  1. Not a great performance today, but on balance we probably deserved the points (just). Nick Walsh's guessing game performance combined with Livi's determination to avoid playing football dragged the game down to somewhere about meh! The Livi defender completely obscured my view of the penalty decision but it did seem a bit harsh. Likewise, the two yellow cards probably merited one between them. I think Livi might be a bit peeved to say the least. That said, Livi offered pretty much nothing so stuff them.
  2. I am not trying to claim we were any good last year, but Livingstone, Hibs, Aberdeen, St. Mirren and Ross County (at least two of which have a vastly superior budget to ours) all had an opportunity to overhaul us when we were floundering, yet failed to do so. To extrapolate your argument, they were all just unlucky. The bottom line is that we had more points after 38 games than 7 other teams, and to use an old adage, the league table doesn't lie. You may think we didn't deserve to finish 5th, but if we didn't, then sure as hell the teams below us didn't.
  3. I can't believe you left Wayne Foster and Scott Crabbe off that list....... Although to be fair, you probably just lost track of the number of odious b@stards that played for Hearts then.
  4. That was the one I was thinking of too. Did Jim O'Rourke score four of our goals?
  5. Not to mention that Bobby Graham wasn't good enough for Liverpool, Peter Marinello wasn't good enough for Arsenal and Joe Wark wasn't good enough for Irvine Victoria.
  6. I apologise for my one liner. For what it is worth, I'm an old fart and have been watching the 'Well since 1967. I'm happy to admit to being the definition of a "Happy-clapper" and I start every season hoping to finish 10th or better, and I don't start thinking of anything other than avoiding relegation until (if) we reach 38 pts. Then I start looking up the league. I want to be entertained, and obviously last year wasn't great for that, but I would rather survive the season in the manner we did last year than play expansive football and lose every week. I also like to see our youth given a chance, although I appreciate that the need to survive in the top league sometimes impacts on the manager's ability to introduce younger players into the team. I don't really pay any attention to any team other than us, I don't follow English football, other than to keep half an eye on ex 'Well players for a season or two, EG Allan Campbell. This means I generally don't have much of an opinion on anyone we sign, like McGinn, because I have never bothered paying him any attention. I'll form that opinion once he is wearing C & A and he will get my support, as will all the team. Some posters apparent desire to see us struggle is completely baffling to me. Your last sentence is the most telling, which leads us right back to my original one liner.
  7. Yorkyred, never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.
  8. If we don't win this can we blame the strip?

    Need help

Could be that, I've never claimed to be competent. It solved the problem for me though in terms of logging in.

    Need help

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, wouldn't work from chrome, but would from my phone. Clearing cookies seemed to do the trick. A bugger if you have loads of passwords saved though.
  11. Mickey Weir helping us finish above Hibs I remember the crowd screaming at him to head to the corner to waste time because we knew what was happening in their game and a point was keeping us out of the play off spot.
  12. Yup, and it is only going to get worse with the direct entry to the group stages for one, or both, of the "arse cheeks". It is why I don't bother engaging with the arguments for "Alexander out" or "why can't we put a glove on either of them". It is what it is now and it is probably how it will remain.
  13. And yet my opinion of Robbie Nielson hasn't dropped any......how strange.
  14. I thought it was between Lamie, O'Donnell and Slattery. I resisted the obvious temptation to vote for Lamie because I felt that O'Donnell looked good offensively and defensively for the full 90 (+7) minutes. Honourable mentions to Kelly (again) and Shields.
  15. I'm looking forward to it, it'll be hilarious. What I'm not expecting is (insert name of diddy club here) getting any 50/50 decisions against either arse cheek after a VAR review. Paranoid or realistic, you decide
  16. I don't think they try and predict who will finish where (probably too difficult for their tiny minds), they just assume that the top six will be the same as last year and the team(s) which are promoted will be bottom six.
  17. Just heard that Kirkwood (Kirkie) Lawson has passed away, a favourite of mine back in the day, possibly because of his name as much as anything. RIP.
  18. Let's cut him some slack, there is probably a clause in his contract if St. Minging get relegated, he's probably bricking it.
  19. Actually, I didn't say we were a "football team", I said that, "with the ball, we looked like a football team." I'm actually normally quite optimistic, and always expect a bad run to turn on the next game, but, before yesterday, I was worried that we were in danger of being over hauled by St. Johnstone. Also, given that we should have scored at least two more goals in the second half, and that St. Mirren barely troubled our defence, I hope we continue to "kill" games in that manner.
  20. I thought Mugabi looked terrified of making a tackle, probably due to the decision in the Hibs game. Defensively we were poor today and we could have conceded at least one more due to a general lack of common sense. We should have scored another three or four ourselves though and we actually looked like a football team when we had the ball. I thought we played out the last twenty minutes beautifully, especially as I was expecting Alexander to revert to type and put on extra defenders.
  21. Went for KVV in the end, but there were a few contenders today. Considered, O'Donnell, Cornelius, Slattery and Shields.

    This season?

The problem with the League can be traced back to 1976 in my opinion, and the demise of Scottish football generally. Unfortunately the Genie won't go back in the bottle, and for as long as the TV companies are desperate for four bigot fests a season, this league format is what we are stuck with.
  23. O'Hara for me, it was quite a tough pick this week as the mid-field and front three all impressed at some point. Kelly, Carroll and Ojala were decent too, Bevis and Sol both have had better days.
