Surely the game must be in some doubt now due to the severe weather conditions forecast issued at 5pm last night for Dundee that weekend? Its not looking good. Sorry to hear that Jon Daly is out long term and yesterday Gary Kenneth was injured and will be out for several weeks.
-
I wouldn't fancy being a policeman called to sort out a "domestic" in that household.
-
A comprehensive assessment Ricky. We mustn't forget too that many of our rivals will have a fixture backlog to address. We've now almost caught up. Playing 3 games in a week will result in tiredness and injuries, as we've found out to our cost.

Not sure about that Tweed. Yes, I don't like overly fussy refs but really think he failed to take firm action. If he had done it might well have opened the game up more. It was outrageous that it took him until the 80th minute to book Skelton who committed at least 8 fouls in the game. Had he fired a warning shot across the player's bows midway through the first 45 with a yellow it might have encouraged a more open game. Ludicrous too that Paixao was not red carded. He made a horrific 2 footed lunge over the ball on Gunning which luckily did not connect and only received a warning. That wasn't sufficient as he then made another bad challenge for which he was booked.

A pretty fair summing up Gaag. Despite Accies being poor playing 11 men behind the ball made it very difficult for us. True we lacked a killer instinct in front of goal. Jeffers really impressed me with his speed of thought and movement off the ball. Looking forward to when he's match fit. Defence were solid with Gunning and Hutchinson outstanding. Randolph had little to do. Agree that Stephen Craigan is now struggling a bit though. Midfield was ok but the shape wasn't quite right and it lacked a bit of inventiveness and pace. I never quite see what others do in Keith Lasley but will defend him today. OK he wasn't great but he wasn't bad either. Wee bit disappointed in Ross Forbes after glowing reports from Pittodrie - he was ok but didn't show the vital creative spark I was hoping for. That said, he's played worse. I thought we'd tire in the second half and so it proved. Accies were a bit over robust and they took heart from an erratic and inconsistent referee who failed to take firm action early on. Three good points ad that'll do me.

Glad to see we've now steadied the ship. Thats now 6 points out of 6 in the last 2 games - a turnaround in our fortunes. Hpefully we'll make progress until the season's end until SM can start reshaping the squad.

Dundee have been doing it for years and very few of our fans ever objected to that. A non issue really. Personally I objected to it at Dens and McDiarmid Park and I agree with you, although I wasn't searched outside the POD today.
-
I'd really like to give Accies a doing today as we owe them one after the earlier home game which they won 1-0. As others have said Accies will try to kill the game with time wasting, conning the ref, winding our players up - in fact every trick on the book. I'd love to win this one 1-0 through a last gasp controversial penalty that never was, just to wind Bouncing Billy up.
-
Jones, Saunders and others may be injured but Stephen Craigan will be available if he's fit. The SFA have confirmed that he's suspended for one game starting on the 26th of February. Lets hope Billy Reid is confused but I suspect he knows a lot more about our likely line up tomorrow than we do.

Lucky you - Radio Scotland's football coverage is the biggest load of bollox.
-
Yes, Ricky it was most definitely offside if not a foul for obstruction. Should have been chalked off. It could have cost us big time.

Great result last night ad I got it 100% wrong. Credit where its due the management and players did the business and it was good to see Fran Jeffers get off the mark - hopefully more to come. I'd like to think to that last night will stop our slide and take some pressure off SM and the players. No sympathy at all for Brown and Knox - they got their just desserts. Pleased for our fans who made the long journey up north on a rotten night. Nick Blackman? Seems to be replicating his latter form with us - disinterest and low work rate. Is he a loss - no? A great way to bounce back after the horrors of last Saturday.
-
I was totally wrong about the outcome of last night's game, and glad I was.

Good post FC. Franny has made a good start. Knowing nothing about English football and caring even less, when he signed I didn't know what to believe. He might do well for us he might not - time will tell. Too many folk prejudged him on the basis of what they had read or viewed on the telly.
-
So, for those of us who do intend to stick with it and continue to attend games, what do you suggest we do? If you don't agree with my post, and you have every right not to, there are only two other options. 1) Continue to do what we are doing, whatever that is or 2) Barrack the team, manager etc. and reduce our expenditure on the club.
-
A shocking result yesterday and many of us have had a right good moan. Fair enough. For those of us who intend to see this lean spell out we should back the team to the hilt in as many ways as we can, by raising the roof or by buying an extra HT draw ticket or whatever. Time for us to live up to our name of supporters.

Yes, there is overreaction on this Board. I've seen worse in my time following the Well and a 6-0 defeat at Ibrox is not the end of the world if viewed in isolation. It happens and we move on. However thats not the point. The point is that its part of a continuing downward trend, which we seem unable to halt. We can't score at the moment, never mind pick up points, and haven't been able to do so for months. We're not playing well. This was Rangers' biggest score of the season. Money is in very short supply at the moment I know, but you can't tell me that teams like ICT, St Johnstone, Hamilton and St Mirren have far larger playing budgets than we do. They haven't been humped 6-0 at Ibrox. I'll never give up on the Well and I'm no quitter, but something is clearly not right off the park and hasn't been right for some time now as a few folk have commented. My single hope now is that we can limp towards the end of the season without being relegated and have a complete overhaul in the summer. Is that a lot to ask for?
-
Yes, but we with the possible exception of Hibs, we have been unable to beat a pile (maybe a bit of an overstatement) of garbage. Not only that we've been unable to score against it. A right doing can go two ways, either the players come out fighting and bounce back or they simply fold and withdraw even further into their shells. The Pittodrie game will be a huge test of both players and management.
-
Yes this tipping point is absolutely critical. The club had better have got it right but it seems they've cut it very fine this time.
-
totally agree. To play 5-3-2 you have to have the right defensive players with confidence they can soak up pressure ad infinitum for 90 minutes plus and have the speed to hit hard to the break. We don't thave either. A tactical mistake today.
-
I've seen worse in my time like losing 8 goals, and I'll no doubt witness worse again. Irrespective of the team line up today we were always going to get beat. On paper the starting line up looked "reasonable" (it could have been worse), but the fitness of some players must have been in doubt. We also have a very thin squad. Add that together and a heavy defeat was always on the cards. However, playing 5-3-2 at Ibrox with the players we have was asking for trouble. Stuart McCall has come in at a very difficult time and was quite frankly, left a mess to clear up. That said he hasn't shown much so far to inspire me. Early days though. The next 2 home games are going to pivotal to the rest of our season. Aberdeen we can write off.
-
Aye but in fairness the media and many Well fans have a lot of sympathy for Saints. Unlike us they've had really bad weather and rotten luck. 5 one off incidents.
-
Good on you Matt. Representation to elected public servants really only works if enough folk do it. If tens or even hundreds of posters hade done the same then you would have seen some action. I politics sadly, might is right. Standing? You have a fair point. Some stewarding is OTT. You either enforce it or you don't. At the recent Killie game, the away support at the south end of the POD Stand stood all game and no-one hassled them. Being selfish, they didn't bother me as they were behind us and didn't obstruct my view.
-
Some good stuff in this post Gaag and in others, however the effect on JD's simply doesn't come into my thinking nor will it come into the thinking of the vast majority of Well fans or the club. Many of the issues raised need to be directed at organisations other than the club. Some posters on here are desperate for a safe standing area - not my cup of tea but fair enough. This is totally outwith the club's control. Some posters feel very strongly about it and I acknowledge that, but I'll warrant no more than say 6 of you have written to your MSPs/MPs about it or gone to their surgeries to vent your feelings. Ticketing and security - genuine issues. How many of you have written to the police and visited the local officer in charge to put across your views. Its a bit like visiting your local Tescos/Morrisons/Asdas/Sainsburys and complaining bitterly about the rate of VAT to the checkout operator. Travel to games? Yes, its absolutely extortionate in my view. How many of you travel on subsidised Association buses? Many good points in this thread that the club could look at but quite a few too, although genuine issues, are attributed wrongly to MFC.

The club is well aware of this threat, I can assure you. It was discussed at the last AGM. Watching football in pubs is a huge threat to our game. Part of a far wider problem of course (pricing etc).
