  1. You might want to try that one again, and remove this little gem...... Where you're argument falls down is that this summer, leading on to our current horrendous situation, was probably the most settled the team has been. Losing 3 players Hutch, Annier and Faddy, only 1 of whom was a nailed on starter, was the best summer we have had in years in terms of outgoings.
  2. Surely to finish, 3rd, 2nd 2nd you have to roll your sleeves up and battle hard for it? And unlike in a cup run of 5-6 games you do it again, and again and again. We have been brutal in cups under McCall, no one can argue otherwise. To start diatribing with tenuous links about sleeves up as if it only applies to cup effort is a terrible argument
  3. How about............he's not been a football manager for who knows how long? or....... he's getting on a bit and there is no indication of whether or not he's progressed his skills and is up to date with modern football management, techniques, strategies etc, or maybe just the fact that he hasn't indicated a desire to get back into football management. Or even there might be better candidates out there who would fancy a crack. Putting aside the above, Tommy may still be a great football manager but it smacks of lazy internet judgement. Who is an old school guy who can work our players, who has a knowledge of the club, who is well thought of at the club....... oh we can get McLean back in some 23 years after he became a legend to replace the only manager who can challenge McLeans achievements in those 23 years.
  4. ^ out of every potential manager who has a coaching badge in the UK, theres only one candidate??? Come on, you can make a better case for someone than pulling out that kind of outrageous statement
  5. The whole Clarkson thing amuses me and just goes to highlight the mentality of our never happy fans. Clarkson scored & set up another goal on Saturday but probably took more abuse from our fans when he actually played for us.
  6. Can't argue with the facts. As you say we were up against pretty poor standards but I think we need to give our club some credit here. If everyone was poor, then there are reasons for it. We were less poor than everyone else. The old saying goes, you can only beat whats infront of you and considering resources, support, investment, we have done a sterling job of late. That super team that we had, how many do you have to inherit and how many do you have to bring in yourself before it's your own team? Remember, the sum is greater than the parts and that team, for all its prowess, did not click into gear until McFadden came on board. I'm thinking that of the starting 11 of that team, Ramsden, Law, Ojamma, McFadden, Higdon, were all McCall players? So, just under 50%. He might not be responsible for the other 6, but he certainly recognised what they needed to supplement the skill base at the club and bring in the required talent. This I agree with. None of us are privy to the exact financial state the club is in on a day to day basis, but we have all seen the press releases and heard about the annual accounts. If relegation would be the final nail in the MFC coffin then we certainly can't afford to gamble if there is any hint McCall has lost the dressing room.
  7. Unless we do well in the Scottish Cup. Remember half the board it would seem would swap our league finish for a relegation dog fight and a decent cup run.
  8. He's crap aye, but doesn't he have a couple of European goals?
  9. ^you also thought we would get pumped 8-0 on Saturday so maybe we shouldn't put too much stock in your thoughts
  10. So did we get pumped 8-0 then? McCall must go
  11. Number 1 to number 2 at a prem club who will in all possibility struggle to stay up. Warnock is not a long term solution at Palace, that much is obvious. McCall would have to impress quickly or be turfed out when Palace get relegated or the new man comes in.
  12. He teaches the boys how to use twatter and scudbook
  13. He shouldnt lose his job, but he clearly should never have been given access to the email accounts either
  14. Dont want to jump on the outrage band wagon, but sent in error or not, we shouldn't be letting anyone who lacks common sense or a basic grasp of spelling and grammar anywhere near any kind of club communications. And, anyone who describes themselves as the main man at Motherwell and isn't McCall or whoever is the current most senior director really needs the club to pull them down a few pegs!
  15. My wee baby was born on the first game of the season so i haven't been to any games yet except the Euro match. Honest question, are we any worse than we were at this stage last season? The first few months of last season i thought we were absolutley dire, but managed to scrape a couple of wins mainly with long balls to Sutton and knock downs to Anier. We got the rub of the green last season and we are not getting now. Is that a fair assesment or am i way off the mark. I'll get along to Fir Park on Sat so I'll get to see how bad we are then.
  16. Last year, the first few games we were god awful and befeft of attacking ideas. We snuck a couple of results from long balls to sutton with a flick on to anier. Im not panicking yet
  17. This thread is useless without pictures!!
  18. Im actually more upbeat than I was last season. Before last season had even begun we lost 7 first team players, basically one of the best attacking Motherwell teams a good number of us have seen. Last season for the first few months we couldn’t link midfield and attack, the only way we looked like scoring was a long ball with Anier breaking the offside trap. After a few months they learned to play and we took second but I really thought last season was the time the bubble was going to burst. Contrast that with this season, we’ve only lost 3 first team players. We seem to know the way to goal and aside from Aberdeen, no one else has really strengthened. On paper, we should still be looking at top 4. Things don’t always go that way, but with our current team and with Leitch, Moore, Thomas hopefully ready to step up, we shouldn’t be too far away. A second striker and a commanding centre back wouldn’t go amiss however although we probably don’t have the budget.
  19. Do you really believe we would have made Europe 6 out of the last 7 years if everything off the park was as bad?? You have never hidden your dislike of McCall, with your 'wee ranger' posts, your need to set up a double account to say the same thing from two posters, etc etc. Don't rate McCall, thats all fine, opinions are like arseholes as the saying goes, but some of your and other posters reactionism on here is cringe worthy. Am I happy about the performance and result against the Icelandic mob? Of course not, it's a fucking shambles. But jumping the gun saying one of our best managers we have ever had is not up to the task and off-field we are a disaster is so way off the mark it's unreal. Someone else posted the league decline had to come at some point and now its come. Really? We haven't even started the campaign yet! From what I saw last week, I thought (first 30 minutes) we looked far more dangerous than we did for the first 3 months of last season. Obviously the fitness failings and the poor defence kicked in after that, but honestly, I was more upbeat last week than I was in the early part of last season. We at least look like we can score goals going forward, something we didn't look like doing early doors last year.
  20. Higdon set up a twitter, and has said some nice words about us. Any chance he's angling for another shot at the 'well?
  21. If we did, it wasn't on the clubs website fixture section last week.
  22. I remember maybe about 6-8 weeks left in the season, when Aberdeen were still in the Scottish cup, I was listening to one of the broadcasts before Aberdeen played Hearts. Richard Gordon, Willie Miller and Tom English had a big discussion on winning an 'Aberdeen treble'. Two cup wins, and 2nd in the league. I think we can all recognise that it would be a fantastic achievement, but the audacity to be discussing that on national radio long before any prizes were due to be dished out, blew me away. Had they not learned anything from the Celtic fans who had planned to win 3 trebles when Rangers were on their lower league tour.
  23. To be honest i think the club could be doing more to raise awareness if the game and market it. We have known for a month or so we would get the winner of Bangor or this mob, but not until last Thursday did we get to find out when the home game would be. Was there any official announcement and rallying call? Im as big a motherwell fan as the next guy, but i hadn't even looked at the possible dates until Monday and was caught off guard to see the home game was this week. Got my ticket yesterday right enough
  24. Not to mention the cooper suite club badge going out on tour.......
  25. Which would probably make him a better than average SPFL player
