Starting to feel like a substantial rebuilding job required this summer if Hammell, Pearson and McDonald go. Irrespective of what you think of their abilities, it's a lot of experience and knowledge of what the club is about to replace. Midfield is becoming a real area of concern...

Pleased we've signed a forward. Heneghan at 6ft4 looks to have the physical attributes we were looking for. Tait looks to have a good number of games under his belt at a similar level to Moult and Johnson so hopefully he can contribute. With apparently more signings to follow, we have to address midfield. Interesting to see if there are other departures. Law and Ainsworth have been touted as possibles, potential bids for Moult or Johnson? Once again, a close season of a fair bit of change potentially...

I'd argue that left back is more of a priority. And given we finished last season with four centre midfielders, two have left and the two that remain have a combined age of 69, that would have been my priority. And I know we may well sign midfielders but another centre back seems a waste of a wage on a tight budget...

Just not that excited about us signing another centre half when we have two we should be developing. Second choice keeper and two players in positions that weren't a priority. Don't ask me to get excited...

One of them will be Dean Brill. Other two likely to be defenders. Underwhelming...

Again, I have to say that I'm surprised that centre backs seem to be our priority. Given the rumours surrounding Ainsworth, the fact that McDonald has still to sign a contract, Hammell hasn't re-signed yet and we have three first team centre backs with two others on the fringes, use of a small budget on defenders seems odd (I say defenders plural given the strong rumours regarding Richard Tait). I know that in forward areas we have Moore, Mackin, Thomas and Ross MacLean and I'm in favour of giving our young players their chance, but we run the risk of having an unbalanced squad...

Maybe felt that they had to announce something sooner rather than later. Interesting that McGhee in his quotes strongly hinting that he will be phasing Lasley out with a strong focus on what Lasley brings off the field. On that basis, would be looking for a minimum of two midfield signings...

Aye, difference being our first competitive game wasn't until the start of August last season. This season, it comes a bit earlier. There is a difference between starting to panic and thinking that the club really need to be getting the finger out...

How many defenders do we need? We already have McManus, Kennedy and Laing and Ferguson has extended his contract. If the budget is tight, seems unlikely we'd be bringing in so many players for the one position. Unless Kennedy or Laing are being moved on...

I tend to agree with your assessment of him but writing was on the wall when McGhee tried Laing there. For me, if we sign Tait, it will mean that Laing will be our backup defender meaning no need to sign another centre back. Assuming that Ferguson and Watt will also be used to fill in when injuries and suspensions dictate we need it...

Under four weeks til our first competitive game, I'd hope that things start moving soon...

The most cretinous post I've read on this forum for some time (and there's some serious competition). The potential sponsors wanted to see the fixture list first?!? Holy fuck..
-
As others have pointed out, unless we go back to playing each other twice or four times a season, there is always going to be room for people to point out perceived injustices. Motherwell, along with other clubs, agreed to this stupid system. So they can stop moaning and just get on with it...

I think the theory is that you have more chance of beating the Old Firm on your own patch. Rightly or wrongly, that's the shit folk are shovelling. Never been so embarrassed by the off field conduct of the club...
-
The fixtures are what they are. The club has embarrassed itself here. They should now shut up and move on with getting players in and strips released, something that would actually make us look like a functioning football club...

Nope. No thanks..

One sub appearance...

If Hall and Robbie Leitch are both moving on and we're getting compensation for both, then hopefully it reduces the need for us to take derisory offers for any of our first team players. As disappointing as it is to lose good young players from our U20 side, if we can bring in transfer revenue without weakening the first team then this can only be a good thing for the club. Whether it aids the likes of Hall and Leitch in their development. That's their concern...
-
I take your point, but do we need another centre half unless we are getting rid of Laing or Kennedy?
-
What's irritating is the fact that while we will get compensation, if he's that promising we could have been looking at a decent fee in a couple of seasons time...

Brighton are a club that had Gordon Greer as their first standby centre back for the playoffs. Not a fantastic centre half. If Hall applies himself, he has all the tools to develop into a better player than Greer...
-
Did we not sign an 18yo left back already this summer? The assumption was that he was for the U20s but given our aim is to have players ready for the first team earlier, could it be that he could be fast tracked into the first team if he looks ready...

Ross MacLean is going to stay apparently...
