Motherwell have added former Tottenham left back Zaine Francis-Angol to their ranks, but manager Stuart McCall denied the 18-year-old as being the defender he is looking for to boost his first team.
Francis-Angol was invited to train with the Fir Park club last season and after an unsuccessful trial at Colchester has now agreed a deal to return to Lanarkshire.
McCall, who is still hoping for Gavin Gunning to return and boost his defensive options down the left side, said: “Zaine is a kid we had here after he was released by Tottenham. He will go into the under-19s as he’s not one for the first team yet.
“When you are bringing players in to the under-19s you have to ask if they can become first team players. From what we saw of Zaine, if he gets a season under his belt then he might be able to do that.
’Well enjoyed a good start to their pre-season campaign with wins over Morton and Dumbarton and continued their pre-season programme as they met Partick Thistle in Stephen Craigan’s testimonial match at Fir Park tonight (Wednesday).
They host Championship side Leeds United on Saturday with the SPL season starting a week later.
Had a good day out, don't go to many friendlies but went today ,decent performance, some good goals and met one or two posters I knew [brazilian, That hat, and Jim 64] and one or two I didn't [Yir elder and Keef]so all in all a good day .
That's the big problem weeyin ,no time to get someone else in, better to go now and give us some time to plan than go at the death and leave us up the creek .
One more signing to come in plus two players on loan, that will all change if Randolph and Murphy leave . Chance that Randolph could be off but Murphy looks certain to be away.
Morton - with 7 days xtra training - starting to run this game to be honest...... Ahhhh sack everyone tear down firpark were relegated for sure this season.
McCall has this to say about the game tonight.
Morton are good side who will be looking to push themselves in the First Division this year and I expect a very stern test
You've also got to remember that we only have two new players at the minute the rest of the squad is very familiar with how I like to play and how their teammates play. Its different if you have six or seven new players and you are essentially trying to gel a team together. Having said that, we are pushing some of the kids like Carswell, Smith, Pollock and Lawless and others who I hope will make more of an impact at first-team level this season.
Absolutely no offence in you not agreeing with my opinions johnstone, Ive amended my post to favourite and least favourite player which i think is a better way of wording it ,least favourite because so many moves come to an end when Humphrey gets the ball ,he has blistering pace which some say cant be bought ,but his skill and technique which some say can be taught after two seasons shows no sign of developing in anyway. I also based my thoughts on first team regulars and not fringe players.
It is happening ,the video interview with john boyle in the main stand was done by the club .Think that we are hoping to have something up and running soon.
