  1. As far as the short-term goes, we couldn't really ask for much better.

I see that no one has mentioned a return for Terry Butcher...

I'd certainly entertain the idea of someone like McCall to tide us over until the summer.
  4. There are two types of manager we can go for really; There's the guy who has been around the lower reaches of the Scottish game for a while, such as Ian McCall, who knows the game inside and out, and who will probably display the level of long-term commitment and loyalty that some on here are looking for. Then we have the guy who is a young up and coming gaffer, who comes in with some bright, new ideas, and gives the place a new lease of life, such as Gannon did. The problem with these guys is that they are usually more interested in furthering their career than they are in loyalty to a club.
  5. We are never going to get that from any manager who is good at his job. Motherwell are always going to be a launching pad onto bigger things for any good manager we happen to get.
  6. Well, you've got what you wanted. Now, with no manager in place until after the new year probably, we can look at the likes of Ruddy and Jutkiewicz taking off, with no replacements of a similar standing brought in. Regardless of Gannons intentions to leave Motherwell at some point, we should have been looking to keep things rolling along until the end of the current season at least. This carry-on will do the team no good at all.

I get the feeling that it just might do that. Who can we hope to replace him with, especially with the January window just around the corner? There'll likely be a few players offski next month, and any new manager who comes in won't have time to see who they need to bring in. It should have been left until the end of the season, giving a new coach the entire summer to prepare.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if all the pish with the media and the officials up here is the reason he was looking at other jobs in the first place. The guy is probably thinking that we are running a mickey mouse league here, and he's not far wrong.

Paolo Di Canio is available, isn't he?
  10. Ack fuck, now i'm on the lookout for a new avatar
  11. Until this storm all kicked off the media wouldn't give Gannon or Motherwell the time of day, so i'm not really bothered about him not giving them the time of day. The media are most concerned with the goings-on at Celtic and Rangers, not Motherwell, so i'm happy to continue getting my info direct from the official site.
  12. If the only signing we make this close season is an extension to Ruddy's loan deal i'll be a happy camper.
  13. Aye? I may have to head down and get one quicker then!
  14. Is there a cut-off point for buying one of these tickets?
  15. That's why they call it a labour of love, my good man!
  16. I'm surprised that no one has looked into doing an internet based magazine. That would be pretty decent, and the production costs would be very low indeed.
  17. You don't think there would be more surprise and anger if United finished 7th this season than there would be if we finished 7th?
  18. I don't mean to sound negative, but are we really to be considered as a top six side? I've always looked upon Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen & Dundee United as the clubs who can look upon finishing outside the top six as a failure. Sure, it would be a great achievement to finish up there, but i'm wondering if recent seasons of us punching a bit above our weight has led to some fans thinking that we are bigger & better than we are. Were currently sitting 4 points clear of Aberdeen who are in 6th position, and i'd look on us still sitting in this position come Christmas as a great half-season, especially considering the circumstances we were in at the start of the season just before Gannon came in. As far as i'm concerned, we've hit the jackpot with a crop of promising youngsters and another very good manager, and I don't see any point in speculating about his commitment until he actually says something that leads us to believe he's on his way out. I'm more than happy with how things are going, and i'm looking forward to seeing us challenge for a top 6 spot this season.
  19. I'm definately looking at the half-season ticket deal with the payment deal, and would certainly look at getting a ticket for the entire season if some sort of direct debit was in place instead of a one-off payment. An idea like this is certainly needed if the club are serious about getting more punters through the gates, and they should be applauded if they decide to go through with it.
  20. I don't think he really has any obligation to tell the media anything, especially not the names of players he feels aren't performing. He could very well have said it behind closed doors, which would be more than enough.
  21. It wasn't as if the lad was really to blame. He was marking Lukas, and he managed to get a yard on him, simple as that. Terrible show from the Accies players.
  22. That won't matter, there'll be another job along shortly which we can all link Gannon to.
  23. I'm actually surprised it's taken this long for the inevitable "Gannon's leaving!!" thread to start.
