  1. Curtis Main, strength, ability and heart. No failures today but Main was a stand out for me.
  2. Could have been one of a few, Carson, Dunne, Aldred, Tait and Main all deserve mention, but Allan Campbell was outstanding today.
  3. Now, now, now, sarcasm doesn't become you.
  4. I don't really care now about what was or wasn't a foul / goal, I just love beating Hearts. (Get it right up ye Levein) As to the Game, I thought Carson, Tait, Dunne, McHugh, Campbell and Main were outstanding, Kipre, penalty excepted, was decent as was Cadden, Tanner tried hard but made a couple of bad decisions on the break, Aldred possibly looked too "up for it" and made a few hurried clearances when a cooler head would have helped us keep possession and take the sting out of Hearts when they were on top and Ciftci was dissappointing. Bowman and Frear contributed in a positive sense and Rose wasn't on long enough for me to form an opinion. Special mention to the referees, I don't know which one was worse, Dallas or Naismith.
  5. I went with McHugh in the end, not just for his goal, his protection of the defence at times was outstanding, Carson, Campbell, Tait and Main were all worthy of consideration.
  6. You could be right, as I alluded to, my memory is pretty poor and it was 40+ years ago. My dad was from Leslie near Kirkaldy and we headed up to my Gran's every second or third weekend so my brother and I persuaded him to drop us in Cowdenbeath on route, then to come back for us at five o'clock, aged 12 and 15 an away game (unsupervised) was a big occasion so it sticks in the memory a bit more than a typical Saturday at F. P.
  7. My memory is we won two nil and it absolutely hosed down for ninety minutes, my memory is notoriously (t)rusty though. Oh, and as Weeyin says, Marinello was a fantastic player and is right up there in my list of all time 'Well favourites.
  8. That worked well for Raith Rovers
  9. For what it is worth, I fully agree that Katie's comment was a dig, it was an opinion regarding the mentality of some of the posters on here and it is an opinion which I wholeheartedly agree with. Clackscat has already, much more eloquently than I would have, made that argument, however, I will add that, regardless of the attendance, a lot of posters, myself included, tend to avoid the forums in the immediate aftermath of a defeat due to the incessant negativity of some of the members of this forum, which would balance out the spectator to post ratio, at least to some extent. If we use me as a case study (totally pointless, I know, but I'm going to do it anyway), after the Killie game, which I attended, I posted once in the match thread, after the Dundee game , which I did not attend, I have now posted three times. Lies, damn lies and statistics. PS, sorry if I've upset you. PPS I was going to point out that Katie is female (the clue was in the name) but I see she has already done that
  10. After last week's game against Kilmarnock there were 207 replies by midnight on the Sunday (we lost 1-0). So far today, admittedly with 2 and a half hours still to go till midnight, there have been 75 replies to yesterday's game (we won 1-0). But carry on telling yourself, and others, that that is the reason, if you really think it.
  11. Three wins this season at Dens, does that mean we get to keep them?
  12. There is a case to be made for a back four tomorrow, and if that was the case we wouldn't want to lose the fifth player in midfield which would mean one up front, almost certainly Main. That would give a line up along the lines of. Carson Tait Aldred Dunne Hendrie Cadden Campbell McHugh Rose Frear/Tanner Main Not the most exciting line up, but it would possibly smother Kilmarnock for seventy minutes and then we can see what happens (copyright S Robinson's playbook)
  13. Really tough choice today, I could probably make a case for about 9 out the 11 starters and if there had been an "entire team" option I would probably have taken that. In the end I went with Rose.
  14. All in all that was a very satisfying evening, the second half performance was as good as we have seen since the cup final and, I seem to be in the minority here, but I didn't think that the first half performance was as bad as some are suggesting. Kipre, Aldred, Dunne, Campbell, Tait, McHugh, Rose and Main all performed well, Carson did what he had to do, which wasn't a huge amount, Cadden was looking more like his usual self in that he was taking on and beating his man, though his final ball is still a bit suspect. The only guy who was off his game was Ciftci who looked like he was getting frustrated because nothing was coming off. One thing I'll never understand though, how the hell did Murray Davidson make it to half time without getting booked?
  15. It has to be Campbell, but we also had great performances from the back three, Tait, McHugh, Rose and Main.
  16. Possibly the same game as the referee. he didn't have much of a clue about football either.
  17. That was my impression too, and that just reinforced what I thought when I watched it from the cooper. That said, having watched the highlights, I suspect that Doolan was also offside for their goal in exactly the same manner.
  18. In order of precedence, in my opinion: 1. Joe Wark. 2. Joe Wark. 3. Joe Wark 4. Joe Wark. Next question please.
  19. Agreed, they were playing for a point from the get go and contributed virtually nothing to the game in an attacking sense and once they had the lead their time wasting was ridiculous. A special mention for the referee, his performance, especially in the second half, was quite unbelievable.
  20. I went for Dunne Kipre was immense but still prone to the odd brain fart, ie the one that let Thistle in to almost nick it in injury time, Dunne was excellent today defensively, it was his determination that led to the equaliser and even found his man with a couple of passes today.
  21. I sit in the Cooper on the P O'D stand side and I didn't bother celebrating as Ciftci looked well offside before heading across the free kick.
  22. Unexpected point in Edinburgh: Check Hearts' clean sheet record ended: Check Craig Levein pissed off: Check Some of the lunatic fringe on here upset 'cos we didn't lose: Check All in all not too bad a day then.
  23. I don't think that's ever happened before.
  24. I agree that we didn't play much (or possibly any) football tonight, the only thing that mattered was to get three points, which we did. Earlier in the season our tactic was to impose ourselves physically on the opposition before trying to outplay them. Tonight, whether because of the conditions or because of the bad run both teams were on, the match was a shitfest, but ultimately, only one thing mattered, three points.
