I rate Lasley. Don't necessarily overrate him. He is a decent SPL midfielder who has got better with age only because he can read the game a wee bit better now. I know there are those on here who do overrate him, but for me he does a solid job, nothing more, nothing less... EDIT Forgot to add, he doesn't really fit here. There are a large number of the Well support who don't rate him. Yerself, kmcalpin and Neil are three that spring to mind right away...

Ah, I forgot to mention the other category. The 'one of our own' category. Which Jamie Dolan and Dougie Arnott fall squarely into...

The title says 'man love' not 'housewife love'...

Inexplicable man love? Why did I think this was going to be about Keith Lasley? Basically you are talking about cult heroes. Often foreign (easy to remember cos of the name) or hard men (easy to remember cos they boot your hate figures up in the air). On Simo. A better player than Jamie Dolan. By. A. Mile. Should be lauded, if for nothing else, for his part in our 2-0 win at Ibrox when Coyle scored twice. His mission that day was to mark Gazza out of the game. Which he did fantastically...

Aye, Colin Healy came in to Falkirk. And a couple of others if memory serves...

Would have liked another striker in, but when Craig Brown refused to let McHugh go out on loan, that told the story right there. For my money, if we could have got a striker in, letting McHugh go out on loan to a Div 1 team would have been a good idea. Toughen him up a bit, let him get built up physically. I reckon it would help him as I think he's too easily brushed off the ball at the moment. But it would appear not to be. If the right back turns out to fit the bill, it wouldn't be the worst transfer window. Aberdeen have done well, as have Kilmarnock though they're strengthening a very weak team...

That it for today then? Or are you working late, Burrows?

Someone gonnae post details cos the fishall cannae cope with all the traffic obviously...

Can English clubs sell or send out on loan after 5pm? I assumed it was closed for business both in and out after that...? Anyone know for definite...?
-
Again wouldn't surprise me to see it happen but, like you, I would find it absolutely gutting...
-
I'm assuming Spence and McGlinchey will be it then despite the "undisclosed" Paul Slane fee. Anyone heard anything about Michael Fraser being away to Falkirk? Would leave us with only one goalie...
-
"Danny was recommended to us by Glenn Hoddle who's had him at his soccer school in Spain. He is not under contract so there is not an issue with time regarding the window closing." Meaning, we can't get him here on time or we haven't made our minds up about him yet...?

So we inch closer to the deadline and it looks like our transfer window business will be In: McGlinchey Out: McGarry, Slane (totally out of the squad even if he waits til June) If this is the case, we are pretty much where we were. McGlinchey coming in to replace Slane. McGarry wasn't really featuring in the squad. We have extended the loans of Jutkiewicz and Ruddy but it's not exactly adding to the squad. Are we happy with this? For me, we look likely to finish outwith the top six with this squad. The Old Firm, Hibs, Dundee Utd, Hearts and Aberdeen are looking stronger than us. Being honest, I would have been happy with seventh at the start of the season, and nothing has really changed. As an aside, when does the window close. Given that the last day of January is a Sunday, I was wondering if there would be an extension to the Monday afternoon. I know that previously the window had been extended when it had been supposed to close on a public holiday. Wondering purely in terms of whether we might see a late bid for Reynolds or O'Brien or even the Slane deal being pushed through for a fee. And the knock on effect this might have in terms of whether we do have money to spend. I don't foresee anything happening, but my concern would be that we do sell someone too late to use the cash for replacements...

Not holding my breath for too much signing news now as the club stated that they were waiting til they'd arranged transfers before announcing Brown and Knox's situation. Well, it's been announced so I reckon McGlinchey is it for this window folks...
-
Indeed, more often than not tackles like that one result in a yellow card. Only thing I would say is that the Dundee United guy (Swanson) was sent off for something similar at Fir Park. Doesn't make it the right decision all the same. For me, the reaction of the Falkirk players made the referee's mind up for him...

And here was me thinking that we'd decided to follow the example of other clubs like Hibs and play hardball regarding fees for young players with long contracts...

Wouldn't worry too much since if Nash is being let go at the end of the season, that's when Moyes has admitted that he wants to bring in some keeper from Poland... Slovakian dude..

You talking about yerself there, Frazzle? Having never been tempted to go on it (never been that tempted to look at what most footballers say - in most cases their brains are contained in their feet), I can't say I'm crushed that it's now private. Nothing that people posted on here from his site was particularly eye opening...

Heard a rumour today that the stumbling block is Archie Knox. Not that Boyle doesn't rate him, but there a couple of factors that make Boyle want someone else as Brown's number two. The wage that Knox is on for an assistant manager is a bit rich for Boyle's tastes. That and the fact that Boyle would rather have an assistant that Brown can groom to take over in a couple of years time. Like I say, just a rumour. Funny how Brown makes a point of mentioning Knox in every interview though...

I see all the housewives have been on voting already There should be a Coke/Lasley partnership option in this poll, I reckon. Went for Coke, only cos Lasley will win this poll and Coke deserves a bit of recognition as his partner in crime...
-
Lasley and Coke look like a good midfield combination. Taking it in turns to get forward or get wired in. Get Coke signed up now. When in the mood he looks fantastic. And it looks like the management team now have got what it takes to put him back in the mood. And Humphrey will be some player once his decision making improves. And Jamie Murphy was superb when he came on. Didn't allow himself to be intimidated despite the best efforts of the St Mirren defence. Only slight negative from me is that Ross Forbes is looking like a bit of a passenger in the team at the moment...
-
Nein, danke. Non, merci. No, ta. How many ways can I say it...?
-
Replacing Paul Slane one would assume...?

Murphy, I'll agree with you on. The only problem with Murphy is trying to find the right position to play him in. Saunders has started one of two of the games where Brown picked the team and was apparently carrying a knock on Saturday. Forbes also started one of the two games and I suspect the reason he didn't start on Monday was his lack of stamina and it was our second game in three days. The guys who seem to have dropped out are Mouatouakil and Jennings. The first is no loss, and the second never featured heavily under Gannon. Hutchison and Slane are the other two players that you'd hope would play. And both have been injured. I love to see young guys coming through into the first team as much as the next guy, but you do need experience as well. And as most people (not myself) seem to think our experienced players aren't good enough, it might be an idea if Brown signs some experience. But let's wait and see who he does sign/play before criticising him for it. Bottom line for me is that if the young guys are good enough, they'll play. For me, Hutchison is the one to watch. If we can get him fit, he'll be vital to our team and we might not need to worry about Reynolds departure...

While taking on board the rest of your post, this comment interests me as it's what a few people have suggested on this thread. I didn't see much evidence on the park that Gannon had the ability to rise above the crowd. I liked his ideas (liked the early ideal of the 4-2-3-1) but he seemed unable to implement them. Even after removing supposed "bad apples" from the team. It takes time, I know. But we seemed to be going backwards under Gannon following a very promising start...
