  1. I don't think there's anyone here who would disagree with that. There's a video interview with Jeffers up on the Daily Rancid site here.
  2. If we can even sneak a point from this game I'd be happy.
  3. Okay, it's a pissy Wednesday afternoon, so here's something to think about. We'll use the scenario that John Boyle has approached you and asked for your opinion on which aspect of the club you would like to see improved. He's offered a reasonable sum of money for one idea, and asked for your general opinion on another. The money can be used to improve some aspect of the east stand, tend to the catering facilities, open a new club shop in the town centre etc. The idea you have has to be reasonable and realistic. The second part of the question is what would you personally like to see changed at Fir Park? It can be something like the amount of use the club get out of the function facilities, an idea that you would like to see implemented to improve local community relations etc. Thoughts and opinions folks!
  4. This has to be the situation now. He's a 'Well player, so we should give him as much support as possible. There's always a chance that he can completely turn his shit around and get things moving again.
  5. Only on a Motherwell forum could the term "less greetin' faced" be considered a positive!
  6. I hope you're including your own name in that list?
  7. Another question is, which of our defenders is best placed to wind-up that odious twat Diouf?
  8. What are the thoughts on Jeffers starting this game then? Is he anywhere near match fit?
  9. As I've said earlier in the thread, I'm not impressed by the signing at the moment. I really hope he proves me wrong though.
  10. He's being labelled as shite because his record over the past ten years, which spans a good number of clubs tells us that. He's scored 17 goals in ten fucking years! That's a worse record than some defenders! This includes stints at clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Newscastle Jets, which aren't all top tier clubs. He played in the SPL before and didn't get anywhere with Rangers, which is a club that sees it's fair share of goal scoring opportunities. That doesn't give me confidence that he's the man to put them away for a club that is playing its football in the lower end of the table. I meant cheap in relation to what Motherwell pays it's players. You can pretty much bet that he'll be one of, if not the highest paid player at the club until June. Does anyone know who we have coming towards the end of their contracts with the club? We must have a few players that we would like to offer better deals to in order to tie them up for another few years? That money could have been used to do that, and would have even given us a bit left over to bring in someone else from the lower leagues of Scotland that could have come in as a squad player until the end of the season. McCall isn't signing Jeffers so he can warm his arse on the bench ever week, so he'll more than likely be given the kind of opportunity in the first team that Casagolda can only dream of.
  11. After the romance of the Scottish Cup, it's back to league business on Saturday against Rangers. With Aberdeen away to St Johnstone, anything but a St Johnstone win would suit me just fine, as I doubt we'll get anything from Ibrox. If Aberdeen pull off a win here though, then they go into the game with us at Pittodrie looking for a win to jump above us into 8th, which will see us slide into 9th. Does anyone see us taking something from the game at Ibrox? And what do we think the line-up will be? It doesn't look as though Casagolda is going to get the run in the team that he really needs, so the forward line will come down to the Jeffers factor. If he has signed up and is ready to play, who does he replace if he starts? I have a feeling it'll be Murphy that gets dropped, which is a terrible move in my opinion. The young lad is starting to get some games under his belt, and needs time to improve. I'm not a fan of Jeffers signing for the club, and definately don't want to see him replace one of our most promising youngsters. Unless he plays and scores at Ibrox to nick us a point, in which case he'll be a hero and a masterstroke pulled off by McCall
  12. Hopefully our lads are doing us proud, breaking a few mini-h*n skulls before settling down to watch the mighty 'Well tear Stranraer apart. I see that Casagolda has been dropped. That's not a good sign. I felt he could have done with a game such as this to get a goal or two hopefully.
  13. Look mate, I appreciate your optimism, but the guys record speaks for itself. As I said earlier, if it were someone with even a half decent record then I'd be looking on the bright side. But that's not the case. He's not going to come cheap either.
  14. Sorry for being negative, but I'll go with the hard facts & figures rather than a write-up from Wikipedia. As others have mentioned, when he pulls on that Motherwell shirt he'll get my full support, and I really hope he comes in and does a job for us. At the moment though, I'm not impressed.
  15. Let's hope we never see anything like this happening in a Scottish game then. The police are likely to have a fucking fit.
  16. When we sign a player we can only go on his track record and recent performances. The fact that he got sent packing from the Australian league tells me that he's not about to rediscover his form from over ten years ago anytime soon. His record over the past ten years doesn't make for good reading; 2001-2004 Arsenal - 4 goals in 22 games 2003-2004 Everton (loan) - 0 goals in 18 games 2004-2006 Charlton - 3 goals in 20 games 2005 Rangers (loan) - 0 goals in 8 games 2006-2007 Blackburn - 0 goals in 10 games 2007 Ipswich (loan) - 4 goals in 9 games 2007-2010 Sheffield Wed - 5 goals in 54 games 2010-2011 Newcastle Jets - 1 goal in 9 games 150 games for eight clubs, with 17 goals in the space of ten years.

I'd rather we signed Stern John on a short-term deal than Franny Jeffers, that's for sure. At least he's got something of a decent reputation for scoring goals, and it would give him a chance to put himself on the map again for the summer transfer window.
  18. If this weather continues as it is I'll be very surprised if this game goes ahead tomorrow.

Fair point about McHugh, and I've posted my thoughts on Casagolda in the relevant thread. Sorry, but Jeffers doesn't fit the bill as far as I'm concerned. His record since he left Everton ten years ago has been terrible; 2001-2004 Arsenal - 4 goals in 22 games 2003-2004 Everton (loan) - 0 goals in 18 games 2004-2006 Charlton - 3 goals in 20 games 2005 Rangers (loan) - 0 goals in 8 games 2006-2007 Blackburn - 0 goals in 10 games 2007 Ipswich (loan) - 4 goals in 9 games 2007-2010 Sheffield Wed - 5 goals in 54 games 2010-2011 Newcastle Jets - 1 goal in 9 games 150 games, with 17 goals in the space of ten years.

    Ins & Outs

At present we have Sutton, Murphy, Casagolda & McHugh, don't we? If a player of decent quality was available at a decent price & wage bracket, then fine. Jeffers doesn't fit into that mould for me.

    Casagolda

He's featured in a Motherwell shirt a total of nine times, and started only twice. His performances in training won't ever translate into goals in the first team unless he gets a run of games to show what he's worth. Hopefully he'll start against Stranraer on Saturday and manage to push on from there.

    Ins & Outs

Fuck the fox in the box. He's terrible. If he's not good enough to play in the Australian league, then he's not good enough for Motherwell.
