Since when was a relegation battle a free hit?

By my maths, we have a 31 man squad. Remove Oxborough, McGinn, Seddon, Robinson and Callachan. That's down to 26. Tavares and Koutroumbis don't look fit for purpose. Down to 24. Miller and Stamatelopolous out currently, 22. So currently a 22 man squad while relying on Nicholson and Slattery staying fit. So a 20 man squad. We're not quite at 'if you're fit you're getting a game' but we're not a million miles away and that's how standards slip. That's the real cost of so many injured players. Those in the eleven don't have to maintain standards to keep their place in the team...

Aye, but then you end up with the likes of Aaron Chapman...

Doesn't look to be weighed down by the captaincy as some have been. At 33, he was still pushing forward late on...

Ebiye is a strange one. As others point out, his goals to minutes is impressive. And yet there are times he looks like he has never seen a football before. And like it or not (and this is where Stuperavic has fallen foul) Kettlewell likes strikers who press and make life difficult for the opposition. Robinson does that, Ebiye not so much. And, yes, I am aware goals win games and are probably more important than pressing on paper but pressing can stop the opposition getting at you as much and maybe tire out defenders for your late sub to score against. That being said, with the plethora of strikers that we have on the books, you imagine there must be some combination that would work in a 352 with the wing backs supplying them...

Without wishing to be cynical, when you have an inexperienced ref and the opposition manager is an experienced ex Scotland manager often seen in the media, this can happen. It shouldn't but Levein has been getting away with it for years...
