I don't quite get all the opinions on Callum Slattery. I do get though that he's underperforming and his form fluctuates. Of late, he's been unimpressive after a good start to the current capaign. What I don't get is these accustions of falling over (folk really mean diving) very easily. He's a physical player and takes more than his fair share of punishment. Thats not to say though that he's never "fallen over". To take one example, in the St H Johnstone game about a month ago, he clashed with Daniel Phillips I think (?), with the latter craftily hacking him in the back of the ankle. He fell down, not surprisingly, but one or two around me accused him of deceit and diving. He "wins" (an expression I hate) a lot of fouls simply because he does get fouled a lot. I get though that he's not in the John O'Hare category.

I don't know about that but he's partial to a spot of gardening especially weeding.

Theres a bit of sense in most of your posts MJC, much more than many give you credit for, but you're wide of the mark with this statememt. Our club is not in financial trouble (the annual accounts tell us that) and we're not basket cases like the 2 Dundee clubs. We have cash in the bank with some back up available, if and when needed, through the Society. Irrespective of what we think of the video, this campaign is to raise fresh funds to help us compete with the likes of Killie, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren, which we're currently struggling to do. We're in no danger of going into administration any time soon.

Admin, please delete - duplicate post.

I suspect they want to offload him (or he wants to move on) for reasons other than wages. We couldn't afford his current wages before and we can't afford them now.
-
I'm not overly bothered providing we get the necessary signings who are oven ready by the end of the month.

Some rumours at last. Who knows, not me, there may be an atom of truth in them. Penney would a strange one. He didn't like being at Motherwell (maybe just working under SH). He started well but his form fell off a cliff and with the best will in the world he couldn't defend. From what I can gather he's hardly played since leaving us. He'd be an odd signing.

Arran Bone has joined Gala Fairydean Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

Maybe He'll follow in Reece McAlear's footsteps?

I hope you're right; you are probably right. I don't like the video but then again I know nothing about advertising. This type of approach may be the in thing in advertising for all I know. However, I hope after months of planning, work and maybe investment, that there's a lot more to this initiative than that. I believe it was created by a leading advertising agency. I hope they know what they're doing.

Love it or loathe it, it is going viral.

Maybe Beyonce Knowles, the most important and powerful woman on the planet, will sit up and take notice.
-
Not my cup of tea admittedly, but there are quite a few fans who like it.
-
You mean we won't all hate it?
-
Yes. However this may just be paper talk or his agent trying to stir up an auction. If it is genuine, then yes, he's a better target man than Obika. However, as things stand, we have greater needs elsewhere to strengthen. If Obika is shipped out then maybe.

Not a dig at you GBoS but what do you mean by a "smaller club"? I often see us referred to as being one, but am curious as to which ones we are being compared to. I'd say in a Scottish context we are in the largest 20/25%. If in a British context then yes, we are but so are the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee United. In a European context yes, we most certainly are.

😂 I don't do political posts.......strictly non political observation. The Gruesome Twosome have built their power on the basis of sectarianism and that won't change anytime soon unfortunately.

Agreed Allan. In all honesty though we can't expect the Scottish Government/Parliament to tell others to clean up their act when they won't clean up their own act.
-
A real shame. He was very highly rated a year or two back but suffered a bad injury. I believe Liverpool were looking at him. Presumably, his loan with Annan didn't work out.
-
Yes. No point in signing someone just to add numbers. However our central defence, McGinn excepted, haven't been great this season and have cost us a fair few goals. I'd look for an upgrade.
-
I'd ideally like one or two more than those you list......if we have the financial means. A LWB and maybe a central defender too. Hopefully the foward would be a wide forward/winger. As I say, it's a wish list and maybe pie in the sky. We are very thin on the ground though. SK mentioned bringing in a couple over and above anyone leaving and 3 have so far.
-
A good bit of business for us. I don't know if Wilkinson upset SK with his recent comments or whether he wasn't the kind of player we thought he was. Maybe a bit of both. A half decent penalty box striker who didn't fit our style. What type of player did we think we were getting? A bit more cash for this month's war chest.

I'm not overly bothered about Huddersfield recalling Spencer. The downside is, of course, that we already have a very thin squad, especially at full back. SOD's best days are definitely behind him and I now rate him as back up. I thought Spencer was ok but no more than that. Its shaping up to be a busy January window.

Very true. In fairness we were down to the bare bones but I think that we could have tailored the system better to suit the players we had available. Overall a good point, which I would have taken before kick off, but disappointing to lose a late goal. We have a very suspect defence as we saw once again today. As Spiderpig wrote recently, it doesn't help though when the midfield is incapable of competing and protecting it. On the plus side, we are scoring with Bair coming on to a game. He's proving me wrong.

I'm not Callum Slattery's biggest fan. He's talented but his form has tailed off. But, I thinks it's unfair to judge him too harshly when he's being played out of position.
