  1. If we finish 3rd - when do we enter the Champions League? If we finish 4th - when do we enter the Europa Cup? I thnik we have ensured Europa Cup football next year with the result today
  2. Absolutely delighted with that performance and result today, barring the collective brain FART that led to their goal. Thought it would be a lot closer than that and allied with the draw at Tannadice it does guarantee European Football. So WELL done the Management team and the players. Excellent effort and all we need to do is finish 3rd to make it a very special season :yahoo: I still expect DDee Utd to pick up points against either or the Old firm, so a point or 3 at Tynecastle would go down well. Looking forward to that game. Expect it to be a cracker... SUN IS SHINING............Motherwell score 5 - good day to be a Well fan
  3. Oi - stop picking on me.......I can't help it I was born in the good old U S of Hillhead.............. How did I know this thread was going to be resurrected. Must have been full of Malt at the time. On a serious note though, just watching Sky Sports News and they are talking how St James Park (no Sports Direct p1sh) and Newcastle fans bouncing at the prospect of qualifying for the Champions League. .................. well............................................... We are in exactly the same position. Is Fir Park bouncing??? Are the Motherwell fans bouncing??? Do we deserve Champions league football? If we get circa 3500-4000 home fans on Saturday, I would (tin hat on) say no...we should have a full Cooper and East stand and create a decent atmosphere. Get you ARSE along to Fir Park this Saturday........that better Jay?
  4. I would say a win is a must as is scoring first. A big bonus for us is the fact they will be missing Sandaza and Croft, their 2 best players imho. St Johnstone were poor against DDee United, so I expect them to be better next week, but if we can get back to our better form I think we will win by the odd goal.
  5. Hugely deflated after that performance. We started playing for a draw from the 1st minute and it was even more noticeable 5 to 10 mins into the 2nd half when we were constantly going backwards when we got near the half way line I am not saying all out attack is the way to beat Celtic, but have a bit of belief FFS. Do you think United will play that way when Celtic go to Tannadice.....don't think so. You can put your house on the Arabs taking points of one or even both halfs of the old firm. Daley is an imposter....I would have substituted him myself if I could after he jogged back after losing the ball, leaving the Celtic player all the space he needed to push forward. I would have liked McCall to come out and say in his aftermatch comments that it was NOT nearly good enough, instead of the usual "not feeling sorry for ourselves" lame cr@p. We have done really well this season. The Manager and virtually all the players. But they need to pick it up and sharpish or we WILL lose out on 3rd and even 4th spot. On that perfromance today we will be lucky to pick up another point, let alone 3, 4 or 5 that we will need. Saving grace is we have played the toughest opponent in the top half and the Arabs arguably the weakest. But we could and probably will go into next weeks match v St Johnstone in 4th place. A win is looking a 100% necessity.
  6. A draw today would be a great result. At 4 points ahead of United, we would only need to match their results in the next 3 games to render the final game a celebration. Given 2 of those 3 games for them would be the Old Firm then I think we should be able to do that. Still my gut feeling is it will go down to the final game due to our inability to take anything from either of the Old Firm...
  7. 2 out of our 3 rivals picked up Zip today, so not bad at all. A draw would have been preferred for St J v DDee Utd, but United deserved the 3 points and thinking about it, that was arguably their easiest fixture in the run in. If we can pick up 3 points or more in the next 2 fixtures - worse case scenario we will be 3 points ahead and DDee United will have us away and both of the Old Firm still to play.... GAME ON..
  8. Just reported on BBC Scotland. Good news. Now for a goal v the Tic.....
  9. One things for sure one of our rivals for 3rd spot will take a point or all 3 v one or both of the Old firm. So why not us???? I probably know the answer to that Q. Celtic don't miss the sitters v Motherwell that they do v the other sides. Quite expecting a 35 yard screamer from Ki tomorrow for normal service to be resumed. But what a start to the post split fixtures if we could get 3 points or even one from this game. Best case scenario is we are same points ahead with one game less being played v Celtic. I do believe that Dundee United will pick up 3 points v St Johnstone - although a draw would be best. I also think Hearts will pick up a point v the Gers. Mon the Well - 5 cup finals - nothing less than 100% PLEASE................
  10. Quite agree Matt. But it is hard enough getting 4000 Well fans to FirPark when we are sitting 3rd in the league and playing some decent football. More fans will be lost if we were playing poorly and had a crap team, because we had significantly less revenue, than the few on here threatening a boycott. Time for the tin hat......probably a few on here would turn their back because of poor results who are threatening to stay away if the club try and protect revenue by allowing the Gers back in the SPL. Best way forward is a new co Gers in the 3rd division and a fairer distribution of tv revenue, so that even if it is decreased the non old firm clubs do not lose out to the tune it threatens their very existence. If Sky were to pull the plug on the SPL as a result of Rangers in the 3rd division, then I would cancel my sky subscrition within a nanosecond and I suspect there will be a fair few more than the 2000 the poster was referring to above.
  11. If the clubs vote to keep a Newco company in the SPL then I will be far from happy, but as stated on my reply earlier that will not stop me going to watch Motherwell FC Any such decision by SPL clubs boards is to protect the TV money, so that we can watch a reasonable product on the pitch. I would rather that instead of threatening the club as many are doing on here, there was a greater push by fans of all SPL clubs to cancel Sky subscriptions if they withdraw or substantially reduce their contract just because of the possibility of Rangers not being in the SPL. If most Chairman new that the TV deal would remain then I am sure most would want to see a newco Rangers start life in the 3rd division.
  12. Why the f#ck would I want to give up on a lifetime of ups and downs and my overriding passion in life, because of that shower. Sure I would not be happy if they get away without further penalty, but I don't get the logic of letting their future affect mine. Each to there own but I don't get it
  13. Alan - can we expect new home and away tops next year? If so - hopefully better quality than the away top. The Bukta and Canterbury tops were silky smooth much like the EPL tops, but the silver top was rough on my sensitive skin :-) Feel free to take the P1ss, but their is a serious point in there.....
  14. I will have some of what Postie Jims been drinking..... Do agree with the other poster regarding Dee U. Don't see them taking 4 points from the Old firm. In fact it would work in our favour if the Old Firm won all games v rest of the top 6. Would mean the rest just have 3 games to overhaul the current points deficit. One thing is for sure there will be a surprise result v Old firm. Hopefully for us, but one of our rivals are bound to collect 3 points and a win somewhere along the line v the manky mob. I called the gap almost 100% at the split although I did think United would get a draw at Pittodrie. I figure we will collect a win v either United or St Johnstone and two draws putting us on 60points. Hopefully that will be enough. Certainly would very much like it to be confirmed before United come to Fir Park.
  15. Not often I would argue with your logic big man, especially if you are standing right next to me.....................but Even with a poorer goal difference that point today means that: St Johnstone now need to win 2 more game than us or win 1 game and draw 2 more games than us. For their goal difference to matter they need to be level on points..... Hearts now need to win 2 more games and a draw more than us, rather than just 2 wins. For DDee Utd today's point is less effective as they still would need to win 2 more games than us which was the same before today's game. That was a great point to win after being a goal down with 10 minutes left. All in all I thought the team played well (having just watched recorded game) - thanks to in -laws second half especaiily the team never gave up and played some decent footie. I am quite upbeat....
  16. That is fine then Jay. I am hypersensitive dontcha know Excellent point after being 1 down for most of the match. Worried about OJamma, capable of a lot better and hopefully we will see him return to form post split. Hutchy looking the dogs bollox. Sure there will be a few clubs watching him.... Not a great performance but crucially stops the rot. Bring on the champions!!!
  17. Not sure the two posts above were in response to my post. If so - read carefully. I said a win would probably secure Euro football. No where did I say it would secure 3rd!! Probably need 61 points to be assured of 3rd spot.
  18. A win today would all but guarantee European football. As I could not see the 3 teams below us all winning the 3 games post split that would be required. This is a massive game and I hope McCall gets that through to the players and more importantly they take it on. As long as we give our all then whatever the result their will be no argument from me. What we cannot afford is another insipid performance such as the one down at Kilmarnock. Come on Motherwell you can do it....
  19. Win tomorrow and I think a win and a draw post split should see us over the line. Even a draw and we are no worse off than St J and one better than DDee U after today with a game less. Need to keep an eye out for Hearts mind you. Mon the boys.......
  20. That will only happen if the league have suddenly decided to award St Johnstone 4 points for a win over ICT at home I thought most realistic scenario would see us 5 points ahead of both teams at the split. But that meant factoring a draw for St J up at ICT, when in fact they got all 3!! I think the likelihood is they will beat ICT in Perth, so will close the gap to 2 unless we pick up a point or 3. I hope the Dons give United a hard time, but again would not rule out a win for United, although hopefully the Dons players will be playing for a place in the semi final team. It is going to be close for sure. Probably down to the final game. Positive news is that we can afford 1 or more slip ups - they cannot. And come Sunday we will know exactly what to do to remain at least 5 points ahead of both teams and 9 ahead of Hearts.
  21. 2 wins from 6 should see off Hearts - as they would pretty much need 4 or 5 wins from the last 6. 3 wins from 6 should see off United and St J as they would need 5 wins from the last 6, which would be tough given the 3 teams play each other and the Old Firm twice. That is why the Hibs game is CRUCIAL. A win there would see us needing only 1 more win IMHO to guarantee European football and 2 more wins to almost guarantee Champions League qualifiers...
  22. You must be blind if you never saw a push...not saying he defended it well at all, just that Aluko definitely nudged him in the back....which WAS a free kick.....
  23. At least we will have the advantage of knowing what result the other teams have had. But with Hearts playing Dunfermline, DDee Utd playing Aberdeen and St J playing ICT means, that more than likely means that anything less than 3 points will see us lose more ground...
  24. Let us just hope our club see the money for these tickets. Would like to know what the arrangement is/was???
  25. You live in hope.........but the h**s seem to be playing OK today and any result today will give them a boost. Annoyingly they have kept virtually a full squad despite being in admin and owing the taxman squillions Annoyingly they were missing half their team when they played DDee Utd away. That said we played a team yesterday when they were missing half their squad and look what happened.... On the basis of how we played yesterday and how Rangers are playing today a draw is the best we can hope for. We also need to hope that St J and DDee Utd stop winning every game they bloody well play
