  1. Yes it would but don't forget bonuses for things like appearances, goals scored, shut outs, and points earned.
  2. Agreed Weeyin. Every year we read rumours in the media and tales ( no doubt released by agents) our club treating out of contract players shabbily and not not talking to them or of making derisory/insulting offers to them. Cue some fans turning on the club. In reality though details of negotiations are rarely if ever released. We're better to wait until deals are signed or players move to other clubs before drawing conclusions.
  3. They have to balance financial benefit with community benefit. Thsts a decision for councillors.
  4. I'd like to finish above Dundee and earn the extra cash that 9th place would bring. I note Stuwell's comments about David Ferguson. He is a central defender not a right back but I'm not sure about him. His contract is due up this summer and its interesting if he'll be offered a fresh deal. It would be nice to finish above Dundee so I hope the team hasn't packed its holibags just yet.
  5. I don't like the way we've played ie the long ball but I'd have done the same, as our central midfield has been largely defensive, one paced and not creative. So a creative build up on the ground through the middle was never really an option. The situation was made worse by having to play Cadden in a more defensive role (not sure about the alternative - Ferguson although he was played out of position on Tuesday). The test now, for me, is to see whether Robinson can bring in a creative player over the summer to the central midfield.
  6. According to a report on the BBC website (Daily Record) Lionel Ainsworth is keen to extend his contract with us. Apologies just noticed an article on another thread.
  7. Good to see Jim McMahon celebrate with Stephen Robinson after the final whistle blew on Tuesday night. On an aside I've watched the foul leading up to Ainsworth's goal time and again and to me its clear that Taylor caught Frear with a trailing boot. Intentional or not he did bring him down.
  8. The referee was totally inconsistent last night and handled similar fouls in totally different ways. We were also denied a stonewall penalty in the first half at a corner when a Killie defender placed Moult? in a headlock as the ball was coming over.

    Lasley.

My how the years pass. Is it as long as that Andy?
  10. Only others I can think are youngsters like MacMillan, Watt, Thomas, MacLean & Hastie. Of the above, we may try to move on the likes of Blyth and Clay. Hopefully Moult too will move on for a decent fee although he'll be missed.
  11. Alan Burrows does a great job for the club. He puts in the hours and there's far far more goes on behind closed doors that we, the fans, know or appreciate. Often matters are far more complex than we imagine. So he gets my thanks. As for the groundsman.......what can I say? The pitch has been fantastic all season and looked a dream last night after a long season. Well done to him.

    Lasley.

Absolutely Allan. He's been a great servant and ambassador for the club but his time has come.
  13. A vital win last night which we deserved. The first half was very tense and despite a great start we finished the poorer team. Robinson was right to take off David Ferguson after 30 minutes or so but to be fair he had been hung out to dry. Cadden presumably was meant to be playing in front of him but ended up playing as part of a central midfield 3 and offered him no protection whatsoever. Other than that Cadden played well. Our two wingers changed the game. Frear is looking like a real find and he's taken some punishment in the past two games. We deservedly won the game in a good second half. I thought Lasley and Clay struggled all night and thats why Cadden was drafted into the middle to bail them out. As Melvin said earlier though, no-one can question Keith's commitment. A good crowd last night which backed the team in its hour of need. Great end to a poor season.
  14. Yes, simply no chance that we can take advantage of it for this very reason.
  15. You can appeal yellow cards if they awarded for simulation. In this case, I would say its a forgone conclusion that it'll be overturned if we appeal.
  16. Indeed. At the last NDP encounter Sarris jabbed him in the eye and got off scot free.
  17. The bottom line is what is his scoring record like with both us and Alloa?
  18. Absolutely. This should clearly be a case for the SFA's Compliance Officer to investigate. Sarris clearly fouled MacDonald and then sneakily allowed him to be booked for simulation. However, as the BBC didn't see fit to highlight the incident the Compliance Officer won't be interested. It annoyed me at the time at some of our fans were lambasting MacDonald for diving and one even said that he could have got an honest pro into trouble! Edit: just read Skippy's comments on the BBC website, in which he confirmed he did not dive. Hopefully we will appeal the decision.
  19. I think you're being a bit pessimistic Mitch. I'm not saying it'll be easy but hopefully we'll strengthen the side in the summer. IF Accies stay up, they won't improve much. If they don't, Dundee United will have to strengthen considerably and Falkirk will not spend much on improving their squad. Kilmarnock - about the same level as us potentially. Ross County won't make the top six and Partick will not receive megabucks from their benefactors. Our first job though, and its a very difficult challenge indeed, is to stay up but its not beyond us. We can then rebuild and worry about next term but there's no reason to be unduly fearful.
  20. Pretty much agree with that. However I think Blyth and certainly Clay have signed deals for longer than a year. Of the young lads has Dylan Mackin done enough to earn a longer stay? No doubt Stephen Craigan will have been assessing the younger pads' potential and will be passing his recommendations on to SR.
  21. Of course we all want to win and Accies to lose this week, but I'll take a draw on Tuesday if Accies get beaten - that scenario would be enough to ensure our safety.
  22. Overall we just deserved the 3 points and all important outcome was the win end of. Predictably it wasn't a classic but we did the business. Little point in going on about line up or tactics but I did feel sorry for Cadden as he was frequently left very exposed and on occasion had to cover 2 or even 3 men. The team did show spirit though and our grit won through. Heneghan and McHugh were probably the pick of the bunch. Moult again proved his worth and it was very fitting and pleasing that it resulted from a free kick conceded by Hamilton. You couldn't have written the script much better. I don't understand one or two comments about us being lucky. Griffiths had one good save to make and that resulted indirectly from a wicked deflection. Fortune, in the shape of the refereeing decisions favoured Accies. Devlin was was very fortunate indeed not to pick up an early red card for wiping out Frear who had skinned him. Docherty was also very lucky to escape a red card, indeed any card, for planting his studs straight into Lasley's knee in a horrific tackle. I've watched MacDonald's yellow card several times in highlights and am convinced he didn't dive at all. Sarris, yes him again, clearly sticks out his boot to trip him and his reaction says it all - he buries his hands in his face as he thinks he's about to be carded. The crowd were great, gave the side commendable backing and in the main behaved. Only one incident of folk sitting in the wrong seat near us and they reluctantly moved on when very assertively told to move by the legitimate occupants. A typical derby against a cynical Accies team, with plenty of talking points and we claim the 3 points. I can read the papers this morning (online of course.)
