  1. Good for the club. I hope that we tell him to do one politely and respectfully. Hopefully it'll be a no vote, but the Society Board can engage with him to see if some kind of deal fairer to the club can be thrashed out. Maybe, maybe not. We want to be encouraging outside investors, as long as its on the right terms. He would have to show willingness to compromise though.
  2. I'm fairly relaxed about contrary opinions. On balance, Its probably a good thing. I can't speak for the new Society Board, but suspect they'd agree. I am however bit concerned at how polarised the discussion has been. Its become an echo chamber, especially on P & B, and thats unhealthy. I'm always keen to listen to other's arguments, if they're contrary to mine. Its important to understand why they think as they do and not because they're "morons or idiots". They may have genuine concerns that haven't been addressed or through poor communications. It also helps to flush and tease out weaknesses in our own arguments and plans. It would be soul destroying for the Society Board to achieve a 100% No vote and few comments on its newly launched strategy, those which are received, being "Fine or I agree". It will want to encourage engagement and flush out weaknesses in its strategy and to receive constructive criticism. It will want, too, to understand the concerns of non members in order to encourage them to join. We should be talking to fans, not talking at them. My biggest concern, is dividing and splitting the fans; that would be catastrophically disastrous. We have to keep the debate respectful. Not getting at you by the way Tam.
  3. Some merit in what you say. It was a friendly however, although someone at the club clearly forgot to tell Livingston that. Injuries indoubtedly affected the team selection. I thought Paton played well, up to a point but, through necessity, was played in a role for which he's unsuited. I don't know what kind of midfielder Callachan is but yesterday highlighted that we badly need a substitute for Nicholson should he ever be injured. Disappointing to pick up so many injuries early on. The flip side is that we had to field some youngsters and give them gametime. I didn't think Wells made much of an impact as he was up against far bigger and more experienced / streetwise opponents. The experience will do him good though. I have high hopes for Wilson but he had an ok game yesterday, no better. Didn't do much wrong to be fair but Livingston largely nullified him in an attacking sense after the break. I doubt if we'll see a settled team before the start of September, at the earliest. Bair and perhaps Miller may well move on late in the window. Then we have to source a replacement(s). In any event I doubt if we'll see Bair play much before mid August. Injuries too will delay a settled team until maybe September?
  4. I've not really been following it, but in what way are you concerned?
  5. We've not seen a lot of Moses and Stuparevic to form a final opinion, but I wouldn't see him as being a direct replacement for Bair. We'd probably need to change our system to accommodate him. Nothing wrong in that of course. That argument is based on the significant assumption that we're looking at one additional striker as opposed to two. At this stage, only rumour of course and there may be nothing at all in it.
  6. 6 players currently injured I hear. We seemed quite content just to run the second half down to allow Livi to test out our defence. Or, maybe Livi were just fired up. Who knows?
  7. A good pre season workout against a fired up physical side. Livi had a point to prove and took the game very seriously. A few points to take from today's game. If we're going to play a single striker up front, then we need an out and out replacement for Bair. Neither of the 2 strikers on display today, good though they may turn out to be, seem to have the right qualities for that role. Paton played well and with energy but he's no replacement for Spittal. If Nicholson is injured, as he was today, then what? No creative link between midfield and striker today. Whilst the Livi engine room was fired up our lads were just grateful for the opportunity to get gametime. No problem at all in leaving the ground and car park after full time. Saw a few bandsmen in uniforms but that was it.
  8. Shareholder voting pack just dropped through our letterbox.
  9. I knew we could count on you Phil. Good man.
  10. As a shareholder I've heard nothing.
  11. Thanks for the updates from those who were there tonight.
  12. Anyone attend the drop in event at Fir Park this evening?
  13. Absolutely. However my concern is that although there are many talented and motivated individuals online just now where will they be in 6, 12 or 18 months time when volunteers are needed on matchdays and winter evenings. The Society has always struggled to get volunteers out. I sincerely hope that will change. The Society Board can come up with bright ideas but the membership has to be involved at a bread and butter level to make them work. As a start, I hope there will be a Society presence at the match on Saturday. Strike while the iron is hot and engage with the troops on the ground. That will be a good start to getting folks on board.
  14. It depends on what "people" you mean David. Just to be clear, I don't have X (Twitter), although I'm on Fb. From what I've read on here and on P & B, there's been far more scrutiny of EB's proposal than there has been of the Society's strategy, which was only released to most folk yesterday. Yes, there are a few fans, and they are few in number from what I can see, primarily on Fb, who have pretty much nailed their colours to the mast in support of the Wild Sheep proposal. I would hope Society members will scrutinise the strategy and ask questions and submit comments. The drop in session tonight is a start. I'm pretty sure thats what the Society Board will want. There's nothing more soul destroying than putting a lot of time and effort into something only for some recipients to comment "its fine / its rubbish". It sounds impressive but is not perfect and will be improved by members' scrutiny. To be fair, I haven't seen many detailed criticisms of the strategy so far.
  15. A lot of time and effort has been invested in this strategy, so well done to those behind it. It contains a lot of good ideas and there's plenty for us to digest and mull over. It does sound good, but will it work in practice? Much of its success or otherwise will depend on member input in the form of volunteering and thats where the Society has struggled so far. The Board cannot do everything on its own. How does it enlist the active participation of rank and file members? A few things stood out for me, but they're detailed issues, and they shouldn't detract from the overall quality of the document. I wasn't surprised at just how few members are contributing monthly. This is a legacy issue which arises from the confusion of the past, and one which I've raised before. Contribution levels also need to be more flexible. They should benefit the members, as opposed to making it easier for the Society, and make it easier for them to contribute. This does need to be addressed if financial targets are to be met. Understandably much is made of local connections and thats as it should be as we are a community club. However, some recognition could and should have been included of season ticket holders and members from outwith Lanarkshire, and indeed Scotland. There must be quite a few all told. Please don't forget us. I thought the spatial analysis of where season ticket holders and members live looks very interesting and promising, and if handled correctly, could yield some very valuable information. A final thought on numerous references to Fir Park. I didn't quite know what to make of them. Is the strategy saying we're staying at Fir Park come what may? Is a move away being rejected or is it just loose language? Anyway a good document but its just a start. Stage one is sort out the relationship between the Club (Executive Board) and its owner, the Society Board. A ridiculous polarised situation which mustn't be allowed to continue. Good to see a Society website being resurrected.
  16. I don't know for sure, of course, but if Dundee wanted to rip up his contract then surely they'd have to pay something? Chances are he'd been offered more by Dundee than he has been by Rossco.
  17. Good luck to him. He'll have picked up a pay off from Dundee likelier than not.
  18. I still think, if Bair leaves, we're a tad short up front. Don't know much about Mark Ferrie. He looked like a wee boy lost last season. Maybe he's matured a bit now? Agree about Ewan Wilson - a big season for him.
  19. Thanks to StAndrew for highlighting this, but yes you're right Steelboy. It needs to reach the parts of our support that others are not reaching, through various means. I'm not sure how many on here, for example, listen to the On the Terrace Podcast.
  20. No I wasn't! But I did work beside Alex Stewart's grandson.
  21. For our younger fans, Alex Stewart hit 6 goals in our record 8-1 defeat of Celtic; their heaviest ever loss. And, no, I wasn't there!
  22. Not quite Allan. A credible performance from Moses, but he didn't quite match old Alex's record of 6 goals.
  23. Suspect he'll be rested for League Cup group games, but not sure. Will he play for us again?.
  24. League cup tickets added to physical season ticket cards.
  25. We're still a left back or two and possibly a striker short, depending on Ewan Wilson's status and whether Theo Bair moves on. That said, credit to SK and the recruitment team for doing business early this season.
