  1. Enjoyable game so far. Higgy shot just hit the post. Reasonably open and Ramsdan looking solid albeit against 1st div team..
  2. Time to bump this thread up a little given the draw is on Friday. Will UEFA decide on Fenerbahce - is their a decision to be made? My hope again in order of preference would be: Kiev Copenhagen Athens and in distant 4th Fenerbahce Anyone know what time the draw is on Friday? I have a meeting between 10am and 12 noon....
  3. Nobody knows what the eventual outcome will be. The club expect to lose several hundred 000 £'s for Rangers being out the SPL, from hospitality and the 2 home games we would ordinarily budget for. We can survive that with the help of 2 home Euro ties (probably only 2) and the fact we have made no signings and got rid of 10 players. But if SKY re-nogotiate anything like to the level that Regan and Doncaster have been forecasting, then a handful of clubs in the SPL will be facing administration and one of those clubs could be Motherwell. We have the Well Society money and that + extra pledges from fans may see us to the end of this season. My hope is that Sky stick with what is on the table and we move on. If they reduce the deal then only by a small %, so that a more equitable distribution amongst the SPL mean any more reductions in income can be kept to a minimum. Sadly right now Sky + ESPN are calling the shots. It is annoying and depressing, but my hope is the damage to their brand and subscription numbers north of the border will mean they will take a pragmatic view.
  4. May be a blessing in disguise this result. The players needed a reality check and by the result they got 1. They may be in the Champions league and come back from the Algarve, but lower league teams show no respect!!! Those who say the result does not matter are wrong.....those that say the result does matter are wrong.... Somewhere inbetween is probably a more correct reflection. It is a friendly after all, but we ought not too lose by 4 goals to a PT side a couple of divisions below us. As stated earlier central defence gives me the fear if Hutchy is missing through injury or suspension, which he will no doubt at some point.
  5. I hope we are still talking about the grass here
  6. May just be a friendly, but our central defence sound poor. We have no strength in depth and are unlikely to get any with reduced budget. I would be a bit more comfortable with Hutch + 1. But without him we have little in the way of experience. The strikers will score and we have options, but right off it looks as if McCall is right to be concerned with this area of the team....
  7. I thought ld be the 1st this (pre) season: McCall must GO Pre-season friendly, not panicking yet, but losing 3-0 to a 2nd Division side is embarrassing.... 2 key issues, we missed half a dozen chances in the 1st 20 minutes and had we taken one or two then..... Plus losing 3 goals means the defending has been woeful. And to think I thought we would stand a chance (albeit slim) of sneaking through the Champions league ties...a huge improvement needed....
  8. Good news and good effort on your behalf... We need a sustained form of modern day crusade to get the lapsed Well fans back. I still have a seaon ticket but plan to PATG for the Club 12 game. Also considering upping my Well Society and/or sponsoring a player. Also need to twist my Old man to up his Well Society package to Claret. He can afford too....just a bit of a scrooge is all
  9. That being the case I am sure they will be happy to reduce our annual subs by 75%...... Come on BT - you know it makes sense. That said BT cannot do anything until Sky make their move....
  10. This...... I wont cancel yet as SKY will likely pull out if that is what is happening. But the NANOsecond I hear they are re-negotiating or pulling out. Goodbye Sky and will increase Well Society membership partly subsidised by my annual SKY subscription....
  11. A definite 5 for all opponents and 6 for 3 ( I am still swithering on Fenerbahce/Istanbul) and 7 for Copenhagen/Kiev That said my passport was lost/stolen at Edinburgh Airport a few weeks back. Applied straight away for replacement but no sign yet. Not panicking just yet.....
  12. I missed that and somewhat surprised it was not widely reported. I suspect the sequence of events were that the agent said to McCall it is unlikely Jenno would take up the offer and it was therefore withdrawn. Whereas Jenno had not completely written off coming back. To be fair if he was that keen to re-sign then he had nearly a couple of months to iron out any details in his contract. I very much doubt MFC would have pulled the plug if jenno was making all the right noises. Bit of a f#ck up all round. Would like to know the truth, not that it matters now..... Maybe MFC decided also to withdraw offer based on the reduction in income. Either way it leaves us weaker in midfieild for the Champions League :dash2: That is right the Champions League not the Ramsdens bl00dy Cup ----- rant over
  13. Reported where Brazilian? 1st time I have heard of this point of view. McCall said he heard through his agent that he would not be accepting our contract offer. Either McCall is telling a porky or Jennings or his agent is..... I had hoped he would sign on again, but there does come a point where if a contract offer is on the table - it is not there indefinitely - he had up to 6 weeks to decide. I wish him all the best - but he may come to regret his decision like so many more before. Probably disappear into obscurity.....
  14. I hear what you are saying, but the game was cancelled. Are Motherwell really going to say we sold 400 tickets and gave 340 refunds. Here is a cheque Rapid for £300?
  15. Bummer. Not good for the team either. I had bought 5 tickets for me and some East of Scotland Dossers. I am sure we would be due a refund, however given the circumstances I have suggested to the other 4 we let MFC keep the money. All have agreed - every penny counts and all that
  16. That quote states the following: For the time being, therefore, Fenerbahçe may participate in the UEFA competition for which they are eligible, pending a final decision of the UEFA disciplinary body on the matter The question is - when will this decision be taken? Surely before the 20th July..
  17. Like a broken record, but I will be doing this straight away ( if they do walking away) and I hope many 10's of 000's follow suit.
  18. You definitely have a point Finlay, but you do pay a premium for tickets for all shows/concerts/matches where it is a one off - which for us - Champions league probably is. To put it into perspective last year I watched Arsenal play Marseille at the Emirates + I went to Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea beat Napoli 4-1 in the Champions League. The Arsenal tickets were around £55 each and the Chelsea tickets were even more expensive than that
  19. £30 is at the top end of the scale, but it is Champions league. As much as Melvyn thinks it is a glorified friendly I and most fans on here did not get excited and worried in equal measure last season at qualifying for a meaningless friendly. Personally I would have been GUTTED had we blown the chance and possibly the only one we will ever get to play in the Champions League. Hell it is worth it to wind up fellow diddies such as St Mirren fans - have you ever played in the Champions league I will be there and really looking forward to the draw and all the attention focussed on our wee club. This club needs your support more than ever now. We paid £5 for the DDee Utd game and although it was largely meaningless - you could look it as £35 for the 2 games. You cannot take with one hand and not give with another....
  20. You might have nothing to say against them, but I bloody do. I have been saying for weeks now that if the SPL/SFA are bricking it - it can only be down to pressure from our main source of revenue - SKY TV. They pay us peanuts as it is. For a WHOLE season the SPL gets almost a 1/3rd of what the likes of QPR, WBA and Norwich get EACH. That is right those globally recognised football brands..... I would love to call their bluff. F#ck of Sky - we will set up SPL Tv or do a deal with ESPN and/or BT. Now it may just be scaremongering by the powers that be in Scottish football, but the silence from Sky is deafening. They could easily come out and stand by the decision Scottish football makes. They could even word it so it keeps the Newco fans happy. I am waiting to see the outcome, but if Sky cancel or renegotiate then I will be straight on to cancel. We should be more vocal and turn our attention on Sky supposed behaviour.
  21. On another point - a bit disappointed with Jennings. If as McCall quoted he found out via his agent, that is a bit p1ss poor given we stood behind during the betting scandal. One of my favourite players, hopefully he will make a statement or have the opportunity to say goodbye.
  22. Sky have to be behind this. I suspect they have said they will stand by the current deal if the Sevoc are away for at most 1 season. Any longer and they renegotiate or scrap the deal altogether. Motherwell could afford the impact of loss of revenue from the Sevco support. They and all clubs but Celtic would be screwed without the TV money.. Were it not for that sevco would start over again in the 3rd div.
  23. Look guys - I understand where we are with our resources or lack of resources. I hope Carswell proves to be a valuable player for Motherwell, but it gives me the fear if he is in midfield come our Euro games. It would have been hard enough with a seasoned pro like Jennings!!! That was the point I was trying to make....
  24. Nothing against Carswell, but I feel we need a replacement for Jennings more than we need another centre half. We have Hately, Hutch, Saunders, Page, Hammell and Devlin in defence. Carswell appeared a little out of his depth last season in the SPL, no more so that against the Old firm.
