Thats what Im hoping. If Boyle could pull Mark McGhee out his arse from nowhere two years ago, whats to stop him doing a similar trick. All this pish about wanting a manager who is loyal..... fuck that. If we can get another ambitious manager who's determined to make his stock rise and drive the club forward (like McGhee has done) then i will happily sacrafice loyalty for another 2 years of being one of the better teams in the country. I would like to ask McGhee one thing though....... if when we have our best team fit then we are clearly the 3rd best team in the league as you say, then why are you going to the sheep??

I know where you are coming from and I fully expect him to be away, but in the last few weeks, what exactly has he done thats so bad? The guy has said he hasn't had any contact from any club and he is planning for next season in the Europa league. What else could he do?
-
Is that fact? Seriously, I don't know. If the players are on holiday till the last week of June, Leitch is in Dubai, McGhee presumably has a holiday as well, how are our preparations being delayed?
-
Aye, and he's not going to stop signing players for us incase he gets the celtic job. I can hardly see Celtic fans being enamoured by Mark McGhee being brought in and first signings are a couple of boys fae Livy. I don't know the way football managers work, but my guess is that the guy is due a couple of weeks holiday after the season, maybe thats why we havent seen any signings yet?
-
I dont see why he should when you consider his dream job is vacant right now. If i knew my dream job, which was a significant step up in my field of work and no doubt a vastly increased salary was available and i was one of a number of candidates for it then noway would i be ruling myself out. McGhee's doing it the right way. He isn't whoreing himself out, and he isn't making promises to us he can't keep.

Setanta have been running their Europa League advert for the last fw days now, flashing all the British teams involved including the 'well!
-
Cant see A- there being enough package holiday slots left at such short notice to cope with any Nancyesque demand, and B - can't see there being anywhere near the sort of demand for the pishy first round as there was for Nancy. Saying that, I hold my hands up and say I didn't expect to be standing in the square in Nancy with anywhere near as many 'well fans. My pick of the teams would be (so we can get to and pump the shite first before the good teams) 1st round - New Saints (Wales) 2nd round - Derry City 3rd round - Roma (how quality would that be, although their ultras would research us on the internet, be excited thinking they would get a good fight and then find out our self styled ultras are 14 year olds. 4th round - Hertha Berlin. Not a chance in hell we could beat Roma or Hertha, but both would be cracking trips.

At lunch time yesterday I was 98% sure I had passed Rossco walking out the Lloyds TSB in St Vincent Street in Glasgow. After seeing the reports, maybe it actually was.

The only direct quote i see is.... "Now I have an understanding with my chairman, John Boyle, concerning my future." Which could just as easily mean that he is allowed to talk to anyone thats interested. There is no mention of money in McGhee's quotes, the only suggestion of no comp is what the paper has written. Most people here don't take the Record or Sun as factual reporting, why does this paper have more substance? My opinion is that I don't see him joining Aberdeen while the Celtic job is up in the air, unless he's been told he is 100% not getting it. And the Calderwood to Falkirk, Hughes to us suggestion looks to me that we would be the losers of that deal.
-
Why should he say anything like that when the Celtic job is available? He's made no secret of his desire to manage celtic one day so why shoot himself in the foot. Its a massive job and a huge step up. As a McGhee admirer, I would be dissapointed if he leaves but at the end of the day we are Motherwell, we are a stepping stone club. And it may go against the grain here, but I'de much rather have a stepping stone manager who wants to achieve things with us and make his stock rise, than a career jo who is happy to guide us to 10th every year. If he go's we have to trust Boyle to get the right guy in. He pulled McGhee out his arse , two years ago. Nothing to say he can't get someone of similar quality. * It would be a pain in the arse though if he go's to Aberdeen and takes half the team with him, leaves us with Boab, McGarry and Darren Smith.
-
Maryhill or Airdrie! May as well just go to Kabul!
-
That list is quality! Punt McGhee and get VIALLI in pronto!
-
What the fuck should flow or dempster deny? McGhee has only been implied by journalists and bookies. Nothing official from anyone about either job. I dont see the Dundee United board, Burnley board etc etc denying anything either. Stop getting your knickers in a twist. If he go's he go's. It'll be a shame but I'de rather he went to the peadodrome than Aberdeen. Celtic aren't really in competition with us, and will be looking at better calibre players. If he go's to Aberdeen though there would be a good chance he would want some of our players as well.
-
He's no a good manager. But if you like him then fair enough. Get on the blower to Boyle.
-
Why would anyone want Butcher? He's failed at every club he's been at with the exception of us. The only reason he was half decent with us was because of the situation, he was able to scare/ motivate our young boys. When the finances got better and he bought older guys we were pish! Anyway, I'll say it. Mutley hasnt even punted himself for these jobs yet, get a grip. Although got to say he'll be gutted he's had a pish season now that Chesneys jacked it.
-
Why do you think there was all the Boab hate on these boards all season
-
No chance O Neills coming back. He's onto something special down there with the way Randy Lerner is backing him at Villa. They'll be a top 4 side next season.
-
No letter for me, and none all season. I phoned them up last Thursday, the wee burd said it was due to problems with the new system last year. Re-checked my details and said she'd send me the letter out................... still no letter. Im going to go in and buy it over the counter before the game today.

Scottish cup defeat last season. The man was the worst player on the park. Saying that, he has improved significantly and I hope he gets to stay.

Are You Planing To Renew Your Season Ticket ?
Big Stall replied to East_Stand_Al's topic in Club Chat
Possibly not, but I certainly sign up to every new 'getting to know you well' initiative database we seem to have twice a season and haven't had anything through. Hopefully my letters waiting for me when I go home tonight. -

Still not had my letter. -
And if that was the reason then perhaps we should arrange B fixtures at a suitable time when all the relevant players who could concievably make a step up, are available to play. Im glad for Clarcky and all our players who have been called up, I just think the timeing and limitations on the squad shows Scottish football up for the farce it is. Additionally, its interesting that Burley won't be chosing anyone who's playing for the league or Europe at the weekend but is happy to take players who are in a real relegation battle. Cant say I'de be too happy if I was a Falkirk or ICT fan and one of their best players get cunted in a meaningless game.

Come on man, with only a couple of exceptions, how many players in bottom 6 teams are on the fringes of the national team??
-
It’s a good thing for DC well done, but lets be honest whats the point in it anyway?? Our A team is rank rotten, how bad is our B team going to be. And lets not forget that this is a significantly weakened B team as Burley hasn’t been allowed to pick players from the top 6 sides either.
-
I don't. I would much rather watch us go out playing silky football and coasting to third in the league than watch us roll our sleeves up and only be saved from relegation on a technicality. Given the choice of watching Arsenal or Bolton every week, there is no choice, both in terms of style and panache on the pitch and results! *But I do understand that sometimes it looks as though our mob can't be arsed. I just dont ever get any Butcher hero worship.
