Other leagues have rules against this type of thing though, so you could argue there is another way to do it.

I thought that myself. I like ICT and i like Butcher, its not really fair to go head hunting other teams managers (as we probably have felt over the course of the last 2 or 3 managers here). Butcher appears to be a very loyal guy so i would be astonished if he left ICT.

We will ultimately see what happens, but over the course of the last 5 years or so, i have formed the opinion that no matter who does what at Aberdeen, its never good enough. I think Hearts are the strongest team outwith the top 2 at the moment and with Jeffries there, its difficult to see past them as the third force. Either way, we are going to pick ourselves up and move on as usual. It seems like there are three tiers to the SPL; 1. The top two, Rangers and Celtic 2. The (apparent) contenders, Hibernian, Hearts, Aberdeen and possibly Dundee Utd. 3. The rest, Motherwell, ICT, Kilmarnock, St. Mirren, St. Johnstone and Hamilton. We seem to get put into the bottom tier by every pundit talking about us, manager or player wishing to leave us for 'bigger things'. Ah well, McGhee had a good record with us, and look what happened. As I have said before, i think this job (based on fan and board expectation) is simply too much for a 70 year old.

See im not so convinced. Many average/decent managers have went up there and did feck all. I honestly believe a large part of our success was the players we have out of a typical starting 11 only Randolph, Backman and maybe Gow are Brown signings, the rest were here before he arrived. It should also be remembered that Brown has been in charge of 3 league teams in his 70 year life, and he has the reputation of a management god. With these 3 teams he actually hasnt won anything with the exception of a 2nd Division Championship in 1982. The fans up there will expect to finnish 4th or above next season, give it time, it wont happen. He is not the Messiah, he is a very naughty boy.
-
Agreed. It will give me a bigger hardon than what McGhee getting them relegated ever would.
-
They are going to get shagged up there anyway. Aberdeen are shite and Craig Brown and Archie Knox will not change that fact. If they dont finnish 4th or above each season then the fans wont be happy. A lot of stress for a 70 year old, a lot of work for a 70 year old. Isnt good. They will have a wee spurt of form and then the honeymoon period will be over, and then its downhill from there on in.

Is that a joke?

Yeah i also recall that. Oh well, its just going to be even more entertaining watching Aberdeen get pumped week in week out.

Predicament Of Being A Motherwell Fan
punk_in_drublic replied to punk_in_drublic's topic in Club Chat
Ha ha! Yeah the drama surrounding it can make it a bit more exciting than most days. It is all the more frustrating that its Scottish teams we are loosing staff to in recent months/years. -
Having lost yet another manager during a period of reasonable success for the club, I have came to terms with the fact that as a Motherwell fan I have two choices. 1) Hope we do well, win win and win. But as a consequence have our manager grabbed off us, players sold/leave on an annual bassis. 2) Play average football, languish in the bottom six each season, and have the vultures leave us alone. I mean, you never seen anyone try and take Malpas from us Both scenarios are a pain in the ass; it would be great to get a manager who can achieve point 1, but has a good bit of loyalty. One of the few folk around who seems to have loyalty is Big Butcher up at ICT. I think its just something we got to accept.

Fact is that Aberdeen have a woeful team, regardless of who is in charge

Haha quality post. Ok journos, listen to The Dead Agenda - we rock, i would type in our myspace, but just google it instead.

How about Knox till the end of the season and Walter smith coming in as the main man if that's the case

Craig Brown - A Mealy Mouthed, Two Faced Shyster
punk_in_drublic replied to MJC_MKI's topic in Club Chat
I must admit, mjc, that post made me laugh out loud, whether you meant it or not. Anyway, he can't go up there it's too cold for a pensioner to be standing outside for 90 mins at any given time. -
I was in Row B of the POD and had a cracking view of it all. Guy went down, swished about with Brown, Brown walked after him, caught him by the collar of his jacket. Steward took him back uip to main stand, but the guy lingered about the gate, which was the wrong thing to do, because he basically got abused from a lot of fans. Some got up from their seats, made the effort to go over and point in his face and shout. No one from Motherwell was told to go to the stand at all. It was class seeing Brown doing that, didnt think he had it in him.

Exactly the same thoughts here.

The Main Stand - You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourself!
punk_in_drublic replied to nethertonwellfan's topic in Club Chat
I think people choose to support in different ways. I tend to sit in teh East for a better atmosphere however for the Breidablik and Odense games i choose to sit in the main due to the better view. Atmosphere isnt as rowdy as its older folk mainly and officials etc. But its just one of those things which comes down to personal choice. -
1.5 hours before a match is plenty of time in my opinion. I would expect you get there, you have a chat tactically, get briefed on the line up and tactics, i would expect that to take 30 mins - 45 mins, you get kitted out in the warm up gear (15mins), go out for a warm up (20mins) then get back in for altering to the kit and then a further 15 mins chat. I think 1.5 hours should be enough. I very much doubt any additional preparation time would have a significant impact upon his performance. If he didnt perform (i didnt see the match) i would expect it would be done to something else.

Good Stuff! I still think this is one big hoax, everyone is in on it from Brown, to Knox, to Boyle, to Hamerfist and Nick Clegg. Its all a bit mad! Anway, lets hope your decent young fella.
-
P.S. Anyone think Casagolda is Hammerfist? Im assuming Hammerfist is on a plane right now back home.
-
I didnt think there was too much drivel, most folk were having a wee bit of fun, and some of it was actually really funny. Now he has signed its made it all the more sureal. Anyway, Hammerfist, well done, but your getting fuck all from me in terms of a pint. This protracted saga has gone on too long
-
If we do sign him, why the feck has it taken so long!
-
Thats what i was thinking
-
Where is Hammerfist when you need him?
