I would have thought that 1st March was a bit quick for a cut off. Maybe the end of April - that would give fans more time to think things out, recover financially from Christmas and commit themselves. If the 1 March is indeed the cut off then the club needs to mount a full scale recruitment drive this month. Home games would seem a perfect opportunity to collar potential recruits.

Look at the business Falkirk did yesterday. One youngster left for Huddersfield for a "six figure fee" and another went for £300k rising to £700k.

Thats my understanding. I'm 100% certain the Directors made this clear at the launch in the Alona Hotel. I'm sure they said that most clubs, including us, have a lean spell around the turn of the year. There are two ways of plugging that gap 1) sell players during the January window. This isn't the best time to do business as we know to our cost and the club don't like transfers then. 2) use a cash float, which was in the past supplied by John Boyle At the end of the season the cash float is paid back to the benefactor either JB or the society. Thus the cash float shuttles back and forward. Its not to plug a one off financial black hole.

Its a vicious circle isn't it? The whole point of the cash float is to avoid the need to sell players in January at knock down prices. Some fans are saying that they won't join up because the club is selling players cheaply in January. My understanding is that the club requires £250k to make the scheme viable - the equivalent of about 850 fans signing up at £300 a time shot and participants can withdraw any time they wish. .

Some good posts. The timing of the recruitment drive was far from pefect but that was largley outwith the club's control. Money is tight for many and thats a fact. However, like others I don't want to think about the alternative of putting the club up for sale. The club is not in any short term financial pickle but long term the Society will have benefits. I've been able to sign already and would urge others to do the same IF they can afford to. I know quite a few who are saving up to join. However its a personal decision.

Thanks for that. Given Mr Broadfoot's personal comments you have to ask how impartial he is going to be when dealing with our club and fans in an official capacity. Very, very unprofessional and not what you expect of an employee of the SFA. .

Indeed. The fact of the matter is that there are all manner of opinions and views within our support. These Boards are most certainly not representative of the support as a whole but they do give an insight into the thinking of our fans. I've learnt the hard way that I and indeed everyone else cannot assume anything about our support. I happen to think that Stuart McCall is doing a good job, but the fact remains that some supporters are still not convinced and I daresay some still don't think he's doing a good job. However, if folk want to continue debating this issue about the merits or otherwise of SM then so be it. You, and I, might well be right in that it is no longer a burning issue but whether we like it or not there are those who think otherwise.

I'm a great believer in big physical teams Star sail and have been roundly criticised for that on these boards. However, I like my sides to be physically robust and strong and not dirty. Saints crossed the line yesterday. Steven Anderson quite cynically hacked Henrik Ojamaa twice yesterday. The first he was yellow carded the second he slyly committed off the ball. On just too many occasions our opponents led with an elbow or went in high/two footed or followed through. To me thats just plain dirty. That said they are a talented team. Being physical to me is being tall enough to win our fair share of aerial challenges, win 50/50 challenges fairly and not being pushed about.

I don't see any need whatsoever for him to finish the thread. He reflected the thoughts of some fans by asking questions and to a large extent they have been answered. Its a very sorry day when you are not allowed to ask questions on this Board. Some may not like the questions but thats no reason to denigrate them.

Yes, very much so. They spoiled the game with their unpleasant attitude to the game - absolutely no need for it in my book. The Compliance Officer really needs to examine Steven Anderson's off the ball lashing out at Henrik Ojamaa after he'd been yellow carded for doing exactly the same thing on the ball. The way they were taking turns to clatter Ojamaa was reminiscent of the Hearts team under Alex Macdonald. We played well although the defence was too casual at times and their first goal was entirely avoidable. The penalty was very soft indeed and Saints players seemed as surprised as the fans when it was given. Jamie Murphy looked out of his depth in a very hard physical game. On the plus side Randolph, Hutchy and Tim Clancy coped very well against overwhelming physical odds. I thought that Lasley & Jennings did very well against abrasive and combative opponents but for some reason we capitulated in the second half although we held on. Ojamaa was a buzz bomb up front and caused the Saints rearguard headache after headache. What a find he is. We did miss Michael Higdon badly up front - he would have been useful at set pieces and in holding the ball up. Some great goals though and we can't complain. What a winner from Keith and although it took a very slight deflection it was going in anyway in my opinion. A great result in an important game which keeps us in third place. As a Saints fan commented afterwards the really worrying thing for them was that we were not at full strength. Well done to the management and players.

This sorry saga gets worse by the minute. The whole process is flawed in so many ways. It would appear that the media has way too much influence in this process. They are incapable of unbiased objective reporting and therefore little weight should be attached to their opinions. Will the compliance officer take on board complaints from ordinary PAYING fans at games if incidents are not highlighted by the Chic Youngs and Richard Gordons of the world. Incidentally, how are SFL games monitored given their poorer radio and TV coverage? If Darryl Broadfoot did indeed make those comments on Twitter then the SFA should be asked whether he represents their official view. If not he should be disciplined as have employees of other organisations who have made inadvisable comments on Twitter or Facebook. Good on the club for issuing their statement. Let the powers that be know what we think on Saturday!!

My attitude too. Lets use this injustice to fire up both the players and fans. If the fans get fired up this will translate onto the pitch. We'll miss Higgy for his physical presence and don't forget Saints are a big rough, tough side who will try to use their weight advantage. Suspensions will force us to change our style and we'll need to use pace up front. My pairing would be Ojamaa and McHugh/Daley. Jamie Murphy is too lightweight to play through the middle. Play the way Hearts did years ago - fine any player making a pass over head height to the strikers if it doesn't result in a goal.

A terrific performance last night and I would say the best game of the season. All credit to the players. SM & KB also called it right with their substituions. The referee had a night he should want to forget with a string of wrong and inconsistent decisions. Henrik Ojamaa's disallowed goal being a main talking point. Crag's dismissal was justified if only for showing intent. Post match comments suggest he was jabbed in the eye by Barrowman - certainly unlike him to react in such a fashion. The referee certainly galvanised us as others have said and the lads showed great determination and not a little skill. Ojamaa stole the show with his perpetual motion performance and I fear he won't be allowed to do that on Saturday. Good to see Higgy get some credit too from the stands which he acknowledged. A great night and of course important 3 points.

So how exactly does the Compliance Officer go about his job? Does he have subordinates attending every league game in Scotland? Does he conscientiously sit through TV highlights (what if games are not televised in full or not televised at all)? Rather worryingly does he take his cue from media reports?

You're a true gentleman Tweed! For me the penalty was not obvious at the time but the replay is 100% conclusive. Lee Dixon does not stick his leg out until the ball is well past him. It is a deliberate attempt to trip Ojamaa on his way past - no attempt whatsoever to play the ball. He knew full well what he was doing.

If you watch the BBC highlights its not the case that Dixon couldn't move his leg out the way quickly enough he deliberately sticks his leg out as Henrik tries to pass. Talk about digging a hole when you're in deep trouble! Dixon has lost credibility for me now.
