  1. If we complain about the club letting so many players run down their contracts, then we can't complain if they cash in on a player with a year to go on his deal. Is this not the ideal Motherwell model anyway? Bring in someone for free that no one's heard of. That player plays a part in some success. Sell them on for a fee. Trick is to repeat the trick...
  2. Aye, while Wylde was promising at Ibrox and I reckon he'd be a decent signing, let's not build him up to be something that he's not...
  3. Other thing that may benefit us. Humphrey, like Randolph and others before him, making clear as they leave how they have nothing but good things to say about their time at the club. That added to the fact that they got moves to decent sized clubs following their time here might encourage some young players down South into thinking that Motherwell might not be a bad move for their career in the long term...
  4. I'd argue that centre forwards that are good in the air are more available than wingers with Humphrey's pace. Obviously these strikers may not have the finishing of Higdon but that can be improved by coaching. Can't really coach players to be that much faster...
  5. I think some people are underestimating what a loss he'll be. There's no one else I can think of in the SPL with his pace. Number of times he dragged us up the field simply by someone putting the ball in front of him. Ten seconds later, we'd find ourselves at the edge of the opposition penalty box instead of our own. For me, Randolph and Humphrey are the big losses this summer, no matter who else leaves...
  6. Where has Wylde gone? He'd have been a decent signing...
  7. Last season we played a 4231 anyway. Randolph Hateley Ramsden Hutchinson Hammell Law Lasley Humphrey Ojaama McFadden Higdon Problem right now is that we have the players for the 42 part but noit the 31 Hollis Ramsden Hutchinson Cummins Hammell Lasley Lawson/Carswell _______ ________ _________ _________ Unfortunately the forward/creative players are the tough ones to lay your hands on...
  8. I think the frustrating thing is that McCall suggested that with a couple of weeks of the season to go that he'd had a chat and knew pretty much the situation with each of the out of contract players. It would appear, to me anyway, that some of the players are telling us that they might stay with little intention of doing so. Just not wanting to burn their bridges in case other offers don't pan out.. Of course, I could be totally wrong and we know exactly who's staying and going and we're just going about our business discreetly...
  9. Ah, never had the pleasure of that particular shite show/gag...
  10. If Motherwell bring in another keeper, chances are he'll have been sitting on a bench somewhere or playing in a lower division....
  11. I tend to agree. Aberdeen seem to be following this pattern picking up Flood and apparently looking at Barry Robson. Reminds me of them signing Rae and Hughes and that didn't do much for them...
  12. Indeed it was. David Murphy was Hibs much better left back...
  13. Irony being a half is all he's good for...
  14. Sure we'll see a few names being bandied about on here and on FPC, some exciting and some underwhelming. Just need to wait and see who actually arrives. You try not to prejudge players but there are names that have been touted that I'm less keen on than others...
  15. McCourt and Harkins? Guess we won't be the fittest team in the league next season then...
  16. I suspect it's Lawson they're talking about. Possibly in relation to Ross County. Kind of outlining who Adams needs to replace..
  17. Thing is, in the absence of Wallace and Mulgrew, you could say give a young left back a chance for Scotland but who is there? I couldn't tell you who plays there for the U21s. McHattie at Hearts and Douglas at Utd (now Poznan) are the two names that you could throw in there. But if Scotland want to avoid the loss of confidence a hammering would bring then a steady old head isn't the worst idea in the world...
  18. Aye, because players never say one thing to the press and another in private...
  19. I'm told he has said that he'd "never go back to Motherwell under any circumstances". No idea why but from a good source...
  20. Going back to Dundee Utd on loan as soon as they sell Russell is what I hear. Although Celtic are also keeping an eye on the situation should they get a bid for Hooper...
  21. In what way is he different to Tim Clancy who helped us to third place in terms of his pedigree? By the way, I'm not advocating signing him, just think it's important to remember we've picked up players before that were discarded by other sides in the SPL and we've found that their manager had been hasty...
