  1. To be fair to him, he is saying he was excited to see what Skippy, Marvin& Ainsworth could bring to the party with Pearson and Cadden making runs from behind them. (Something which a few fans on here thought would work as well). It didnt work, he made changes. He also said the performance today was the worst its been since he's been back. Can't argue with that. For me, we were a shambles in the first half in particular. Looked as though the players had no clue where they should be playing. Time to just go to a simple 4-4-2. No overthinking, everyone knows their role, try and put some solid performances in.
  2. For those not there, the reason McGhee was getting it in the neck was a combination of factors. - Mind boggling formation playing 1up front at home, players not even looking confident in positions - Dire first half - Launching aimless punts up the park Top scorer and top assist player on the bench despite needingba goal to get back in the game. Even when we svored he sat Moult back down. When he finally brought him on, he should have put lionel in there as well to provide some service. At 1-1 it looked as though we were playing for a draw. Yes, its unfortunate to give away last minute goals three games running, unlucky the way they all went in even, but McGhee today really made it difficult for us to try and win the game. And im saying this as a McGhee supporter!
  3. Given what has happened, I'de be tempted to give Lionel a start. We all know what he can do when he decides to turn up, and given he was obviously disappointed in himself the other night, I would hope he has more than a reason to bring his A game tomorrow.
  4. Lionel may have been guilty of a bit of ball watching for the goal, but he wasn't the only one, and the guy had only been on the park a minute or so. No defence I know, but the team had failed to really create or test Thistle most of the game. While Ainsworth should take his share of the blame, I haven't seen much mention of his run a minute or so later cutting through a good few Thistle defenders and squaring the ball into the box. A big big chance our senior players couldn't finish off. At the end of the day, you generally know what you are getting with him. He's the creative guy who can turn or win the game. Putting him on at that stage, you have got to be prepared for the gaps at the back it will leave. When he came off the bench against County, first corner he took we scored from it. No-one wheeled him out in front of the press that day.
  5. The police were definitely overly heavy handed in trying to deal with the boy, but it did look to me from where I was that he was antagonising/goading them. Getting close up then doing the runner job. I was not close enough to know what was said by any of the parties. Regardless of what was said, 10-15 police wading in after one youngster looked like a complete over reaction. I did overhear a conversation behind me that supposedly the boy had had an altercation with stewards prior to the police incident and police were looking for him due to that. Kicked off over a flag being hung over advertising hoarding supposedly. (That's not first hand, its just what I heard)
  6. If one of the best products of our youth development can only make the grade at Partick Thistle, then our youth development policy needs seriously revamped!
  7. Their pitch is a shambles and has now had 3 games postponed this season. Wind isn't the problem, its just holding too much water. Not that we can throw stones about that. Anyway, despite that, Thistle have just said that they plan on having the game on! http://ptfc.co.uk/news/2015-2016/february_2016/pitch_condition_update "Despite a lot of overnight rain the ground staff are working extremely hard today to ensure tonight's game goes ahead as planned. Contrary to inaccurate reports on the BBC website the game has not been postponed and the club will be doing everything it can to ensure the match goes ahead. We will reassess the pitch later this afternoon and a further update will be provided at that time."
  8. £400k might sound tempting to the money men, but with 2.5 years left on his contract, the EPL having mega millions and Scottish Clubs being able to demand million pound plus fees for their players then I’ll be quite disappointed if we get rid of him at this first bid. By all means, open negotiations and push up the price, or reject it and we can look to cash in on him in the summer. We are far from clear of that playoff spot and £400k now is not going to go far if we are relegated and downsizing in the summer.
  9. Missed a sitter today. Not convinced (from when we do see him) he's actually any good. Comes across as a bit of a walloper as well. Hopefully he can improve, but with Skippy and Moult playing well, he's a million miles away from the starting 11. His best shot is showing McGhee he has more to offer than Robinson and Clarkson as backup. If ge cant do that then we are screwed if injuries start affecting our front two
  10. Big Stall

    Mark McGhee

Agree, and for a bit of perspective, we got a new manager at the same point as Dundee United. Since then.... McGhee Played 11, Won 5, drawn 3, lost 3 Mixu Played 13, won 1, drawn 2, lost 10 Pretty clear we could have done much worse than McGhee!
  11. If MJC is an old guy then he was sat behind me. The usual moaner kermit the frog behind me was joined by his mate who apparently sits further up the east stand. The second half was non stop pish, moan after moan after moan. Hard to imagine we were 5-0 up at the time! Right, we get it, you don't like Lionel. Jesus.............
  12. Top end of Hamilton (Torrhead), theres a couple of inches at least here and still snowing. Very localised though, much less down the hill. Nothing at all in giffnock when i was there this morning
  13. I'll be quite dissapointed if he goes. When he's on form, he's a major weapon for us, also a handy sub. If Marvin gets injured and Lionel is offski, we will have lost some major pace from that team. Saying that, i would really like Dom to get more of a shot. This might be his opportunity
  14. They were far from being the better side, but for me i didnt think there was as much between the teams as Chick suggested. We probably shaded it, but we also got some good breaks, keeper made some quality saves and st j shots at goal that got deflections and went wide, could on another day dip into the corner. Im delighted at the win but i think mcghee is correct, we were not up to the standard of the last few games
  15. Dont know about that, but chick young was really singing our praises tonight. For him, it was quite a deviation, but good to hear
  16. If the rain thats hit hamilton for the last 40minutes makes it up the hill to fir park, game will be off. Biblical rain!
  17. Put it this way, aside from recent games, we have been honking this season, and yet..... we are 11clear of them with a game in hand. They are shite! Lets not get carried away though, we are not exactly world beaters ourselves but we are the better team here. Three points would be vital to them to kick their season off but by the same token, 3 points should be enough for us to guarantee we dont finish bottom. Hoping for a big result here, i would argue that winning this could be more valuable than beating accies, even though both games still return three points
  18. We are 11points infront of them, they have something like 5 wins in ALL OF 2015, in what world would they expect to win? They might want to win, and think they could win, but no chance will they be expecting to win
  19. Whilst i dont subscribe to all the must win pish that gets thrown around so early in the season, this game really is massive. Ok, a defeat and the sky is not falling in, but a win puts us 14 points+ a game in hand + a far superior goal difference from automatic relegation. That really would be a lot for United to catch up. United are shite, really shite infact but we all saw what a cash injection did for Ross County last winter. You have to expect the United board will throw money at the problem in January and that could see them improve. Lets put more daylight between us now, we are playing well, confidence is up and the prize of probable saftey (at least from automatic relegation) is big one.
  20. Hall? In todays team. Guessimg he's a youth player? Any informed opinions on him before we decide in the space of 68 minutes that he's either pish or a potential world beater?
  21. Grimshaw. Marvim was great when we were gettimg him running in behind down the left but it wasn't happening enough. Grimshaw was at the races the full game. If he keeps that up, we will be looking to keep him past january
  22. Been a while since i've pitched up at fir park so unoptimistic. Last season was shite but towards the end we showed flashes, start of the season you are wondering if Barra had turned it around over the summer, mcghee starts and you thibk maybe we are heading in the right direction, then we get pumped off ICT and Ross County. :-( Doom and gloom for me today, hopefully im wrong but i'd take a point right now
  23. And his maws a matress....or so the song goes
  24. Watched the united v hearts game a few weeks ago and both teams were poor. Granted, we are also shite, but despite Hearts league position there shouldn't be anything to fear. Saying that..... 1-2 defeat.
