  1. Keep our feet on the ground folk. Our first hurdle, and its a huge one, will be to take something from Saturday's game.
  2. I'll see you on Saturday Dee to make a small donation.
  3. I certainly don't wish Fraser Fyvie any harm and I hope he recovers quickly but he does make it hard for opposing fans to like him. In the first half he was screaming in Craig Thomson's face for him to give either Las or Jenno a yellow card after a foul had been awarded. Not nice.
  4. Whoever comes in it won't be Nicky Devlin who is out with a serious long term injury. This is a big game for us with a lot at stake and so I'd still go fror a loan signing if thats possible. A heavy defeat will hurt our confidence and boost our rivals like Dundee United who have convinced themselves they'll catch Rangers. We also have to hope that Steve Hammell and Tom Hately play a lot better. They have to prevent crosses into our box at all costs and close wide players down quicker and more effectively. No silly corners either (ref permitting of course) or free kicks. I don't care how big the Dons strikers are they will not score with their heads if they can't get the ball in the air. If a Dons player player appears 40 metres from our goal I'd like to see a pack of our lads close them down. It'd be great to see Darren Randolph bored out of his skull through inactivity.
  5. I don't know that we can blame them for putting us out both competitions but they certainly had a significant influence on the course of both games. Add to that Henrik's stonewall penalty claim at Tannadice and we have grounds for complaint.
  6. Some merit in that Greg, but if we stick in a raw 18 year old with Jon Page to guide him then I fear a real beating. That wouldn't do anyone's confidence any good except Fallon's and Vernon's and I ain't for helping them. Peter Houston too would be delighted.
  7. A very bad day at the office and all we can say is that the better team...just won. Aberdeen were no great great shakes but on the day they had a better defence than ours. SM chose the wrong team and tactics and the many players had an off day. Jamie Murphy has lost his confidence and hardly beat his man all day. At Least Chris Humphrey brought a bit of spark to the proceedings. Our two full backs had a bad day and our set pieces were abysmal. Against a big side you have to accept that they'll win ball after ball in your box but the key is to prevent unnecessary crosses which our full backs didn't do and you need to get about their feet at Dougie Arnott used to do - knock them off balance, stand on their feet that kind of thing. We also played to Aberdeen's strengths by continually playing the ball in the air. We had guys with pace but didn't use them properly and didn't use the wings. One good thing though is the side has character and even with 10 men gave as good as we got. We had plenty of pressure but largely failed to trouble their keeper. What can I say about the ref - a bad call at the first goal, overly fussy and inconsistent. Onwards and upwards.
  8. I think its time that jamie Murphy was given a rest as he's clearly lost confidence. Chris Humphrey should be a direct replacement. Likewise Stuart Carswell should come in for Keith Lasley. If Stephen Craigan doesn't make it then I'd go for a loan signing. Any other option doesn't bear thinking about.
  9. We have to allow free speech Jay and its important that any observer reading these Boards gets a true picture of our views, if thats possible. We've had plenty of these threads before and always allowed both sides of the argument however "independent" some posters might be. This would set a dangerous precedent. All that said, I agree that if the situation arises we should not simply let Rangers back in the SPL - clubs must use the moment to change rules and regulations on a range of topics including share of TV cash, voting rights and share of home gates. We're asking Club Chairmen to grow a set, rightly. However thats not enough. We, as fans also "have to grow a set" to use the phrase of the moment. Thats more difficult for most of us. It will involve challenging the power of Sky and other TV companies. Make no mistake, they are part and parcel of this issue. They have written clauses into regulations and agreements. They've screwed fans and clubs for years and now we have to fight back to support club chairmen. If they don't alter their agreements and kick off times then we should cancel our subscriptions en masse. If a pub or club dares to show live footie then don't go back to that pub. Folk on here, including myself, moan about the power of Sky and their cronies and about KO times well now we have a chance to stand up to them. If they won't change then we ditch them. No more Barcelona V AC Milan or Arsenal V Man Utd on the box ....big deal. TV is as much as part of this debate as Rangers and its often all too convenient to ignore that. Come what may I'll continue to support MFC.
  10. Did you take out a loan to pay for it with Ticketus?
  11. Great news. Our fans are sometimes criticised but they really seem to be backing the club over this initiative.
  12. A good win yesterday and 3 important points. The crowd was excellent and gave the lads plenty of encouragement. We struggled a bit in the first half but once we scored the first Dunfermline's heads went down and the final result was never in doubt. Maybe our team line up wasn't quite right but SM acknowledged that and changed things at half time. Onwards and upwards.
  13. Local police don't like offensive chanting. If there's one force in Scotland which will crack down hard on it its Fife constabulary. Look at the number of sectarian related arrests at EEP for example.
  14. A warning to all travelling Dossers - the authorities at East End Park are pretty hard on "unacceptable behaviour" in the stands.
  15. Yes a good article. Financially times are hard for clubs but aren't they for all of us? Its reassuring to know that we have some good folk at the helm of the club right now. I hope we're never again dependent on one person. It might be a John Boyle but it could also be a Craig Whyte.
  16. Good news Jim. If anyone doubted the need for this kind of "working float" then we only need to look at the Pars. They seem genuinely surprised at the financial hole that most clubs experience this time of year. We're a step ahead of them
  17. If anyone is going to the open evening at Fir Park next week could they give us an update please?
  18. The Supporters Association is also considering taking out a membership. This will be discussed next month.
  19. Yes, Saturday's game is massive for us. I'd like to think we can take a good support to EEP.
  20. The Board has just over 3,000 members so in theory that should be possible. It would require a contribution of £1.65 from every one of us. Not a lot. However quite a few members have joined in their own right; quite a few won't even be Well fans; there are some who are opposed to the Society; think they give enough already; some who can't be bothered; and yet more who rarely visit the site. Is it possible....yes.
  21. I'm up for it Andy and would put in £25. A very good idea, especially for those who can't afford to take out a membership in their own right.
  22. At the club's AGM on Thursday, it was announced that memberhsip is now over halfway to the target of £250k. More high level memberships are likely to come in. (Source: FPC)
  23. That would be good, as its one of my favourite instruments. It'd bring a bit of a different atmosphere to proceedings. Does anyone have a dulcimer they could bring along?
  24. Overall a thrilling and entertaining game. We deserved the points and Hibs almost got their comeuppance, but not quite. The first half was strewn with errors but I don't blame Tim Clancy for the first goal. He was clearly being fouled when he tried to head the ball. Second half was a different game with some good end to end stuff. Higdon came good with two excellent penalties and a fantastic overhead kick. We were very unlucky to lose the second half goals - our luck must surely turn shortly. By contrast Hibs were fortunate not to pick up two second half red cards. Keith Lasley was badly missed as we allowed Hibs just too much freedom in midfield at times. His tenacity and fight would have help counter Hibs' aggression. Ojamaa frightened the life out of a very poor Hibs rearguard. We won by the Motherwell way and picked up 3 very good points into the bargain. More of the same again please! A decent crowd added to the atmosphere with good support from the young lads in the East Stand. Even heard singing in the POD!
