Well that 2nd half was woeful. 3-1 going on for 5 or 6. To be fair it did not help being minus 4 1st team players and 3 of them out from only yesterday........cannot have helped McCalls plans, but even so a bit more bottle would not have gone amiss. What is up with Murphy - totally lost if of late. I don't think I have ever seen him win a 50-50 challenge. At one stage we were 3 on 1 and he passes to a killie player As for Killie - well big Mixu dereves credit for unearthing Silva, Eremenko and Sissoko, all very accomplished players. Cannot help wonder how they are paying their wages..... I would take a cup final over top 6. But to have neither would be a kick in the haw maws and affect us financially for next year. Come on DDee Utd....who would ordinarily take care of ICT with little problem, but you just know because we want that to happen is a good reason why it probably wont.....

Maybe Randolph should consider withdrawing from the RI squad unless he is guaranteed some game time? The other issue is SKY. If they were in a position to televise the replay on that date, then that would be another £80k+ for both teams. If it is moved and not televised, then you can understand why DDee Utd would not wish to lose out on TV revenue. That said and as others have pointed out - if DDee Utd were missing 2 or more key players, then I am sure they would move mountains to get the date changed. Hollis is an adequate deputy, but he is no Steve Banks and were it to go to penalties well he may surprise, but then again...................

That's as maybe, but if the players can play like that again then we are in with a real chance of progressing to the semi's. Gomis will be missing for them due to suspension and we will have Jennings back. Let us hope we avoid the winners of the Celtic tie in the draw - assuming of course Celtic win. That would put even more meaning into the rplay should we draw any of the other 4 teams left in the draw. I was spot on predicting a 2-2 draw, so I will stick my neck on the line and predict a Motherwell v Aberdeen semi final - it is fated to happen - well I hope so.
-
Bottom line is that DDee Ut have a decent squad with strong physique and are IMHO a fair bit better than us right now. What will make the difference is that all our players need to bring their A game. That means NO fannying about around our box by Hately for example, or Murphy playing as he is capable of and Sutton playing like he did against Celtic and not on other numerous occasions. If we let them bully us on and off the ball, it will be a long afternoon. If the Celtic Motherwell turn up, the least we will get is a draw. If the ICT or St Mirren Motherwell turn up then it will be a comfortable afternoon for the home side. I will go for 2-2 and 8 clubs in the semi final draw on Monday

You may be right, but perversely we perhaps should be more worried were our remaining games against ICT, St Mirren, Hamilton etc At least we are playing teams that should have a go which seems to suit us. Today was a major disappointment and whilst we have no right to expect us to win, I think we are all entitled to wonder why we did not appear to be up for the fight once again. Jury out on McCall but he sould be putting a firework up some backsides. Fans can accept when a team gives their all and lose, but not the cack served up today and against St Mirren. As for the comment regarding Foran. What the F#ck......... I am/was a big fan of his, but to suggest we should look at him at all differently, all because he was doing his job for the team that pays his wages is quite frankly ludicrous - that is putting it politely

Playing reasonably well. Need another goal or a large slice of luck to win though. Ref seems to give free kicks to Celtic for the same challenges where we get nowt. Hateley played ok so far, but seems to lose concentration every now and then + he tries to play the smart pass/ball on the edge of our box, when a hoof is probably required. Hope it does not come back to haunt us. Fingers crossed
-
It looks like it is a story of one step forward two steps back at the moment. This is Motherwell in a nutshell St Mirren had not won for 8 games FFS. 8 of the last 11 games Motherwell have scored NIL......
-
I don't disagree. It seems to get no better regardless how much money is spent. Sure the weather has been crap but same old same old....
-
Hope I am not tempting fate, but St Mirren were woeful against Hibs today. Was hoping for a 0-0 after 85 mins, but Hibs probably edged it. Their defending at the Hibs goal was abysmal. They always make life difficult for us and they will be starting to panic a little. That said if we do not take 3 points against this mob, we probably do not deserve a top 6 place. There I have gone and jinxed us

True, but many in the media have the platform to do so, but do little else other than cream over all things old firm and cannot and will not criticise for fear of the resultant backlash...
-
Just seen the goals on Sky Sports... Great glancing header from Franny Jeffers........is it possible could we re-ignite yet another career. Also good goal by Murphy - held of the defender and slotted into the corner. Not an easy goal. Pleased for the lad. Craig Broon also on saying how that was the poorest performance yet...good glad you saved it up for your old team...you old fart..........
-
Feckin get it roon ye gramps. One of the best wins in a weeeee while. I can hear the boos ring out at Sh1ttodrie...... Delighted for the fans that made the trek up to Aberdeen. Leap 3 places in the league - yeeha
-
Quite - I was hoping for at least a point.........we are better playing against 12 than 10
-
Actually I think you may find that you can choose to bring along a Motherwell legend to the meal as well. Maybe I have misread it, but that is my take on it. He is a little bit more than a fan IMHO, because he has the balls to have a go at the old firm and establishment. He also told paw Broon in no uncertain terms he was a Judas so and so. Sure he has an ego, but so do we all...........
-
With goal difference taken into account Hamilton would have to win 5 MORE games than the Well b4 the end of the season - not going to happen....especially if we take 3 points next Saturday or even just the 1. Hamilton are doomed.....their only hope is that St Mirren can be caught.

It certainly does appear as if things were just as bad in the 10 games preceding McCall's arrival. In fact we were fairly unlucky to lose against Rangers in the CIS semi, Killie in the league and even St J needed a dodgy penalty to win that game. 6-0 is embarrassing for sure but most posters realise we were playing with a couple of unift/injured players alongside a few youngsters. I will stay on the fence until the summer and at least until the next 3 games. Someone was on here writing off the Aberdeen result - why?? They were gash against Dunfermline. I suspect most fans (including myself) will be even more apoplectic should we get beaten comfortably midweek. All our Players should give 110% on Tuesday night, anything less and they should be ashamed. Then we have 2 home games v 2 bottom sides in the SPL. Anything less than 5 points from these 3 games and we are in trouble.. As for that old chestnut - lack of money. We are not awash with it for sure, but we must have banked a minimum of £500k we did not budget for, in terms of 2 sky TV games, CIS semi and at least 1, possibly 2 games in Europe. I think the best we will do is finish 7th or 8th and if we are lucky a Sc cup semi or even final. Still may have a reasonable season yet......
-
If I remember rightly McCall said last week he was giving the players a few days off. Well that worked out well did it not. This group of players need to spend every spare minute learning how to defend, tackle, score.......where do you begin. 6-0 is inexcusable. I know Aberdeen lost 9-0 but.........maybe we should go for their Manager
-
Our goal difference is not that bad, although it is getting worse by the minute The question is why it is not a lot worse...our defending has been comical at times and downright amateurish at others. The 2nd goal for Rangers in the CIS semi was appalling. Only Naismith in the box with 3 defenders - result free header. Sounds like more of the same today. Rangers scoring totally unmarked only up to 10 yards from goal. Do these guys not train together Hope we can keep it to less than 6.....at this rate doubtful.
-
Agree - but missing Jennings against United is a big problem. That said had we drawn St Mirren/ICT/St J at home we would have made a balls up. At least there will be less expectation from the media and fans.
-
Actually not as bad as I expected. I would exepct it to be picked as a TV game. All i ask is it not to be on a Sunday. That may depend on where Dundee are playing that weekend.
-
When will we ever get a home draw FFS I would like to see the stats of the last 10 years - home v away ties. Not the best, but being away kind of lifts the pressure of us.
-
Jennings is a v good midfielder, but he picks up soooo many yellow cards. I know it is what maked him good, but I wish he could screw the nut. Missing him in the 1/4rs could come back to haunt us.
-
It is probably fate that we will get the Dons, as I do exepct them to take care of Dunfermline - mores the pity........
-
I think it is safe to discuss opponents for next round. Would want to avoid Gers/Celtic, DDee Utd and possibly ICT + Aberdeen (away anyway) Home draw v Brechin, St Mirren, ICT or anyone bar DDEE Utd + Old firm. Would even take Dunfermline home or away That would round off the weekend.

Come on ye Spurs - eh GazzyB
