  1. Thats not how it works I'm afraid. If Cardiff bagged £5m for one of their players they'd be wringing their hands and telling us they were on their uppers/both players came from the SPL/were untried at a decent level/they would help us out by offering £500k for the pair.
  2. Just an assumption on my part, but given the "interest" from various clubs the length and breadth of Britain, I'd say an agent was touting him around.
  3. I don't undertand the confusion about this. I had assumed a month or two ago, from their comments, that the three players in question were all offski ...end of.
  4. Thats a tad harsh. If someone gets mugged twice you don't blame the victim. We don't know all the facts but its premature to jump in and have pop at MFC. That said Wigan are a Premiership side and that gives them certain rights and privileges.
  5. I know it won't affect most folk on here but its a wee bit annoying that Llanelli are charging their own fans £15 but ours £20. Shades of ICT.
  6. Does anyone know the Ticket Office opening hours over the next week or so? Can't find it anywhere. Cheers.
  7. A tad harsh on MFC I'd say. After the debacle of the Nancy allocation many fans would and should have known about this possibility anyway. I'd concentrate my fire on the differential ticket pricing.

    Great site guys. Good luck.
  9. Snap. My reading of it is that we have to turn up in person. For a few of us that means Saturday with no preference despite being season ticket holders. A round trip of 110 miles. Ugh!
  10. Maybe not a lot to go on, but Mio's record along with John Philliben's a few years ago, whilst in temporary control, didn't set the heather alight by any stretch of the imagination.
  11. Some interesting findings Gordon. Quite a few SPL clubs of course don't include any cup games (we get one) and sell "top ups", which are hit or miss.
  12. I note that Raith Rovers have just unveiled their season ticket prices for the coming campaign. £270 for adults and £180 for students. There are other concessions however. By my reckoning thats the same adult price as the East Stand.
  13. Agree that Clarky would be the biggest loss. Jamie Murphy may step up a level next season to cement a regular starting slot and he may not. I would not expect Robert McHugh to make more than the odd appearance. We would be left very short up front. The galling thing is that if Clarky is to move on we'll receive but a modest fee for him. However if he was playing for a club like Crewe or Port Vale he'd automatically be worth twice or three times that.
  14. According to today's online Sun, Lawrie Sanchez has been interviewed for the vacancy. Colin Calderwood has also expressed an interest in the hot seat too apparently.
  15. I agree with a lot that you say Greg but my understanding is that we DON'T have to sell them. However, if we don't then they will leave for nothing in a year's time. Thats bad business. I would expect though that any fees received, however modest, would help with the salary costs. In terms of Setanta, we don't really have much debt but rely overmuch on TV income. We need to boost non TV income in short. Its about getting more businesses involved, increasing attendances (if only modestly) and getting more from existing fans.
  16. Not being interested in International or English football I didn't know very much about the managerial careers of either Gary MacAllister or Steve Staunton. Admittedly both are big names and consequently easy to admire. On close scrutiny however I was a bit shocked. Gary MacAllister has managed 2 clubs Coventry City and Leeds United. His record with both was indifferent and he was sacked from the latter after less than 2 years in charge. Steve Staunton had an indifferent spell as manager of the Irish Republic and was sacked. He has NEVER, not ever, managed a club side. I'm afraid its the old adage if that someone has played at the highest level in England then he must make a great manager. Absolute nonsense. Now it might be that media reports of these two individuals interest in our vacancy is utter tosh but if it isn't neither really inspires me at all.
  17. I agree Milo. I suspect some or all of these lads have a year to go on their contracts and have indicated that A) they won't be extending their deals or B) Are refusing to give an answer. Therefore the club is quite rightly looking to move them on. Just my take on things you understand.
  18. We'll also be saving about £5k a week from our management team's wages. Slightly confused about Paul Quinn - it seems 99% certain that he's off to Hearts, but hold on Cardiff have him....errr no Notts Forest have him - oh I give up.
  19. Thankfully mine arrived today. Are there postal strikes anywhere - like Dundee?
  20. I believe its going to be retained for future use on the pitch.
  21. I've kept out of a lot of the detailed debate Melvin, although it has been fascinating to track. Several reasons for that I guess. Firstly almost all of the names mentioned don't excite me, petrify me or are simply unrealistic (a few other folk have said this to me) and secondly there's a fair chance, like you've said, that the eventual successful candidate will be someone unexpected; a dark horse if you will.
  22. That could well be Gordon Young & John Porteous.
  23. My feelings exactly Dave. Apart from the OF away this was the one game I really wanted to avoid as the opening fixture. Its their Cup Final and a game we'll struggle to take anything from.
  24. Yes, it is - totally irrelevant. Whilst on that subject I think its very unlikely that Alan Shearer will get the managers job either.
  25. Agree in theory but what if the player downright refuses to extend his contract or simply won't give an answer? Simo anyone?
