He was today
-
Gent for me, easy decision
-
I think he has a bit about him, but not today. That was a very poor showing
-
Take the point but that was a horrific shambles today. St Mirrens goal was on us. Halliday was brutal, and neither spittal or vale turned up. The passing all round was shocking. My lad is only 6& him and his mill utd team mates are putting better balls to feet than what i witnessed today. St Mirren, despite their lofty position were no better than us. Infact, i dare say if we had put some passes together we would walk through them quite easily. They are a strong workman like side but cant cope with crisp passing & a bit of guile. Gent - standout performer!

When can we say owe naw he's pish?
-
That youtube compilation is encouraging by the number of goals he is picking up by getting himself running into the centre as balls get flashed across. Something big Theo hasnt yet learned to do
-
Heard that earlier. Shockarooni its not in news papers, refs bulletins or twitter. A bit like the league cup semi, the boy greetin about his broken nose. Same happened to moult but he just got on with it & scored the winner
-
Gent wasnt at the races on Sunday, his worst showing for a while. Saying that, he is one of our better players so got to imagine he is struggling with an injury. Vale must be same boat. Maybe recovering and being wary of the Livy 'carpet' playing into team selection.
-
Vale for me. Very impressed with his showing
-
As for the game. Started excellent, celtic grew into the game last 20mins of 1st half but not causing us much bother. 2nd half sitting back with our dodgy defence & keeper was just inviting disaster. We did cope pretty well with the onslaught but putting a new defence on so late screwed the dynamic. I thought Vale was superb & was everywhere. In contrast, Shaw was brutal & looked as though he had no clue where he should be playing. I actually would have brought bear back a bit & left a fresh shaw on the half way line to hit them on the break. A massive kick in the baws but we are definatley a better team now than a few months ago. Three points midweek & try not to make a cunt of it at ibrox then we can hopefully kick on
-
^didnt think he was that bad today. Plenty times he waved play on when celtic players went down, on another day we would have been pulled up. Whoever the VAR operafor was tho could be questioned - looking for a red card at the free kick seemed way OTT
-
Hearts were not as good early in the season as they are now so we will ger beat...... Celtic are worse now than earlier in the season when we drew with them at their own place so we will get beat. Clear as day 🤣
-
So the 'logic' you use one week, isnt valid the next week. All good. 🫡
-
So celtic have beaten us by one goal on the last two home games then? And couldnt beat us on their own patch last time either. Glad you have cleared that up. 👍 We do have something going for us..... you noted we were up against a different Hearts team at the weekend compared with the one we beat earlier in the season. This one full of confidence. I assume we are therefore up against a different celtic team compared to the one that was cantering clear at the summit of the table.....
-
Despite them being massive favourites, and whatever MJC says, there is no reason we cant fight our way to at least a draw. It will be tough, but they are at a low ebb. Confidence is shot & they will be hurting. Would like to see us take the game to them & get right in their faces from the off. They are not the fluid attacking unit they were last season. Sadly our defence and keeper are a shambles. Keep the ball in their half as much as we can. Dont sit back & invite them onto us
-
I agree that we need better. If we can afford to get better players and keep them as squad men back ups i wouldnt be averse to that. Saying that, i expect both to be pretty high earners within our squad so for the money we are probably paying them, we need first team starters
-
I actually thought Kettlewells interview was a better watch today. It was a change from the norm & you could see he was visibly angry at the mistakes. Noted that he/the club protect the players rather than throwing them under the bus. I got the feeling he was going to let fly in the dressing room and hopefully boot some arses. That is certainly what the defence and the keeper are needing.
-
If you want job security, you dont become a football manager! A contract is there for a reason, it protects the manager for when he does poorly & gets the sack...... it also protects the club for when the manager does well and bigger opportunities come sniffing. There is absolutley nothing wrong with shaking the guys hand at the end of his contract, saying thanks for the service but we are going to try something new
-
Keep the points coming. Would take a draw right now. Another point closer to safety
-
Leaving aside the RL stuff that has happened to you or what has went on elsewhere, i think you are over-thinking this place. You are clearly on one side of the spectrum - SK is trying hard/SOD is a lovely guy/Slattery is a great player etc etc. That is your opinion and that is completley fine. You have every right to it & folks have a right to disagree. Where you are wrong however is that the boo boys are the only opinion tolerated. Have a look at the responses Steelboy, Yodo & MJC get and you will see there are plenty giving them it tight. Its a fans football forum and we dont all see things the same way. It shouldnt be an echo chamber for boo boys or happy clappers. When people post on a discussion forum they should expect to be challdnged. The one thing i would say is that if people are sending you PMs that are trying to chase you off or threaten or upset you in any way, report it to the mods. That behaviour shouldnt be tollerated.

He was very good last season. Has been below the standards he set this season. To the extent that is why some of the fan base are understandably questioning if it is time for him to be given a rest
-
Theres absolutley nothing wrong with having an opinion. The point is that goal keepers do get dropped when form dips
-
Thats not really an argument at all. Every club carries a reserve keeper. Reasons are to cover for injuries and suspensions & to give competition. Same as any other area of the pitch, if you dont perform & there is someone better then you lose your place. Simple. See Arsenal currently, Liverpool previously and even Joe Hart back in his day. I dont think anyone on these forums has ever suggested that Oxborough is going to be brilliant. All people have been questioning is why he hasnt been given a chance when Kelly has clearly not been performing at the levels he can. Now it might be as simple as Ox is not good enough. Or maybe he doesnt contribute at training or he could even be a bad egg in the camp. That is all entirely plausible. If he isnt good enough then why not bring in more competition in january. Given we paid a fee for this lad then its fair that supporters assume he must be half decent. My opinion (not in the know) is that Ox will be off, even if the club wanted him to stay- which doesnt look likely. You dont hang around as an understudy and get zero game time when the number 1 is in poor form. It would be interesting to hear how his relationship is with kettlewell. Can imagine its a kick in the baws every week being on the bench.
-
In a round about way you have raised a very good point. If our number2 keeper isnt good enough to get a chance infront of an under performing/out of form number 1, then why didnt he look to bring in another keeper in January?
-
I dont see it either. To be honest he should have been dropped/rested/taken out the spotlight back in November. Greenock aside, he hasnt been too bad the last set of games. I thought he had turned the corner and was hopefully coming into some form.
