Aye, you must be gutted at the moment, nae manager to moan about for at least 2 weeks!
-
Mine came through the post on Monday. A bit valuable though to be sending unrecorded delivery surely?
-
I've met Staunton before - years and years ago as he was coming towards the end of his time at Villa. Great player though he was, he came accross as a quiet polite and unassuming sort. Not the type of guy I would immediatley imagine to being a football manager.
-
Then im glad your not John Boyle. I want the best possible success for Motherwell, and success starts with a good manager. If he's good enough to get punted onto a bigger club in a year or 2 years then it means we have had a succesful couple of seasons. I'll happily take 3rd and 7th and the manager offski than a couple of relegation battles with dross served up on the pitch thankyou very much.
-
Looking at the names, and reading gannons thingy on wiki (admitedly the 1st ive heard of him) he would be my choice. Maybe a move to fir park to participate in europe and watch his managerial stock rise would appeal to him??
-
Bit in bold, Where do you get that from? Do we even know if anyone has applied? Have you seen the cv's on John Boyles desk? I would personally think Sir Govan Ferguson would be the best candidate out there.
-
McGhee wasn't the fans favourite then either though, Boyle pulled him out of nowhere, look how well he did. I'll happily not sour Nijholts star status in exchange for another manager of McGhee's calibre.
-
Aye very good but a sample taken from those who have internet access, or at least those who choose to talk pish on the internet is not representative.
-
Better whisper that, incase any of the Nijholt lovers hear you not towing the party line.
-
Never said you did, was using it as an example. The point was the ridiculousness of it all, suggesting that the membership of this board (a tiny minority of all 'well fans) somehow translates to what all the fans want.
-
Maybe this thread should say, he's the favourite amongst folk that post on the internet. I think saying he's the fans favourite based on a poll on steelmenonline is about as legitimate as the trust believing they speak for all 'well fans.
-
Im sure a succesful business tycoon like Boyle knows a good bit about recruiting the right managers for his businesses, and a lot more than a mob of fannies on the internet. (Zoom excluded obviously)
-
Pedigree and he plays flowing football. Would perhaps represent Boyle pulling another rabbit out the hat. I wouldnt be too dissapointed if he rocked up to fir park - going on that read anyway.

From the other thread....

While im glad to see him go - glad after the Sunday Herald article, all the McGhee quotes i've read on here this past hour don't show him saying anything good about us, maybe thats been posted up here for a reason..... agenda?? Heres what he said. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa...erdeen_boss.php "It was a difficult decision but I feel it was the right decision," he said. "Things have moved on a little bit. "Motherwell had lost two or three players and we looked like losing two or three more due to the circumstances in the Scottish game, so it was becoming more and more difficult to maintain the performance and levels that we set over the last couple of years. "I felt that the opportunity to go to Aberdeen, to a more stable environment, would allow me to make more of a challenge over the next few years than might be possible with Motherwell. It is a shame, I loved my time there." Even if he didnt mean it, at least he has said he loved his time with us.
-
A no from me, although a better poll could be.... "has melvin bragg ever posted more on here than he has done in the last few days?"
-
As much as Im a McGhee supporter, I have to admit that I reckon his position is pretty much untenable in the light of the sunday herald article. Boyle trying to persuade him to stay?? Players would surely lose all respect for him, as the fans have been doing. Rather than being dissapointed in him leaving, im more annoyed at the way he has done it with what he said in that article, before he was even away from Motherwell. Im also quite pissed off he hasn't thanked Motherwell once for the opportunity the club gave him to get back into management. McGhee, thanks for the quality football and the European trip, but don't let the door hit your arse on the way out!
-
You guys are gonna be fucking beeling if Niholt doesnt get it aren't you?? The guys a legend yes, do I want him as manager? Honestly, I don't know. Apart from the wank fest on here about him today I wasn't really aware of his managerial history/prowess. Whoever Boyle gets in, I just hope he does asgood a job as he did 2 years ago.
-
I don't want him to stay now either after all of this, but think it would be comedy gold reading you getting your knickers in a twist if he was to do a u-turn.
-
As for Leitch, I wouldnt be too worried. Hopefully he has learned McGhoo's good points in the last 2 years, and importantly he knows the squad, knows the guys he needs to offer a contract to right away without them having to impress a new manager, and he knows how the team will be able to play in a few weeks time for our European tour.
-
You wouldnt be happy at Calderwood, a guy who continually got Aberdeen into Europe?
-
I really dont see why we should consider Butcher, my mate SiebDykstrasBarmyArmy champions him too but I just dont see it. I admit he did us a turn when we really needed it, but I just dont think he's a good manager. Look at his record: - Coventry - Sacked - Sunderland - Sacked - Motherwell - Good job - Sydney - Sacked - Brentford - Sacked - ICT - relegated. He did good for us - essentially by scaring and motivating the young boys we were left with after administration. Apart from Motherwell, he's really been a failure.
-
Thats what Im hoping. If Boyle could pull Mark McGhee out his arse from nowhere two years ago, whats to stop him doing a similar trick. All this pish about wanting a manager who is loyal..... fuck that. If we can get another ambitious manager who's determined to make his stock rise and drive the club forward (like McGhee has done) then i will happily sacrafice loyalty for another 2 years of being one of the better teams in the country. I would like to ask McGhee one thing though....... if when we have our best team fit then we are clearly the 3rd best team in the league as you say, then why are you going to the sheep??
-
I know where you are coming from and I fully expect him to be away, but in the last few weeks, what exactly has he done thats so bad? The guy has said he hasn't had any contact from any club and he is planning for next season in the Europa league. What else could he do?
-
Is that fact? Seriously, I don't know. If the players are on holiday till the last week of June, Leitch is in Dubai, McGhee presumably has a holiday as well, how are our preparations being delayed?
