  1. The build up to last week’s equaliser was good to look at.
  2. Start with one striker finish with five?
  3. I was considering Paton for Slattery. I though Slattery was off it yesterday, he didn’t even get booked.
  4. Paton is available, does he come back in? Who for? Or do we pack the midfield again and throw the strikers on later?
  5. It was Georgie Gent but Davor ran him close then Bair came on, had two attempts at goal then a perfect cross for the goal. A day for the underdog.
  6. Wilkinson was excellent coming forward from midfield on Saturday.
  7. He does stuff, marking isn’t one of them
  8. It certainly did when that soil was clay
  9. I think we were misguided in thinking that the defence was fine given that last season’s success was built on that plus KVV. Then we got confused by thinking that we have a shocking selection of strikers except that they have all scored goals (Shaw just does assists). But I think you are right the issue may be the midfield. We need to find a formation where we can retain the ball, protect the defence and feed the attack. A tall order but some other teams manage to do it.
  10. There is agreement that signings have been poor but should the club be more transparent about the process. If we had a list of 10 strikers and we were priced out of nos. 1 - 3, and 4 & 5 didn’t fancy a move to Scotland and Wilkinson was no. 6, did that mean we didn’t try? If the fans don’t fancy Wilkinson should we have moved on to no. 7 or just chucked it? A change of manager may give us a short term bounce due to the different voice but in all likelihood we will be in a similar position next season. I would prefer that the existing regime improves, management and players. Kettlewell doesn’t appear to be completely stuck in his ways like Hammell was, he has tinkered a little, perhaps he needs to be braver and more radical. (Is playing wingbacks on the correct side radical?). Lets score 5 against County on a cold winter’s night, it’s been done before.
  11. Mugabi’s tackle in the box, his shot from distance, his goal - not sure anyone else accumulated as many plus points.
  12. I think Bair is a red herring, it was made clear that he was here on washers, he isn’t taking up a wage that could go to someone else. The idea was that he would be moulded in the background and see if he could be turned into a player. Then everyone got injured. He has proved to be more effective than a couple of the other strikers so he has stayed around the squad. If we are criticising signings there are many other targets who were signed as first team players.
  13. These windows are actually registration windows. Clubs could hire players at any time but can only register them to play in the next window (unless they weren’t registered with another club when signed). Shane Blaney arrived in December but we couldn’t play him till January.
  14. Yes booked against both Arbroath and Raith Rovers.
  15. They still do, it’s just hopelessly out of date, here is the latest one
  16. ‘Callum Slattery will serve his one match suspension after the midfielder picked up his sixth booking against Celtic.’ Odd, suspensions usually kick in 2 weeks after the accumulation of sufficient cards.
  17. A suspension for Christmas is the dream
  18. Or PJ Morrison (?) or Steve Hetherington or David Devine or Morgyn Neill.
  19. 3-6-1 reverting to 5-4-1 when required (most of the match).
  20. I am not interested in changing the manager at the moment but he needs to give himself a shake, someone at the club needs to have a word and get him to go back to the simple things that brought him success last season. No more overthinking things.
  21. Wonderful indeed, was he not on crutches on Saturday?
  22. The notion that KVV gets the credit for the run last year and SK gets none is nonsense. That being the case you couldn’t criticise the manager for recent performances as it’s all down to the players.
