A tad unfair. 13 of their players who were fielded yesterday played in their Euro ties. Not quite reserves. Even if they weren't at full strength, were we? By my count we had 7 players, who might reasonably be expected to feature, out injured. The selections were what they were. Derek McInnes could reasonably say that his team was beaten by a half strength Motherwell team.

Not quite. A previous manager of his said that he "can play" as a number 10, which isn't quite the same thing. That suggests that its a secondary role. From the little I've seen of him, he's not especially creative, although he's an attacking player.

Pretty much agree with that. Killie fielding a B team or not we were one or two players short ourselves. Lyons should have seen a straight red but the feeling around us was that as Findlay had been asked to leave the field, the ref didn't want to red card a 2nd Killie player. It looked a stick on red card all day. O'hara should have been booked for time wasting. I don't get why referees allow this kind of thing to rumble on unpunished. Overall, the ref was conned far too easily. I didn't really get why McInnes ordered his charges to time waste at all. You'd have thought they'd want to avoid a punishing additional 30 minutes at all costs given their important visit to Scandinavia on Thursday. Killie fans deserve a lot of credit for staying to the bitter end. However, both teams contrived, in different ways, to make it a nail biting and exciting last 15 minutes. I did have some sympathy for their catcalls and booing about our time wasting late on, but it was limited, given their side taking it to theatrical and protracted levels earlier in the proceedings. Sauce for the goose and all that. I've just watched Moses' finish. A lovely cross well finished it has to be said.

We're though, deservedly, and thats what matters. A very defensive cautious set up to begin and long high balls to the isolated Robinson was never going to work against a huge industrial scale defence. Over the piece we created quite a lot of chances but were toothless in the box. I was disappointed with Killie as they were cynical and overly robust. Masters of timewasting and conning a naive ref. They have only themselves to blame for going down to 10 men and truth be told only a weak referee saved them from going down to 9 men. The second half changes really paid dividends and Tony Watt added some much needed guile and hold up play to our game. However, young Manwanhise really stole the show and looked very promising. It was disappointing though to watch us sit back and defend against a fired up 10 men with nothing to lose. A few needless slack passes at the back had us biting our nails. A curious officiating anomaly at the end of 90 minutes. Vassell, who seemd to be made of glass, went down injured and whilst he was receiving treatment, the 4th official signalled 6 additional minutes. Play resumed 2 minutes later, but only 6 minutes additional time were played. Surely he should have waited until Vassell recovered then calculated additional time? As for our line up, the defence was pretty solid and the Ox was sound apart from flapping at one cross. Midfield again struggled and the balance was all wrong. Young Wilson didn't play badly but seemed like a fish out of water. Miller was the best of the bunch but again took a kicking, from less gifted opponents. Up front, you had to feel sorry for Robinson stuck out on his own feeding off random high balls against agricultural opponents. Bottom line though is that we progress and are at least £40K better off.

Yes, it wasn't bad and we partook of a few beers. An extra table or two wouldn't have gone amiss though.

Just be warned folks. What goes in must come out. If you overindulge of the porter you might miss a goal during the game.

I don't think Wells is quite ready yet. Maybe a loan spell or a few minutes as a regular sub?

Watt can play as a number 10 behind the main striker too. He can hold the ball up and bring others into play.

I believe that group stages don't count, so he's eligible to play.

The sound was poor on my PC but a bit better, although not great, on my phone. I did misss a fair bit because of that.

You think we'll get that far? You'd hope that Killie's fixture schedule will benefit us but who knows. As things stand we'll do well to take it to penalties. Midifled and attack are decimated with injuries and look completely toothless and lightweight. Defensive midfield looks lightweight and they and the defence look disorganised. Still we look to have a decent keeper now. We can but hope.

I've just watched the highlights, if you could call them that. We exhibited the same old problems of a deep lying disorganised midfield and defence and a toothless engine room. I ln those circumstances, any lone striker is going to struggle badly. I have to say though that Sevco's first goal looks offside. Their second, whilst a well taken goal was the result of defensive disorganisation. Cerny had all the time and room to pick his spot. Fixture fulfilled tick Thrashing avoided tick Red cards avoided tick One potentially serious injury though.

Yes it was a bad tackle and perhaps White was lucky to escape with a yellow card. Other than that County kicked Miller off the park. We remarked at full time that our physio would have to work overtime.

Aye, and hand dryers and soap dispensers in the toilets that actually work would help too.

We have indeed Allan. Looking quite far ahead into October, its hard to see where our next point is coming from. Normally winnable games are going to be very tough indeed given our injury list. A winless run could extend for a month oir two and put SK under pressure. That said, new players like Ap Stam and Kofi Balmer might come good and we might sign a couple of midfield players on 6 month loans. That could change everything.

If Shane Blaney is thought to be out for 4-6 weeks then with our luck, that probably means 8-10 weeks.

I agree that Blaney is more consistent than Lamie and Mugabi, but I'd put his level at about 5 or 6 /10. On the basis of the games that I've seen this season, he put in poor performances against Montrose, Partick and Ross County. Although I've seen little of Balmer, I'd say that Blaney is the weakest of our central defenders. Its debatable, in my book, if he's good enough even for back up at this level. No doubt an honest pro though and he's probably doing his best.

I'm not surprised. Blaney was the victim of a shocking challenge by Jordan White and Miller was targeted for special treatment and should have been taken off earlier for his own safety. Callachan?
