  1. According to Soccerbase, 66 starts and 32 goals. Even before you take into account his link up play, he's been frighteningly good for us. Frightening in that he's out of contract in the summer. Aberdeen looking to replace Vernon or Dundee United looking to replace Daly would be my concern...
  2. Particularly in the first half, but generally throughout the game, I actually thought Ramsden was having a better game than Hutchinson. Whenever he's been fit (granted that's not been often enough), he's looked a good steady defender in the Clancy mould. Without the tendency to lose the head...
  3. As an aside, where can you get stuff in Motherwell tartan?
  4. No, I think some are suggesting that Ojamaa could play the Murphy role and McHugh could play centrally..
  5. I think you can write off Doris from that list. Currently on trial at Birmingham..
  6. Look on the bright side. This'll lure MJC out for a tirade...
  7. I reckon we'll see one in but probably a loan signing...
  8. To be fair, I think he meant for Darren O'Dea but for a similar period of time to Beckham or Henry...
  9. I reckon if we offer Saunders a contract then he'll stay. I really rate him so just hope he gets a chance to earn a new contract here...
  10. Not unhappy that we"ve got Kerry til the end of the season. Started well, had a few iffy games but there's definitely something to work with there. Only concern is what it does for Saunders' chances. Hope that he can come back and make an impact as he could be a massive player for us next season with Hutchinson away...
  11. Can't stand the guy. Hope his next shite is an elephant sized hedgehog..
  12. If you look at Porter's injury record prior to joining us and since leaving us, it's difficult to escape the feeling that we had the best of him. Not to say we couldn't again but seems unlikely. But for me it'd be a pointless signing. I remember when we had Porter and Sutton and they never looked like a partnership. Can't see Porter and Higdon being any different. As much as I loved Porter when he was with us, someone like Higginbottom would be a better option. Having said that, I'd be tempted to play Ojaama on the wing and pair McHugh with Higdon and spend any wages freed up on other areas of the team..
  13. Bring on McHugh, the most natural partner for Higdon as a replacement for...Higdon...
  14. See when people on here were predicting us to win 4-1 or win "comfortably", generally that's the time to remove your life savings from the bank and put it all on St Mirren...
  15. Again unsurprised by this. He's a haddie who always seems to cause us problems. Still at least I had money on him for first scorer..
  16. 1-0 Thompson. Not surprised...
  17. Kind of makes sense to me. If we need to balance the books then what's the point in selling the guys whose contracts are almost up? By definition these are the guys whose value is lowest. By selling one player with longer left on his contract, we might make as much as we would selling two players who are out of contract in the summer. We might make as much selling Ojaama as we would selling both Humphrey and Murphy, Just a thought...
  18. I think it's probably the case that away from home, most teams set up primarily to be difficult to beat. And most teams in the SPL don't have someone with enough guile to break down a massed defence. The flipside is that to play counterattacking football doesn't require as much craft...
  19. I think before the game, most people would have pinpointed Griffiths as the one danger...
  20. Carswell not even on the bench. Injured?
  21. I think Billy Davies would have a decent claim to feature on that list. Not saying he'd be in my top three but certainly a good enough record to be discussed...
  22. So generally did well and managed to win some of the big games? Just like McCall then except he had players like Porter, Quinn, McCormack and Clarkson. It fascinates me that McCall gets less credit that McGhee when both finished third in the league. Strikes me that on that basis, McCall will never win some people over. Eighteen months in the job and he'd taken us to a cup final and then a third place finish. You can debate how enjoyable our home games have been to watch but in terms of results, his record compares favourably with most Motherwell managers...
  23. In patches, yes. But if we're seeing McCall berated for his team's performance in "big cup games" then you'd have to look at McGhee's frankly abysmal record with a much better squad. At times McGhee had Lasley, Lappin, Sutton or Murphy to call from the bench. Wagebill and squad then pisses over what we have now..
