipped themselves very well. Cummins, Kerr, Hetherington and Francis Angol. I was worried after the Raith game, but as hard as it is to judge in such a game as you are not sure what gear Everton were in....I must say I am a lot more optimistic after today. At times we played some very decent football. We got out of jail once or twice, but then so did Everton. Great to see Faddy, but he did not look that much better than Murphy, Law or OJamma. Henrik looked a little off the pace, but still got himself into decent positions and with more match practice will hopefully kick on from last season. Well done to Stevie Hammell. A decent turnout from Everton fans...
  19. Aaah the excitement. Where are we aff to??? I am in a meeting from 10am till 12 noon, but I am running ti, so going to try to KO earlier and finish earlier, but unlikely before 11.30....hopefully they faff about for a while before they get to the Well....

Delighted Faddy will be playing and hope it adds a few bums to seats on Saturday. Hope for a good turnout as Hammy has played over 400 games and is claret and amber through and through... That said I feel there is an element of cruelty in Faddy playing v Everton and then probably not again....what if he plays a blinder and scores a belter....
  22. A forensic analysis of every post would show some shortcomings. In hindsight I should not have included Randolph and Hammell. That said my feelings are much like Brazilians post. I am not sure another 2 weeks will deliver a finely honed and in tune team, based on the evidence so far....that is my principal concern
  23. Yes and no Findlay. Even last season I felt a lot of the time that Murphy was capable of a lot more that he was producing and the same goes for big Higdon. I like both these players and know they are as good as we are likely to get with our budget etc.. I know that these games are experimental and we had less than half of our probable 1st team out there tonight. But we are only a couple of weeks from our biggest games in recent years. If Hutchy is not back in time I worry that we will be exposed time and again in central defence.. I am pragmatic when it comed to evaluating Motherwell performances and tend to err on the side of optimism. I think we will get a better idea where we are after the Everton game as I hope we will play our 1st choice 11 for the upcoming European games
  24. It is hard to tell from pre-season games when half the 1st team is missing. That said it was an ok game. We did alright is small spells, but Raith finished the stronger and but for a bit of bad luck and poor finishing would have won the game. None of the youngsters stood out. Showed some glimpses, but nothing to get too carried away with. As for the 1st teamers. Well Las gave the ball away in midfield a few times with misplaced passes, which will get punished in Europe BIG time. Saunders had a frustrating evening and was lucky to not get booked. Ramsden looked like a carbon copy of Clancy. Composed on the ball at times. Randolph, Murphy, Higdon and Hammell much like last year - decent performances, but always get the feeling they could do better... In all honesty the Champions League games are giving me the fear right now. With our 1st team on top form from last year we could give all 4 teams a game, but missing Craigan and Jennings without similar quality replacements will leave us exposed in central defence and midfield. I hope Hutchy is fit to play......
  25. Gola Gola Gola. Murphy tap in. What was more impressive was Higdon running about like a lunatic chasing down defenders 5 mins before....
