  1. Campbell is an excellent player but the last thing they need at the minute...
  2. Seem to remember the rest of the team stepping up when McFadden left first time around. Have to hope that happens again. Although there were a few strong characters in that team...
  3. That'll be us out then given the inability of the rest of our squad to score goals...
  4. Interesting that this has come up now. Would there be an issue of being 'cup tied' if he plays for us against Glentoran? We are playing Celtic on Sunday. There are rumours of a bid coming in for Odsonne Edouard. Have to figure that one of more of these is a factor if Celtic are actively looking to get this done this week...
  5. I seem to remember getting laughed at on here after Scott left for asking where the goals were going to come from. No one seems to have the answer. 2 goals in 5 games is perhaps acceptable if you've played both halves of the Old Firm and Aberdeen. Given the fixtures we had, it's appalling. Have there been points where we've been unlucky? Maybe but even taking into account missed penalties and goals (rightly) chopped off, it's nowhere near good enough...
  6. The talent at our disposal? I've also read the phrase 'the quality in this squad'. I don't see it. Turnbull, Campbell and Carson are quality, Donnelly is decent. Beyond that? Dross. Is there anyone in our squad with a proven track record of scoring goals at this level other than Turnbull? Answer is no ..
  7. Aye, plastic pitch a no-no for me as well but stadium around it is an improvement...
  8. Airdrie possibly? Broomfield was a shitehole...
  9. I would expect our game to be on TV, be it Premier Sports or BT. As of next week, only the Scottish and French leagues will be playing in Western Europe. A big gap in the sports channels schedules. Regards the club stream, pretty sure the club said when advertising season tickets that it would guarantee access to the first European tie. Maybe I'm misremembering that though...
  10. Went for Lamie, more down to the improvement in performance than anything. That and the fact that Martin Boyle against him was probably an area of real concern and he managed him reasonably well...
  11. Tim Robbins was lying, hope is not a good thing...
  12. Tend to agree for the simple reason that as limited as Lamie might be at full back, he is at least left footed. Playing a full back on his weak side will see him cut inside and if we're going to persist with inverted wingers then we're making our attacks narrow enough...
  13. Ok, I'll say it. Bolingoli on loan to solve the left back problem...
  14. A Dundee United without their main striker...
  15. I'm not actually joking. McHugh or Mugabi? In fact, on tonight's performance McHugh or Gallagher? Not saying I think McHugh was fantastic. Or Bowman or Frear. More an indication of how things have gone backwards that they would improve us. Last summer we let Frear go and signed Ilic, Seedorf and Hylton. Improvement..? Was Frear good enough? Possibly not. Was he better than the three wingers we signed? Probably...
  16. Imperfect he may have been but he had a knack of dragging us up the park The combination of big, fast and strong we lack Having said that, he's only one of a host of former players who would walk into this team. I'll get slaughtered for this but Elliot Frear, Ryan Bowman and Carl McHugh (at centre back) would all improve our team...
  17. I don't disagree. I would give him 11 league games. If we're still in the shit state we're in having played every other team once, we have to make a change. I fully expect people to say that's ridiculous. But we have played at least two, possibly three of the teams you'd be looking to take points off. Even if we improve and beat Accies and St Mirren, maybe sneak a draw off either Killie or St Johnstone, do you see us getting points from Hibs, the Old Firm or Aberdeen? That would be 8 points from 11 games. Relegation form .. EDIT And there is no guarantee we will improve enough to take points from Accies or St Mirren. So we might not even have 8 points after 11 games...
  18. We could play name the four? Long, Gallagher, Grimshaw and one other? I thought tonight was more worrying than Saturday against Dundee United and that was poor. At least on Saturday our midfield seemed to control the game for spells. Tonight they were overrun. Guys like Bartley and Pitman dominated. Defence looks dodgy although I'm slightly more willing to cut them some slack given the back four injuries have left us with was probably not one we envisaged using. Given the length of time we are going to be without the injured players, we either need to find a way to make it work or find some alternatives. Up front is where the problems lie. White is not good enough, neither is Long. The fact that we signed Hastie while Livingston signed Forrest looks like a bad move on tonight's evidence. Hylton looks a threat but what good is that when he isn't fit for longer than 30 minutes. Our defence may be imperfect but if you had told me we would concede 1 goal away to Ross County and 1 goal at home to Dundee United, I would hope for a minimum of 2 points out of those games. Unless Lang is some kind of Louis Moult/Pele hybrid, prepare for a relegation battle...
  19. Unsurprisingly same back four and midfield, front three of Seedorf, White and Long. At least it's someone for Long to play off...
  20. Least handsome in a boy band? What's the proper analogy for the weakest guy in a particularly strong team?
  21. I took the approach that the midfield (at least for the first half) was the one area of the team that worked as a unit and seemed to have a bit of balance. So had to be a midfielder. Didn't think Campbell was at his best, toss up between O'Hara and Turnbull. Went for O'Hara, but there wasn't much in it...
