Betting markets don't close over night - load of nonsense. Almost certainly the money going on VDG suspended them.

Big shift on the odds... VanDerGaag Now 4/6 Barraclough 7/1 next closest Hopefully the bookies are right and we hear about Big Mitch today!

I dealt with this in work when the equality act changed in 2010 You are not allowed to ask questions related to health in an interview unless you can prove they relate to carrying out essential tasks within the job. However you can seek medical health info and carry out screening once a shortlist has been drawn up or you have made an offer to a candidate.

Fair point...I did mean to type 'may have been' actually. The only thing we do know is he had a heart attack during a game while he was a manager. Without wishing to get embroiled in a huge debate all I am saying is that it's something to look at from both his point of view and ours. Is that such a bad thing? Its the surely the sensible thing to do to protect both him and us? Like I said before, I am not interviewing the man so don't need to tip toe round legislation....speculation is all we have had 44 pages here chaps.
-
That's an obvious one. Also, obvious I am not conducting an interview.....nor said we should be asking at interview. So, again, what's the problem with us speculating about it? Also, you can ask for consent to see medical reports if it is in connection with the employment or insurance. I would think that if you are aware of someone with heart issues, brought on by the same job, it would make sense to seek that consent and reassurance for both parties.

His win rate, in the league, was actually 41% - 10 games won out of the 24 league games he was in charge He did, however, get put out of the League and National cup at the first stage when he was in charge. Seems a great fit
-
Having a look at his transfer dealings when he was there too - he didnt spend a single dime but brought in a host of players. Sounds similar.
-
Why not? It's a valid point to be considered when hiring someone. We shouldn't be hiring someone who can't handle the potential stress in that position.

I think I would be content with Van der Gaag or Barraclough. HEre is how I see it: Van der Gaag + Appears to have decent success at Maritimo and Belenenses. + European experience as a player and manager may bring a new culture and outlook to the club. + Fresh and 'exotic' appointment - Unclear how up to speed he is with the SPFL, lack of funds etc etc - Health/heart issues? Barraclough I do see why there is a comparison between Ian Barraclough and the fact Fenlon and Kenny flopped etc. - as he is coming from a couple of years success in the League of Ireland. However, according to Wiki, Ian Barraclough spent his full playing career in England, managed Scunthorpe for a bit before then going to Ireland.Since then he has been a scout for Huddersfield. Compare that to Fenlon and Kenny who spent their full playing and managing careers in the league of Ireland and knew no different. + Successful in Ireland. Sligo's most successful manager ever and articles from around his departure do seem to show an amount of disappointment in the club's decision to let him go. + Worked as a scout and played in english lower leagues. Good knowledge of players? - Will start with the 'manager from league of ireland' tag - Not as 'exciting' an appointment as Van der Gaag - Unproven outside of Ireland
-
I would actually love that

Barraclough and Van der Gaag joint favourite at 11/4 at Bet Victor. Barraclough in from 6/1 to 11/4 in the space of 24 hours and Van der Gaag starting to drift a little (he was at 5/2 at one point today) http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/motherwell/next-permanent-manager

'Outrage Bus'. Haha. Yas.
-
Aye - I think it well be Mitch or Barraclough with Black and rest of staff staying. Cant see Masskant, Shiels or Black getting it.
-
But surely not hiring him is the main thing here? Is clear from the reports that we weren't interested, he got wind and a statement has been released to save face. Criticising the club at the smallest opportunity when they haven't even done something wrong is getting fucking tedious (not directly at you...a lot of other posters too)
-
Not since I have been following him which has been a fair wee while now. Either way I am sure he is spot on with this one.
-
This chap is rarely wrong (in fact I don't think he ever has been yet) Inside The SPFL @AgentScotland ยท 24m24 minutes agoButcher thought he'd get the Well job, wanted more info but then got impression he wasn't wanted, he pulled out of the running to save face

Sorry - I read your post as saying that there was no confidentiality agreement, that it was a myth, and making out that the club was at fault here. I thought you were questioning it. Seems like we are on the same page having read it again. For me, it seems both club and society have gone to great lengths about the confidentiality clause and its more likely the person who asked for it in te first place that would be the one to break it for some publicity perhaps (?)before the deal goes through (that is purely guesswork on my part, however)
-
A confidentiality clause is only as good as the people signed up to it. Just because some people stick to it (i.e the club, the society) it cant guarantee everyone will. We dont even know if the confidentiality clause is just a gentlemens agreement or actually legally binding either. It dosn't mean it is a myth unless you know that for certain, do you? Or, is that conjecture on your part? I am quite happy with the way the club and society have went about their business in these negotiations as well as the manager interviews.

It's common practice on news web-sites to update a story already posted with new information, if it is related and continually moving, rather than posting a brand new one. Keep's it all on one place - seems sensible to me. There are no quotes/sources/real details out there at all on nams so none of the news sites are reporting anything other than hearsay, betting form or inside info.
-
Really? I can't think why the weegie media would care that much. I have a mate who is a sub-editor the daily record. I will ask him for any info.
-
Thanks So we now have he is a motherwell fan (me and some others), a rangers fan (twitter) and not a football fan at all (someone else here). Nothing like speculation!
-
Fine with me. Surrounded by good sound minds then
-
Seems the best of both worlds. We essentially get a large backing from a well fan but also keep majority control with the fans and not 1 'owner'. It also does not stop us in the future from looking at external resource again. As I have said before - the future financing/budget plans are of utmost importance. However, I see no greater risk in going with the WS as opposed to 'the consortium' on that front.
-
From the reports it seems about right. But, I would remove Solano on the assumption that if it was indeed the consortium coming in we wouldn't be even bothering with the interviews.
