Don't know if that Scotland chat is true or not because I wasn't in the interviews or discussions about the appointment but I was happy enough with Levein when appointed as were a lot of others....went to pot though granted. As for us, Baraclough needs to be given time to get in his own players and ship out the ones not good enough. He has inherited a shite team with no confidence so its a tough situation.

Fair play to big Sutton. I had Erwin in in front of him in my line up but he does stick them away.
-
From the press conference - Carswell trained this week so will be in contention. Hammy is touch and go. Vigurs out (sciatic nerve issue). Moore, Ramsden still out. None of the other recent injured players mentioned as far as I could hear. So, I would go: Dan Law OB McManus Hammell Ainsworth Lasley Carswell Thomas Erwin Ojamma If Hammy and Carswell dont make it I would slot in Watt and Reid. -Law at RB - he has played well there -Erwin and Thomas have done enough to start for me. Thomas is a no brainer. Sutton is our top goalscorer granted but in my opinion brings little to nothing else to the game at the moment. Give Erwin a confidence boost by starting him and hopefully he can get a goal and kick on. If not, Sutton is on the bench7 -Ojamma up top, not on the wing.

Morgyn Neill off to Ayr for a month

Gunnar and Dan are pretty much on par with each other I reckon. They both have some good points but hey both also have bad. Dan maybe edges it with his shot stopping a little better. Both are just 'ok' in my eyes. Either way, if we can shift one of them to free up wages then happy days.

100% agree with this. Never replaced him.
-
Ooft. No place for that.
-
Ach, I like O'Brien but I can see why some don't. For me, he offers us something not a lot of our other players do at the moment - a bit blood and snotters, go straight through a player to get the ball, no nonsense type of deal. I wouldn't want all 11 to be like that mind.
-
I was sitting in the main stand and didn't hear anything. Not saying it didn't happen but never noticed if it did.
-
It often frustrates me but I do love to see the extreme differing opinions on players on here. Funny old game right enough.
-
We can but hope!
-
Happy enough with keeping O'brien as long as we have a decent deal on the wages. Hopefully that means we can move out Cummins somehow and use his wages elsewhere.

Luke Watt - from what I have seen of the u20 games he is a fullback
-
I don't but someone further back in the thread said as much...hence my original reply quoting back to Onthefringes, who I thought was backing that original claim up but turns out wasn't.
-
Apologies then Onthefringes, I misread your post as furthering and agreeing with the point of the original poster which seemed to be stating things as fact...glad you were not. E.g. "consider partying until the early hours the night before a game, to be acceptable" I'm couldn't care less if I am in the know or not but keen to know if claims like players out partying til the early hours have any basis or not. I don't think I have had a seethe since 1997
-
I would go with that
-
True, but we kept the ball well and had more possession. Thistle first half we did that again but had more incisive passes. Second half and then the accies game we did neither.
-
I don't think that's true. We seen it at the St Mirren game, where we had overall more possession, and we seen it in the first half of the Patrick game also.
-
Ok then - names - from the folk in the know and original poster? is this more conjecture from the steelmenonline board?
-
Cummins - Jesus Christ. Get a grip. McManus hasn't been great but cummins is by far worse.

Those out of contract in 2015, according to transfermarkt.co.uk: Lawson Vigurs Sutton Ainsworth Ramsden Kerr Carswell Angol Nielsen McHugh Cummins Law Ojamma OB Stewart 2016: McManus Lasley Hammell Reid Twardzik Leitch Moore Not sure on the youth players.

Pish. Utter dross.

In an ideal world I don't think many of us would disagree with the names Kmac proposes to get rid of and the positions we need to fill. That said, as others have, I can't see any funds being made available to pay off contracts. So, for me that leaves us with the following areas to consider: Reducing wages: The club need to work at getting McHugh, Cummins and maybe a couple of youth players who aren't near the first 11 out on loan for the rest of season with wages being paid by the other club. Easier said than done but that would then free us up wages to do with what we need. Maybe get 1 first team player in in a deal. Current Loans: I would try and extend Ojamma for the the obvious reasons. I do like O'Brien actually but if letting him go back does free up wages then it has to happen. I am confident Ramsden, Kerr or Reid can do a job in there pretty much to the same level. Review current 1st team players out of the team - ZFA, Lawson, Vigurs, Carswell. Does Barraclough think they can do enough in the second half of the season to negate using extra wage budget on those positions? What is their injury prognosis? I think when fit they all can be good enough to move us up the table with the team as either starters or squad players. So, for me, taking into account all the above and assuming we can move players out on loan to free wages for 1 player I would say we focus on getting a left winger or creative pacey centre mid. The rest are good enough to take us up the table.
