True. Two of them have either just been brought in or had their loan extended so Baraclough must think at least two of them capable... I notice St Mirren have signed a player on loan from Tottenham. Cue implosion on here...
-
I know I'm repeating myself, but I really can't believe we're signing another centre back. McManus, Ramsden, O'Brien, Laing, Kerr, Reid. All capable of playing there. Baffled...
-
This I agree with. But another centre half?!?!?
-
I don't actually have a problem with the level these two Plymouth players are coming from (Keith Lasley couldn't get a game for Plymouth, Scott McDonald knocked back and released by more clubs than you can list, many others), it's more the fact that it's another centre half...

No more rumours doing the rounds as to who else we are looking to bring in?
-
I meant, as I suspect you know, the young players that are actually our players, not here on loan. If Long (or Laing) does well, will we explore getting them back either on loan or permanently? I'd imagine so. But that's a question for the summer...
-
This. Tie up the young players and rebuild in the summer. The number of players out of contract in the summer gives us the perfect opportunity to do this...
-
Wouldn't be overly concerned with the summer. Let's get to the end of the season, hopefully still in the SPL. Few of our bigger earners are out of contract, opportunity to reshape the squad then. Only thing I'd be focusing on for next season is getting the young players that Baraclough thinks have a future on longer contracts...

As weeyin states, I reckon Twardzik came in as we found form rather than his being the reason behind it. Never been convinced by him. As someone else said, he struck me as an impulse signing. He's available, we know him, let's sign him. Jamie McDonald was available and to me looked a better bet. No one is saying the back four has been blameless. Obviously Baraclough isn't saying that as he's brought in a centre half. But he's the manager, he's looked at our goalkeeping options and even though money is tight, he's chosen to strengthen there. He obviously feels Long will be a significant improvement on Twardzik. At the end of the season, it'll be more clear whether his transfer dealings have worked out or not...

Referring to Ramsden and Sutton as dead wood kind of undermines anything else you say. Scorer of most nearly half of our goals this season and someone in Ramsden who, while not great this season, has been no worse than some other players this season...
-
Says on the club website that he's here to compete with Twardzik, Nielsen and Stewart but have to figure that one of our goalkeepers will be on their way...
-
Good to have the keeper in. He said he's heard good things about the club. Thanks due to Jamie Murphy and Michael Higdon..?
-
I like Erwin a lot and can see his potential but he's not played one full season for us and has scored one goal. I can't see why Brighton would come in just now when he's out of contract in the summer. For the player himself, he needs games. I reckon he'll get them here, irrespective of who we bring in today. If I were the club, I'd be asking him to sign a new contract with the understanding that when a decent offer comes in where he thinks he'll play and develop, we won't stand in his way. Jamie Murphy waited and is playing every week for a bigger club than Brighton...

According to club twitter, working hard on a few things today. Be good to get the goalkeeper confirmed and see who else we can get in. If we bring in two players today and keep a hold of everyone else, we'll have brought in five players and lost one. Should bin any talk of a small squad. Some of the injured players back and we'll have some options...
-
Still pretty young. Been out on loan a couple of times although even then hasn't played a great number of games. Worth a punt til the end of the season? Depending on his wage demands and maybe moving a midfielder on (tricky given they're all injured), we could do worse...
-
Dundee United to replace Armstrong? St Mirren to replace McLean? Certainly are a few places he could end up...
-
Don't see much I can argue with in this post...
-
Pretty sure Wigan were in the EPL when he signed for them so, yes, highly rated at the time. If we're looking for a creative midfielder, he could be an option. Wouldn't need to do it today as he's now a free agent although have to figure other SPL clubs might be interested...
-
Looking for midfield options.. Fraser Fyvie released by Wigan. Maybe end up at St Mirren to replace McLean? Could be good for us... Craig Eastmond. Released by Colchester. Our type of player. According to Wikipedia, can also play right back...
-
Sounds promising. If confirmed, could be a good bit of business...
-
Hopefully not. Selling our main goalscorer to a rival. As much as some don't rate Sutton (and he has his limitations), he scores goals...
-
According to SSN, we're bringing in a keeper from Sheff Utd, George Long. 6ft4 apparently... EDIT Just beaten to it. Wonder if this means Nielsen on his way somewhere...
-
So they'll have money to spend? Have to imagine Teale would have had contingency plans given that there have been bids for McLean before. Be interesting to see how our squads compare after midnight tonight...
-
Indeed. Watching their game on Friday, thought to myself "if only we had a player with that kind of drive". Be interested to see if they replace him and how much they get for him...
-
Honestly, Malky, first half he looked almost Thermeus/Casagolda like in his ineptitude. Looked better at left back but as a winger, he should get fired out of a cannon...
