The majority may follow the Old Firm, but I doubt that many of them actually go to the games. I know a good few people who proclaim to be Celtic or Rangers "fans", but who wouldn't hand over £20 to see them, never mind whatever their charging these days.
-
Christ... If those "glory hunters" hadn't forked over their £20 and came to the game i'm fairy sure we'd be reading complaints about no one showing up. The simple fact of the matter is, Scottish football isn't value for money anymore. There are much better things to spend your £20 ticket money on at the weekend, plus you can sit in and watch world class football on Sky. Until this changes and we see reasonable ticket prices for more than the odd game here & there, we'll continue to attract the same core of fans as we always do.

I like the deal that Clyde are doing with their season tickets. Something like that could work for us.
-
Get a grip, eh? No one is "fawning over" him, all were saying is that having the show at Fir Park, and giving the game some publicity and the club a bit of backing is no bad thing.
-
If Reynolds leaves wouldn't our priority be getting in a decent young defender to take his place? Or do we have anyone waiting in the wings of equal quality or the potential to be as good?
-
It depends on how much he's wanting. There may be better players available who would fancy a crack at the Europa League and want the same wages as Gow.
-
Wouldn't that price us out of any possible deal as well?
-
I'd personally take the group stages and the money that brings in exchange for a finish of 8th or 9th. I don't think we will be involved in the relegation dogfight.
-
More realistic question, would you take a bottom six finish in exchange for us qualifying for the Europa League group stage and earning a very significant amount of money?
-
No, but there may be neutral fans who live in the area that may fancy heading along to the game. My point is, having them hosting the show from Fir Park isn't to the detriment of the club at all, is it? If they advertise the game and even one neutral punter is convinced to go along, then it's been beneficial to the club. It's absolutely ridiculous to say that they should be told to take a walk just because their show isn't the most captivating and supposedly "anti Motherwell". I always thought such nonsense was the premise of Celtic fans?
-
Seriously though, do you think that there is actually anyone who is thinking "I was going to go and see Motherwell play this weekend, but I remember that bloke from the Real Radio phone-in was saying negative things about them, so i'll give it a miss"?
-
Erm, none probably?
-
Despite all of that, i'm sticking with my original viewpoint;
-
No, i'm not. I'm asking a legit question.
-
I'm assuming that the businesses involved would be paying the club for the promotion and the custom that such a deal would bring to them then? I mean, the season book offers something at half price, for example. How many fans are going to consider going there because of that deal?
-
Did non-Old Firm fans just stop calling in?
-
Wouldn't the fact that both Rangers & Celtic fans represent something like 80%, if not more, of Scottish football fans kind of explain why it's mostly Old Firm fans who ring the show?
-
This statement strikes me as being rather odd. Why would you want anyone to stay away when they are willing to part with cash to watch Motherwell?
-
If Motherwell were stupid enough to tell Real Radio to piss off (and I doubt they will be) it really would be rather sad. I'm guessing the club will make a little money from it, and it'll probably mean some free advertising for any tickets that remain for the game. Good stuff.

Glad to hear it. A little bit of recognition for what we've managed to accomplish this season in Europe so far.

Now, before going any further i'd like to point out that Clyde charge £10 for adults and £5 for Senior Citizens, Students & Under-16s for every home game. Their average attendance is as follows; 2009-2010: 633 (Division Two) 2008-2009: 1,237 (Division One) 2007-2008: 1,303 (Division One) Right, this season they are offering season tickets for; Adult £99 Concession £49 Under-18 £29 Under-16 £9 2010-11 Season Tickets include the following benefits: •18 fully transferable vouchers that you can use as and when you wish during the Third Division campaign. If you miss a match, bring a friend to another! •Guaranteed purchase of a ticket (if required) for every cup match •Discounted admission to cup matches in exchange for a voucher •£10 discount per person for up to four people on matchday hospitality •Two 10% off vouchers for Club Shop merchandise (one per item) In an exciting new scheme, every season ticket also entitles the holder to a range of discounts and offers at various outlets in Cumbernauld and beyond; Adventure Planet Bombay Dreams Gala Bingo KFC Pro Bowl Subway Broadwood Farm Pizza Hut McDonald's The Smiddy Inn Arnold Clark Stuart Paton Butcher & Dee's Rolls Westerwood Hotel Dovecote Beefeater William Hill The Weavers, Condorrat Access NL Leisure Blockbuster Entertainment This has to be one of the most inovative ideas i've seen from a Scottish club in years. I'm assuming that they can sell the tickets at this price because of the deals they have managed to broker with the local businesses? Surely something like this should be possible for most clubs, including Motherwell? Since implementing this plan at the start of the season;

Here's an idea, just for shits & giggles. Why don't we just accept the fact that he didn't play that well, and neither did the majority of the team, and leave it at that? We are on the brink of making the Europa league stages, which will see us pocket somewhere around 1 million Euros, and the new season has just started. Plus, it's not pissing with rain in Lanarkshire today. Cheer the fuck up and look on the bright side, eh? I'd hate to see what some of you would be like if we were fighting relegation and getting hammered every week.

I thought this thread would be a good attempt at putting the Hibs game (and Mark Reynolds performance) to bed. We come into it three days after our game with Odense, and as much as i'd like to say an away game with Killie will result in three points i'm going to have to play it conservative here and opt for a score draw. They looked not too bad against Rangers at the weekend, even though I only saw the highlights on the BBC site, plus the game on Thursday and the travel will play some part in how we get on at the weekend. I personally wouldn't change the team that played Hibs on Sunday, unless we get an injury in Denmark of course. Thoughts? Team changes etc?
-
I've never understood the logic of creating individual threads to moan about one of your own teams players performances Okay, he wasn't great today. As Pingu said, he put in a decent performance against Aalesund. It's one game into the new season. Chill out.
-
As they realistically should be to be honest. We had a bit of an off-day today, but hopefully we'll bounce back and take something from the game on Thursday. I'm still confident of a top 6 finish this season. One game won't change that.
