  1. Something worth pointing out from time to time. Josh Law is turning into a pretty solid right back. He'll never feature in MOTM polls but puts a shift in every week and seldom lets the side down. Was watching the game tonight thinking "When did Josh Law last have a bad game for Motherwell?". And struggled to find an answer...
  2. Hoping that something can be done to get Grimshaw til the end of the season. Really becoming crucial to the way we play...
  3. Bit disappointed that Kennedy seems to have been discarded totally. He had a couple of dodgy games but on occasions, he looked like a real prospect. Hall is playing well but have to figure there will come a point (injury or suspension) that we're going to need either Laing or Kennedy...
  4. I went for Ben Hall. Couple of crunching tackles and more than a couple of towering headers. You really can't tell by watching him how little first team football he's played...
  5. Not a classic but a good three points, particularly as we didn't play that well. Negatives. Felt the use of Johnson on the right was a bit of a waste of him for much of the game. He looked better there when we went to 433 at the end of the game. Moult clearly played despite having been ill, and it showed. With Fletcher injured, we really don't have anyone other than Moult to lead the line (that McGhee trusts). If Robinson is out of the picture, and Fletcher isn't going to be fit anytime soon, a backup for Moult may be required. Clarkson has shown recently that he can contribute in cameo performances but at his age, he can't do the running that's required of our number nine over a 90 minutes, the way we're set up to play just now. Positives. Everyone on the park made a contribution, no real failures. Defence had a couple of dodgy moments but look like they're starting to settle as a unit. And I don't think many midfields will outdo Pearson, Lasley and Grimshaw for workrate. We are creating chances now as well and we could have scored more tonight. Still three wins on the bounce can only breed confidence. Niggling concern is the fact that McGhee only maybe trusts 12 or 13 of his squad (I remember him making a similar comment last time he was our manager). If someone picks up an injury or suspension, I don't know how we would adjust our style of play...
  6. Looking at the bench, we're light in central midfield cover. Something to be addressed in January...?
  7. Being selfish, working the next two Saturdays so would rather tonight's game goes ahead...
  8. Celtic have a goal chopped off for offside. Sounds like one way traffic...
  9. Given McDonald only lasts an hour, McFadden for the last 30 minutes might be a decent option...
  10. Yes, only one year though as far as I recall...
  11. I think what is meant is that the fans will own the club but will hire/appoint people to make the decisions regarding day to day running of the club. The board of directors may be the Well Society but I'd imagine they would appoint people to run the club...
  12. Great team performance but Louis Moult was head and shoulders above the rest. I reckon it's no coincidence that he's done his coaching badges as he seems very aware of the right positions to take on the field. Add that to a willingness to work his arse off and he has the real makings of a fans favourite...
  13. Workrate, good goals, a win. What's not to like? No real failures today, looked as if we were going to blow it at 2-1 but the players dug in and got over the line. Louis Moult fast becoming a favourite of mine. Works hard, has a good touch, scores goals, a quality signing...
  14. Kennedy looked a bit out of sorts in the last game but a bold decision by McGhee to hand a centre half a debut in a game that most fans consider "must not lose" if not "must win". Bold decisions can go really badly or make a manager look like a genius. Let's hope it's the latter today...
  15. I would kind of hope that with the promise of a couple of home league cup games in July, that any preceding friendlies are behind closed doors...
  16. At least two of those players probably won't be here next season as they're getting frustrated at the lack of opportunities offered to them...
  17. It's not raining in Glasgow just now. I feel as if games get called off a lot more often now than 15-20 years ago despite pitch protection that the clubs have available. Probably were as many games called off back then, just my perception...
  18. Really couldn't ask for a better draw. Although the mantle of overwhelming favourites never sits well with us...
  19. I would add Ross McLean to that list...
  20. Team Ripley Law Kennedy McManus Hammell Johnson Lasley Grimshaw Pearson McDonald Moult Disappointingly, Taylor on the bench ahead of Cadden, Leitch or McLean...
  21. I think Grimshaw has done ok but would like to see Cadden, Leitch or McLean given some game time so if he were to leave, I'd hope that would be the case. Taylor, again, I'd rather give our U20 midfielders a shot so he can go. Ripley, some good games, some bad. Would playing Craig Samson instead noticeably weaken us? Probably not...
  22. Had to laugh when I read him saying the other day that he'd be blooding young players. He may have qualities but bringing through young players isn't one of them. I know of at least one U20 player getting scouted by other clubs at the moment who feels it'd be better for his development to leave at the end of the season...
