Lost the commentary again. To be fair this is probably down to teething issues what with it being one of the 1st games of the season.
-
Actually think we have not been as bad as many have been saying. Plenty of possession and had a few chances 1st half. game back on for now anyway
-
I will reserve judgement on Lawless until he has had a full pre season with us. He was very decent for Livi. I say this more in hope than expectation...
-
Can we take more wrong options in the forward areas if we tried ?
-
To be fair we have been in their box more times than they have been in ours, but we could have been 3-0 down. Not getting rub of the green and Hastie and Long should have hit the target from edge of box. Strange game all told. We certainly need to score the next goal.
-
Long and Hastie should have hit the target. Could have been 2-2 by now.
-
Until Shankland shanked it. Still fuckin wake up Motherwell.
-
Feels like an end of season game. Campbell being injured is a blow. But to allow the United player all the time in the world to run forward before he found Shankland was just awful football. Magloire showing why we should have started Gallacher. Just no awareness. It probably is game over now.

That is just what I have done using the one off payment options. It would be good to see a spread between Well Society / Community Trust and Low Income / Unemployed scheme.
-
Pretty much agree with all you have said Dave. I would have preferred option for giving the club the money, but they made the choices available. Community Trust and low income/ unemployed scheme. I guess the million $ Q is how detached the club is from the Community Trust. Say for example the trust benefits to the tune of £75k. They could in theory use some of the money. But I would rather donate to Well Society + a little to the low income / unemployed scheme. The video is class and near as damn it brought a tear to my glass eye !

This. We are due 10 years training compensation for wee Al. So assuming he goes to Championship or stays in Scottish Premiership we ought to be due 10 x 60K Euros. 600,000 Euros. Would we get much more for him if he was contracted ? maybe a £1m but that would be it imho. I assume he must have a firm offer otherwise he would be daft to turn down our offer. Edit to add - could either Hibs or Aberdeen afford 600K Euros. To be fair if Hibs win the Cup then they would be due £3m potentially from Europa/Conference League.
-
This is a valid Q. Would it have made any difference ? I see he has deactivated twitter for a while anyway. No real surprise..... No doubt he is a good defender and would have played in our last 2 games for sure before this announcement. I am not sure now. GA strikes me as the kinda guy that will not tolerate players who are not wanting to be at Motherwell. He will still probably make Euro squad and as he is contracted until end of June then it probably is true we will get the UEFA participation fee. So does our not playing him last 2 games put his place in the squad in jeopardy ? Edit to add - Dec could have said to Aberdeen let’s wait until end of season. Maybe they thought it would get out anyway. Just another unsavoury end to this whole affair. Not bitter but I wish him no luck at all after his contract ends.

This is Motherwell. We could have Pep Guardiola winning us the Premier League and Europa cup and he would not be universally accepted :-) GA was my choice for Manager, but even I thought he would have a difficult time dealing with this squad and some of the issues that have been spoken about. We seem to have a decent GK and defence. A decent attack. Our problem has been in midfield where we have or had too many similar defensive types. Down to injuries and Polworth being a bit of a dick. Yesterday we were much better in midfield. Foley made a big difference.

Deadly finisher. But could not trap a bag of cement. I laughed loudest when McGinley pinged him a pass at 100mph. He couldnae control it at 1mph. Knows where the goal is though....
-
Worked wonders :-) Time for a celebratory beer. Into 7th position also. The bottom half trophy is up for grabs.
-
I wonder if we are trying to hold on ?? All Killie now...
-
Be gutted if Wee Al leaves (and he probably will) and we don’t get to say goodbye :-( Hopefully were that to happen he can come back (assuming he is not in this league) and say goodbye to the crowd. Whilst he has not had the best of seasons (who has) he always tries his best and keeps his head down. A real professional. As to Gallacher. Probably best there are no fans in the ground. I suspect there would be a few murmurings from the crowd. Me. I think he has been a good signing. Excellent last year not so good this. The Captaincy seems to be a jinx. McHugh springs to mind. I am in the camp you play your strongest team to finish as high up the league and hopefully higher that St Midden. I expect Alexander will do that and the Board and CEO would hope so too. An extra £150k is equivalent of a home game v Old firm. And one if not two players. That plus I know for a FACT that anyone who says just play the kids or fringe players or those that will be here next year would be the very same ones on here moaning if we lost the last 3 games of the season !
-
My heart bleeds for St Mirren......karma....these things even themselves out over a season. They will probably score and take it to Pen kicks as Killie down to ten men due to injury.
-
Arithmetic was never my strong point. I realised I had added 10 years. Still point stands. Sadly you need all the moving parts in terms of a poor Celtic or a Rangers that have won what they most coveted. That said St Johnstone were good value tonight. There is no way this current team could have kept Rangers at bay at Ibrox for near enough two hours. No doubt next year we will reach the semis of one of the cup competitions where we will play Rangers or Celtic.....
-
In a way it does Dave. But imagine St Johnstone winning a cup double when we have won one cup in the last 80 years. That would be galling as a Well fan. Taking nothing away from St J. I watched the game tonight and whilst they carried some luck they were so well organised and did not give Rangers a minutes peace. Whereas last few months we have sat back and allowed teams to attack at will and put in crosses at will. We don’t seem to have the luck of the draw. We beat Rangers in league cup and play Celtic in final. Not sour grapes just jealousy that a team who are arguably smaller than us could win two cups. Albeit it would be gutting not to be there to see either victory. Lets hope GA makes us tougher to beat next year and who knows.
-
This.....Pant wetting before we even see who is leaving and who we sign is a bit sad truth be told. Lamie still has the potential to screw up, but since he has played centrally he has been alright. Arguably better than Dec since he came back in the side. I maybe worried if we had Lamie and Mugabi only at CB but if we could unearth another Aldred or Prime Hartley then we should be OK.
-
To be fair I did not think either penalty miss was shocking. Lawless hitting the post shows his thoughts that with a 6ft 7 keeper u need to put it in the corner. Probably more disappointed with OHara as he is usually quite good. As someone said elsewhere - hit them hard and low v a man mountain keeper. Disappointed but to be fair to Hibs their penalties were perfect especially the two tucked away in the corner.
-
What were the tactics today. We can shitfest our way through games v Hamilton and Morton. In a way it is a blessing as Rangers would embarrass us in the semi or final if we continue to play such meek pish. At least have a go FFS.
-
I am watching the game and Hibs are dominating possession. Eventually they will capitalise. And they have just done so ! I am sorry but waiting for Hibs to score is fucking garbage tactics !
-
Thought it was a 50 / 50 challenge. Lucky not to behind. Not because Hibs have had loads of chances. But they have had the ball in our box on a lot of occasions and a break here or there and they would have taken advantage and will do second half. We need to show more composure. All too often we lump it up the park. Defence playing well especially SOD and McGinley on either flank.
