Worth mentioning he's scored a lot more goals than Johnson...

I must confess to being a bit disappointed that when McHugh got injured that McGhee didn't bring Allan Campbell on. Why have him on the bench if you're not going to use him? -

No Moult, no Lasley. Three points away from home in the circumstances is a great result, irrespective of how Kilmarnock have been playing. Good to see Ainsworth back among the goals and the likes of MacLean getting involved with the first team if only for a couple of minutes... -
Is he getting a taxi home..?

Might need to open the east stand for that one...

£7 for a ten minute journey means an hourly rate of £40 an hour so aye probably

Not saying every family does. Just giving a hypothetical example of how these things can get out...

You're playing for Motherwell. Your brother or your sister knows what you earn. They have big mouths and are out with their mates asking all about the fact that a family member is a professional footballer. Their mates also have big mouths. And so it goes. Obviously with a degree of Chinese whispers as the figure gets less accurate the further you get from the player but I wouldn't say that stories never leak out. I know for a fact that they do...

Will We Qualify For The Next Stage Of The League Cup

Probably on the telly, will probably make enough from gate money to pay a midfielder for a year. Obviously, would rather have had Alloa at Fir Park... -
We might spend £50000 on a player but that would be about it and that level of player won't be markedly better than most free agents...

If we lose Johnson for £500k, it would very, very unlikely that we could replace him with a player of a similar quality. Obviously we found Johnson but don't imagine that there are many players of his quality available on our budget. Basically it's Ainsworth, getting lucky with another unknown signing or change the way we set up the team...

For me, if Johnson leaves, a lot of responsibility falls on the shoulders of Lionel Ainsworth. Last season we used a front three of Johnson, Moult and McDonald. If we can't replace Johnson then Ainsworth would be the obvious replacement in a front three. Big concern there would be the loss of Ainsworth as a good option from the bench...

It is sobering when you hear that clubs down south are paying £50 million for players from their own league and clubs in Scotland outwith the Old Firm are offered derisory amounts. Is Gary Hooper worth 20 times what Kane Hemmings is worth..?

See it mentioned on the BBC Gossip column that we're planning to offer Craig Clay a similar deal to Lee Lucas in order to have a look at him in the next couple of games. So that's how we plan to get around McHugh being suspended tonight...

Will We Qualify For The Next Stage Of The League Cup

No seeding at all? Good. Proper cup draw... -
Keith Lasley or Stephen Craigan...

Must confess that team lineup confused me for a second. Was thinking McHugh up front with Moult before I remembered it's a different McHugh we have now... Strange lineup. Playing a guy that's going to need an operation seems unnecessarily risky, especially on an artificial surface. Playing Lasley and McHugh in a game where you would hope we won't need two defensive midfielders. Not the team I'd have selected although I've been proved wrong before...

I would be disappointed but not surprised by this. We do seem to have too many centre halfs but I always felt Laing looked like he could turn into a decent player. I wasn't at East Fife last season when he had a nightmare and then disappeared for months but that seems to have been the game that really pushed him down the pecking order. I have already said on here though that the signing of Heneghan only made sense if we were moving Laing or Kennedy on...

I understand what you're saying, but I'm sure if it was in the paper this morning that we were going to sell Moult to Rangers for a tenner, it would be getting discussed on here. It's not as if we're discussing the fact that some guy in the pub last night said he reckoned McDonald would go back to Australia. The story in the papers may turn out to be nonsense, but people are entitled to any opinion as how it would look IF it came to pass...

If we release a key player from his contract without a fee being involved, it would make the club look bad. If freeing up his wage would allow us to bring a midfielder in, great but then we'd also be looking for another striker as having Moult, Blyth and Mackin would, for me, leave us a bit threadbare and one dimensional up front...

You know, on this particular occasion, he would have something of a point. To not ask for a fee for a player who had just signed a new contract would leave the club open to question if it came to pass...
