Mfc Podcast ‘Off-Air 3’ – 25 Greatest Mfc Post-War Players

Could you argue that Higdon would get in the 91 team ahead of Ferguson? -
I take your point about the manager already having seen him at close quarters. Argument could be made (and I reckon we won't sign him) that the manager has seen him and maybe thought he could find someone better but having looked around hasn't been able to get anyone. Possible.. Like I said though, one guy on twitter. I'll believe it when I see it confirmed...

This Plummer rumour seems based on one tweet. We do need a centre back and if he has trained with us previously then I suppose we may have made him an offer but there seem to be far more people linking him with Leeds. Doubt we could compete...
-
I think both teams looked poor. Allan flatters to deceive and Deacon looked like an Ainsworth without the end product. Obviously Dundee will absolutely destroy us when we play them because I've said this...

If Scott McDonald likes to moan and complain about team mates that aren't up to his standard, then on the evidence of the Dundee derby, he'll have plenty to moan about. Mind you, Dundee look don't look great either...

My prediction is a difficult away tie. Because it's the Motherwell way of things to be seeded and see a non seeded team get an easier draw. For example, would any of us be stunned to see Hamilton get Ayr Utd at home while we are away to Hibs...? -

Not sure what to make of that lineup. Not sure who would play left midfield or left wing back in that setup. Honestly can't see a shape that makes sense. At a push.. Carson Tait Kipre Dunne Hammell Rose McHugh Bigirmana Cadden Moult Tanner -
Can't honestly say that any of the signings made by the likes of Kilmarnock, Partick Thistle or St Johnstone have made me think "god, I wish we had signed them". Over time, pretty sure that some of them will shine and I'll think they could have done a job for us. But hopefully fans of other clubs will look at Bigirimana, Carson or others and think the same thing...

As opposed to last week when the average age of the starting eleven was under 24? Only area that I'd be keen to see an U20 would be at centre half. Sure McManus needs the game time but if we're actively looking to sell Heneghan and McManus is going to have to be managed carefully fitness wise, it might be an idea to see what the likes of Maguire or Watt can offer in a back three... -

Telling you, Easter Road or Firhill here we come... -
Unlikely if only because if you have two injured strikers, surely the last player you want to buy is one slowly making his way back from injury...
-
Can't see Heneghan, Moult or Cadden extending their deals and I think this forum would spontaneously combust if we offered Hammell or McManus new deals. As others have pointed out, doesn't leave many players other than new signings...
-
Bowman? I would have said Tait but it was a three year deal he signed last summer...

I seem to remember big Higdon and even Chris Porter struggling at the start. I reckon Fisher needs one to go in off his backside and he'll probably find form... -

By that logic, there could be some Premier teams going through in second place so no guarantee of an easier draw. It would be just like us to go through as seeds and end up with a trip to Easter Road or Firhill... -

Looks like another shift for Frear at left wing back. Reckon that's a waste of him as a player. Will be interesting to hear how Bowman and Fisher work together. Doesn't strike me as a natural looking partnership. I suppose it's a game we should win so a chance to try it out. As others have said, plastic pitch possibly explains the absence of Hammell and Moult. Surprised McManus is playing for that reason... -
I suspect that Thomas could have a career similar to that of Lawless and that every so often when the subject of players we've let go who could have done a job comes up, he'll join him in the maybe but not a major mistake category...

People saying we looked fitter than in recent seasons. Got to figure that part of this is down to an average age in the starting eleven yesterday of just under 24. A couple of us mentioned at the game yesterday how young the team was in comparison to previous seasons. Pleasingly only Kipré doesn't have a fair number of games under his belt despite this stat...
