  1. If the guy has ability, I don't care how tall he is. What I would say is that he is relatively inexperienced. I'm hoping that we are also able to bring in some experience and leadership in some of the business we do this month. I'm aware this is easier said than done but the likes of Tom Aldred was signed in January, there will be players out there available simply because they're surplus to requirements at their club but that could do a job for us...
  2. I don't disagree with the second paragraph here and much of what you said. But changing the manager may make a difference. Alexander came into a Robinson squad that was capitulating and made them hard to beat (yes, and hard to watch). Hammell seems unable to set up a team to be hard to beat. There may be other managers out there who can...
  3. Must confess to doing exactly the same thing. Last night I was googling Cillian Sheridan's age last night when I saw him playing for Dundee. Like you with O'Brien, my first thought was 'how old is he?!?'. Turns out the answer was only 33...
  4. Interesting to read Burrows on twitter saying that they're hopeful of having 'a few' new faces to announce soon. How many is a few? In at least two of them, I'm hoping for leadership qualities as much as ability. Although obviously both would be nice...
  5. Paul Keegan, pizza maestro... What I would say is that since those transfers the gap between the Irish and Scottish leagues has very much narrowed...
  6. Indicative of how bad things are that I looked at that lineup and thought "that's shite" and then looked at the other options and realised there wasn't much else to improve it.. Grim and I expect a heavy defeat, hope I'm wrong obviously...
  7. A few seasons ago, the off field baggage was the only reason that Leigh Griffiths might have ended up at a club like ours. Frankly given his performances at Dundee and Falkirk, they're no longer the main reasons you would be like 'No thanks'... I also see some Well fans on social media suggesting we re-sign Peter Hartley. Assuming those are fans who have forgotten that by the end of his time at Fir Park that his powers were on the wane...?
  8. Therein lies the difference. This season we're relying on other results to keep us in the top 10 not the top 6...
  9. I'm sorry but the coaching staff need looked at as well here. If players are making the same mistakes week in, week out why is the eleven the same every week? Cornelius is there if you think the midfield is the problem. Allows you to move Spittal up top if you think the wingers are an issue... Manager needs to take a long hard look at himself...
  10. I had forgotten Aberdeen bizarrely given how recent it was. Can blame the players, but coaching staff need to take some responsibility as well...
  11. Twice this season we've equalised then switched off and lost games. Nowhere near good enough...
  12. He's signed four players. One crock, one guy with a patchy injury record, one untried youngster and one who looks a good attacking full back (not so much defensively). He gets a free pass from a lot of people, but he has questions to answer...
  13. The manager has to go. Not anywhere near good enough. If the midfield continually gives the ball away and the manager keeps picking the same midfield, that's where the blame has to go. Midfield is one area where there is at least an alternative but he perseveres with Spittal in there when his best games have been further upfield. The manager is getting cut a lot of slack here despite repeating the same mistakes. What's that definition of insanity again? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...
  14. This game will finish 3-0 after a Motherwell red card early in the second half...
  15. I'd go 352 tomorrow with Efford and Van Veen up front but both playing wide looking for space behind the full backs. Give their centre halfs the choice of whether to come out wide leaving gaps for a midfielder to break through or expect their full backs to deal with it. I'd have Goss and Slattery trying to put the ball in behind their full backs all day. Both of them certainly have the passing range to do it...
  16. "To be fair, we all know what Porteous is like.." Does that get me an eight week ban from here?
  17. Apparently Fir Park open 10-12 tomorrow...
  18. Not so sure. If the funeral isn't the day of the match, I reckon it might be on. Given the Royal Family have given the "do as you please except the day of the funeral" instructions and the general reaction that football maybe overreacted, I wouldn't be stunned to see games on next weekend. Given the rugby, cricket and horse racing are continuing. football then looks out of step. Champions League games going ahead in the UK (which they will) will make it look even stranger. .
  19. It's the fact that rugby and cricket are going ahead this weekend and horse racing is resuming on Sunday that galls a bit. I think the football authorities have misjudged the mood more than the other sports...
