Fuck right off! One season wonder who walked away rather than try and build a new team. Mind you, maybe just as well as his first piece of the jigsaw was Michael Fraser...
-
I would suggest that being released by Bradford would suggest that he wouldn't be in a position to demand too high a salary. He's decent to have on the bench. Played a big part in a couple of good away wins last season...
-
Daley and Kerr, I'm guessing are the two you think I've been generous to. I'm taking into account Daley's relatively small wage and Kerr's inexperience...
-
You, sir, are correct in that Hutchinson seems to get off lightly when blame is getting dished out. Given his lack of experience, the stick Cummins has been getting by comparison is nothing short of a disgrace...

McCall's signings so far. Gunning - Short term signing. Did a good enough job that another SPL club came in for him. Jones - Short term signing. Offered an option for the bench for peanuts. Jeffers - Added a touch of class that helped us get to the cup final. Law - A success. Clancy - Again enough of a success that another SPL club came in for him. Higdon - A success. Daley - On peanuts, cover on bench. Has won us some games but never likely to be a regular starter. Hughes - Failure. Ojaama - I'm not a fan but generally most fans think he has something to offer. Ramsden - Jury's out for me. Has looked solid but can he stay fit? Kerr - Not convinced. Obviously replaced Page and looks more comfortable at full back than Page. At centre back, he's struggled. Never had a run of games though. So why are some not convinced that McCall is the man to rebuild? I know this is a rehash of a previous post of mine but MJC seems to rehash his old material...

Not a fan of singling people out, too often at Fir Park over the years there have been fans who have decided whose fault it's going to be when things go wrong even before a ball is kicked. But Frazzle does have a point. Any criticism is generally born of frustration and wanting the team to do well. I won't try and speak for Frazzle but for me, there is nothing more frustrating that someone consistently underperforming over the season but you know he's one of the ñrst names on the team sheet despite two others being able to play in that position...

Like others, I knew the game was up as soon as they scored tonight. Annoying thing is we looked decent in the first half without really stretching them. Over the piece, I thought Humphrey, Carswell and Randolph had good games (obviously, like the full team, they were better in the first than the second). Others just fell slightly short of what was expected of them. For me, the two players who had stickers were Hateley and Ojamma...

On that description, exactly like Hutchinson then? While not as powerful as Hutchinson, he's equally good in the air and with the ball at his feet. Add to that, the fact that he can play two positions (for me, he's the best right back at the club), I'd say he's a player we should be looking to keep. Of course, this is all based on him coming back from injury and recapturing his form...

This. Very seldom recently have we let a young player go and they've gone on to make us regret the decision. I reckon Saunders would...

This rubbish about only signing players from Bradford really needs put to bed. By my calculation, McCall has signed eleven players since becoming manager and only four had played for him before. Steve Jones: Brought in to provide cover short term. Did a job for peanuts. Nicky Law: Generally considered a success. Omar Daley: Again, I suspect not one of our higher earners. Decent cover. Simon Ramsden: When he's played, he's looked solid. Question mark is obviously how rigorously he was tested in pre season given his prior record. For me (and he still may prove me wrong), Ramsden is the only one that looks like a waste of money and that's down to injury. McCall's record with transfers isn't as bad as is made out on here. Higdon, Law, Clancy and Ojaama are all considered successes. Ross, Jones, Gunning and Jeffers all came in and did a job for a short spell. Given in his time here, we've lost Blackman, Sutton, Reynolds, Craigan and Jennings and we're still competing for a top six spot, I'd suggest he's done alright. Stuart McCall rebuilding our side doesn't give me the fear...

The only explanation I could see for releasing Saunders would be a concern over his track record with injuries. Even given that record, with our right back and in all probability our best centre back (in most people's opinion anyway) leaving in the summer, I reckon Saunders would be useful to have around. I don't imagine he'll be looking for a huge wage and if we could keep him fit, he's a lot better than we could afford to bring in. For me, it'd be a poor decision to let him go...

If I'd been told before the game, we'd go to Aberdeen without Randolph or Hutchinson and get a replay then I'd have taken it. Aye, disappointing to concede so late on, but looking at the big picture it's not too bad. Shows we can compete without our two most sellable assets...

I think you've pointed out why it's felt we're having a poor season. Dropped points to St Mirren, Hibs and Dundee at home have coloured people's perceptions of how we're doing. Easy to forget the four away wins, when most fans have only seen us win once...

Our last six games form WLDWDW Crisis? What crisis..?
-
Carswell for Ojaama with 10mins to go..
-
Would have taken a narrow HT lead before the game, so shouldn't complain. Keep hearing we're suited to counterattacking football. Let's prove it..
-
If, after Saturday's performance, you're complaining about Humphrey and not Hateley, then you sir, need spectacles.
-
Problem is that McCall won't put Saunders in. Hateley takes every set piece, McCall clearly sees him as integral to the team. Fact is we have three other players (four if you include Devlin) who can play right back who know that they won't get a game unless Hateley or Lasley is injured. Not the best use of a tight wagebill...

What's the old adage? You're only as good as your last game... I wouldn't suggest punting him but his performances of late have been easily as ropey as those of Fraser Kerr who was sat on the bench yesterday. His crossing is normally one of the strongest parts of his game, even it has been lacking recently. A wee spell on the bench would not be out of the question, in my opinion...

Terrible game but not a terrible performance by most of the team. Thought Hutchinson, Humphrey and Murphy were good. As for Hateley. Oh dear, oh dear...

Number of games doesn't really come into it otherwise Vadocz wouldn't feature either. Like I say, only my own personal favourites. Hutchinson might be a better player than Saunders, as Ross McCormack or Jutkiewicz might be better than Clarkson but I tried to base it simply on players that I had a fondness for. I love the fact that Partridge was a bit of a psychopath (I always think one of your centre backs should be). I love the fact that Humphrey will run all day despite his obvious limits and that's enough to terrify defenders. I can come up with similar reasons for most of my picks. Oh aye, and McGhee wouldn't be manager (friend of mine was going to the Bristol Rovers game today, specifically texted him to tell him to abuse big Shovelface). I'd probably go with Butcher...
-
Tried to do this a few times and found I was putting in favourites rather than best. So sod it, personal favourites are Randolph Quinn Saunders Partridge Hammell Humphrey Lasley Vadocz McFadden Clarkson Sutton Subs: Ruddy Paterson A McCormack Fitzpatrick Porter Coke O'Brien Obviously, some controversial choices but it is only personal favourites not a "Best".. Sutton gets in on merit on the basis of the 6-6 game. As good as Jutkiewicz's goal was, it was Sutton that dragged us back into that game with his attitude. Guys like Saunders, Humphrey and Fitzpatrick are just players that I have a soft spot for although they all have a degree of ability. Fitzpatrick should make everyone's squad on the basis of possibly the most joyous moment of the last twelve years...
-
The Lasley/Pearson debate highlights the problem you always face when making these teams up. You can say it should be down to ability but the heart sometimes rules the head and it tends to end up more of a "favourite" than a "best" XI...
-
At a time when we're cutting the budget, I can't see us replacing Higdon with anyone of similar or better quality. Jutkiewicz was a better allround striker but was never really ours. Porter was someone we could only afford due to Boyle's generosity. McCormack was a different type of player and someone we were lucky to get. Clarkson came from our youth set up, no guarantees anyone else can come from there to fill the gap. And for me, Higdon is better than Sutton. In my opinion, Higdon and Randolph are the only things keeping us from a struggle against relegation...
-
I think some people will only appreciate what Higdon brings to the team next season when we don't have him. Too many seem focussed on what he doesn't do and ignore the good things he does. I wouldn't like to think where we'd be without him this season...
