  1. 100% agree. For whatever reason the POD Stand issue seems the least contentious and the club is right to come to this imperfect but best fit solution. OF fans in the Cooper and East Stands would cause anger, rsentment and unrest in all 3 home stands. However OF fans in the POD Stand causes little resentment in the East & Cooper Stands. Best solution for the club if not for us POD patrons.
  2. Read on Lobey. In recent years the OF did not get the POD Stand. At least when the OF were given Cooper Stand tickets our fans by and large weren't forced to sit right next to them. As a POD Stand ST holder who will be sitting some 5/6 seats away from our guests tomorrowI I applaud the club in this instance and have to say that its probably in response to our complaints. I know of one or two fellow POD Stand ST holders who asked the club some months ago to put this arrangement in place and I can't blame them. At the last Rangers home game our guests stood for 90 minutes solid meaning we couldn't see the NW corner of the pitch at all. We complained to stewards who asked them to sit down without success. I then contacted the club to complain. The club rang me within a day to explain the situation. It'll come as no surprise to most of you that the Head Steward contacted the Police for advice during the game. They instructed the stewards to take no action for fear of inciting the crowd. There you have it.
  3. Any idea if we've hit the £250k target or not? Maybe an announcement tomorrow?
  4. Thanks to all the guys who helped organise this - not an easy task. As I'm already an individual member and if I'm fortunate enough to win a benefit through Steelmenonline, that already comes with that level of that membership, please put it back into the pot, That way someone who doesn't have an individual membership has a better chance of winning it. No point in being greedy. Probably won't win win one anyway!
  5. Great. I wonder if we'll be able to actually see the game this time.
  6. Yes but theres midfielders and midfielders. Would you play Keith Lasley as a left winger or Steven Lawless as a holding midfielder?
  7. The Supporters' Association will be running buses for those thwarted by lack of public transport.
  8. Ok folks we know that we're in pole position but have slipped a wee bit with a pack of chasing rivals after us. There's a fair number of crunch games approaching and the team needs or support more than ever. We need to turn up in numbers, even at OF games; travel to away venues; and make as much noise and atmosphere as possible. I know others feel the same and have one or two ideas up their sleeves. Your team needs you!
  9. We have not had an out and out right back since Paul Quinn departed.
  10. Would agree with that FC. Tom Hateley isn't a natural defender or wing back and it does show. Even on the overlap he struggles to beat his man. That said he's filled in during a crisis and done a job. Defence wise Steven Saunders does offer more and I'd like to see him reach the first team again before the end of the season. .
  11. Its going to ve very tight going into the split. My guess is: Us 54 pts St Johnstone 53 pts Dundee Utd 50 pts Hearts 46 pts Thereafter the post split fixture list will go a long way to determining the final placings. I'd guess one OF at home and one away. Dundee United at home and either Saints/Hearts at home with the other being away. I'd be looking for Saints away and Hearts and United at home. I'd guess that Hearts will finish 6th with the other 3 places up for grabs.
  12. No need to panic. 3rd place has never been sewn up. Any one of 4 sides could finish in 3rd and it'll be a fantastic end to the season. It won't matter who is suspended next week - the Hibs game is our next real target. I had hoped to pick up a point today but it wasn't to be. I'm writing off next Sunday but its not beyond us to snatch a draw at Easter Road although Hibs will prove formidable opponents.
  13. A hard game to call. Killie are hard to predict. They do have an excellent recent record against us which suggests that if we are really at the top of our game then, with a bit of luck we might just snatch a draw. On their game they are are undoubtedly one of the finest teams in the SPL capable of giving anyone a doing. They've just won the League Cup and might be on a high today backed by 10,000 hyper fans. They'll want to win the game at all costs for Liam Kelly's dad. If things go their way in the next few weeks there's a top 6 slot up for grabs. The flip side is they're very inconsistent (maybe not against us) and are well capable of getting beaten by the bottom club. They've a few key players out injured and suspended in defence and midfield, although replacements might play out of their skins to prove they've been badly treated by Kenny Shiels. They'll be in party mode but the sad death of Liam Kelly's father will have had an effect on the squad. A top 6 slot is now unlikely and what is there left to play for? As Craig Brown proved to us a fortnight ago, bad records don't last forever. Then there is us......
  14. I'd guess that Stevie Hammell is one of them.
  15. Possibly true, but I think many of our fans would be ready and willing to forego EPL games in order to back our chairmen if they stood up to the OF. In such a situation I'd hope we'd boycott pubs & clubs who dared to show Sky games too. From past comments on these Boards, few have any love for Sky and it wouldn't take much for them to cancel subscriptions. Odd KO times have alienated many of us. The first step is for the chairmen to take a rock solid stance and the fans will follow.
  16. Maybe its time for non OF fans to support their Chairmen and threaten to unsubscribe from Sky if the big boys try to ride roughshod over us. Its not only up to club Chairmen - we the fans have a role to play here as well.
  17. Very much so. All three clubs chasing us could potentially pip us for 3rd spot and in United's case they don't seem overly interested - they're more focused on finishing 2nd (we apparently don't come into the equation). We have to go out and keep picking up at least the same amount of points as our rivals do. In the games we play against the 3 clubs we should aim not only to beat them but really rub their noses in it - nothing can be left to chance as goal difference could be vital. If we keep on winning then we can not only celebrate but do so in style. Never mind the Cava - we can buy Champers.
  18. My starting point would be the team that won the league in 1931-32 and then start comparing players from then. Certainly I would expect Hugh Ferguson to be an automatic pick in any Well 11.
  19. A tragic event as others have said but I don't think it warrants an SPL being postponed. Did the question arise in May 1991 before the Cup Final when Mr MacLean Snr passed away? Sadly these things do happen and it will be very hard for Liam Kelly but we all have to deal with things at some point.
  20. According to the SFA website Timothy Clancy and Shaun Hutchinson are both free from suspension next weekend but Keith Lasley has one game to serve. Less well publicised on this board is that Mahamadou Sissoko is suspended for one SPL game. I'd expect that Tim Clancy will be available to play and would hope that Crags and Shaun Hutchinson are fit and available too. If possible I'd go with Clancy & Hutchinson as first picks with Chris Humphrey and Staurt Carswell retaining their places in the midfield.
  21. £250k is only the initial target and most folk seem optimistic it will be reached. Thereafter its a case of gradually building up the membership. Quite a few folk I know probably can't afford to join before the end of March but intends to do so in the next year or so.
  22. I'd go along with that. Both lads did well but our defence will have more testing days. Jon Page is of course the more exeprienced and maybe now has earned himself more game time. Adam Cummins needs to be brought on more carefully with perhaps a sprinkling of appearances from the bench in less critical games. Remember Willie Kinniburgh though? He began really well as a fresh faced youngster in our hour of need but never really progressed. For young lads breaking into the first team there's along way to go. Next week will prove a bigger challenge and we should play more experienced defenders, if we are able to do so.
  23. A very important three points and a lot of credit should go to the youngsters who rose to the challenge today. A makeshift and inexperienced central defence held out comfortably. Steve Hammell scored a cracking 30 yarder although it has to be said the Aberdeen defence invited him him to have a crack and he did just that. We exerted a fair bit of pressure but didn't trouble the Dons keeper as often as we should have. Henrik was causing panic in the red ranks but didn't look fully fit. Thought Chris Humphrey too had had a decent game as did the inspirational Jenno. I thought Ian Brines had a poor game riddled with inconsistencies although he didn't make any major blunders fortunately. Considine can consider himself very fortunate to last the 90 minutes as can McArdle.
  24. Agree FC. We really need to turn out in force today and get behind the team.
  25. I've followed the Well for a year or two Al, and seen a fair few ups and downs and learnt not to take anything for granted. On a few occasions I've seen big prizes snatched away from us incredibly and at the last minute. We tend to do things the "Motherwell" way. At the moment, in mid March, we're well clear of the pack in 3rd spot. Rangers look as though they'll fail the Euro financial test, whatever that might be. So yes, its quite possible that we'll make the Champions League. However there are two main risks. Firstly, we may not finish third - someone may catch us - there's a fair few points still up for grabs and United are going like a runaway tank. Secondly, it has not yet been confirmed by the authorities that Rangers won't be allowed to compete in Europe. If we qualify for the Champions League then I'll celebrate but I think we'd do well to keep a lid on it for the time being.
