  1. Cautiously optimistic that we'll be alright next season. On paper, McCall seems to be making a very good fist of this rebuilding lark. Three players with SPL pedigree and two with potential to develop. Two or three more of the right signings and we'll be well equipped for the new season...
  2. Couple of wingers and we'll be sorted...
  3. Wouldn't surprise me. Injury troubles or not, former Scotland captains don't come cheap...
  4. I know this will have been answered earlier in the thread but need an answer at shortish notice, what are the dates for our European games...?
  5. Just been looking at Gunnar Nielsen's stats. He's only played 14 first team games in his career. Anyone concerned about that? Goalkeeper is a pretty specialised position, so the majority of them don't play first team football. Not saying this as a criticism of him. Just strikes me that if you add Nielsen's and Hollis' career appearances together, you don't get as high as 50...
  6. Ramsden is a steady eddie who would be a fine right back defensively. Only concern would be a lack of attacking threat. Could live with that if it means more defensive solidity...
  7. If we bring in 2 forwards, it's only going to stunt the progress of McHugh, Erwin and Moore. For me, priority has to be finding guys to supply the strikers we have...
  8. Would like a keeper if only to keep Hollis on his toes. As it is at the minute, we're a player or two short of a good starting eleven. Maybe only one if we're going 442 but I suspect that McCall would like to go with a similar 4231 shape that he used last season..
  9. I reckon Ramsden is quite happy to play there. McCall seems to prefer him at centre half though. Just need to wait and see if we bring anyone else in. McManus coming in could mean Ramsden playing at right back. Alternatively Cummins might show better than Kerr preseason and McCall will have a decision to make...
  10. Happy enough with that. Think Kerr has potential. Will he be playing week in week out? Now means we have a couple of options for right back, depending on the central defence situation...
  11. I kind of thought that as well. No need for any more press on Sutton, I'd reckon. Given that Leanne Dempster mentioned a few signings over the next few days, it could e Sutton along with a couple of others. Unveiling the other guys gives them an excuse to wheel Sutton out to the media, given I think he only spoke to the official website on Friday.. Hopeful it's more than one new face, can't see the need for a press conference to confirm that Kerr is staying on...
  12. The money he's made in the game, I suspect not...
  13. Sounds like he's open to the idea of coming despite other offers. Unless he's trying to get fit and we're local. Thinking John Kennedy and McGhee...
  14. Funny thing about Kerr. I've read here that Kerr himself thinks he's a centre back, but McCall sees him as a right back. Sound familiar? Saunders Mk II...?
  15. Diggle's last word on Sutton was that was he was a good player but he made his bed at Hearts. Hardly a major criticism...
  16. Did Ramsden not go abroad last year before signing his contract? That worked out.. It's already been said that McCall might be looking at Tony and Terry Rialist. Better to look at them in an intensive training environment. That and the fact that team spirit has been good recently, it won't do any harm to see how potential signings fit in with the group. And with the squad size now, probably a few spare seats on the plane anyway...
  17. I didn't see much of Kerr last season, his few appearances seemed to be away from home. But I do remember one sub appearance from him early in the season at Fir Park when it was commented that he was too good for us to have him long term. Whether that was his true form or the more disappointing performances were more a true reflection, I don't know, but I reckon he's worth a gamble...
  18. Given there was talk of a few new signings over the next few days on Thursday, could be one or two new faces due...
  19. You should have tried travelling to and from Dundee for that game with two Utd fans...
  20. Good signing for them. Part of me thought he might end up at Ibrox...
  21. Slightly older slapper with loose morals.. Given your past track record, not impossible then...
  22. Not impossible that we'll have three of last season's back four still playing for us next season. Keith Lasley is still there. And John Sutton knows what the club is about so there's a degree of continuity there. And most season ticket holders get a season ticket because it's their team and they always do. I know when I went to renew, who was going to be in the team wasn't a factor...
  23. Aye, they wait til after I've renewed my season ticket before a Kris Boyd rumour surfaces. No, thanks. And people said Sutton was slow and immobile.. If we could sell Hutchinson and pick up Wilson for nothing, it'd be an outstanding bit of business but, like others, I can't see it. Having signed three players from other SPL clubs, I figure that the rest of our signings may be at the cheaper end of the market. Can't see McManus coming for the same reason...
  24. Kyle might say he's fit but his recent record with injuries means that I'd have picked Sutton ahead of him. We can't afford guys who might spend half the season injured. But as you say, one target man is quite enough on our budget...
